" Why everytime we go somewhere you cause trouble?" Grace opens the door. I shrug sitting on the couch. The girls laugh walking to their rooms.
" Come on Taylor why did you attack Derek like that?" Grace sits across from me.
" I did attack him. He thought that I wasnt able to train the pack and I showed him who's stronger." I lean back o the couch. Grace looks at me for a few seconds.
"You know there's a whole town of people ready to attack you and your really being nonchalant about this."
" It's not that I'm being nonchalant about this. I just proved to him that I can train them ." Grace shakes her head leaving the room. I turn the tv on flipping through channels stopping in the news.
It's been three years since the killing of the McKinnon family. They will be forever in our hearts. As well as their two daughters, wherever they may be. In the next two months there will be a private council regarding a replacement as head of the immortals. I turn the tv off getting up from the couch walking into the kitchen. I go in the fridge grabbing a peach. I run the peach under some water.
Why wait this long for a replacement. They could have easily found someone take over until Noime came of age. What are they trying to do? I take a bite thinking about the situation. I need to get my hands on the old book. It will have the answers I need.
Kaine
We pull up to the Fall packs territory. We get out of the car walking to one of the guards.
" I'm Kaine from the moonlight pack. I talked to the alpha about looking at the outside perimeter."
" I was informed. I'll be escorting you to the house. " We follow into the woods.
"Has Dominick Walts,been around lately?" "There's reports of him coming at night then leaving at first light. He doesn't stay in that house for long." I nod my head looking at Tommy.
" Was there anyone that he was close to?" " He wasn't very social with the pack." We stand a few feet from an old wooden lodge. The closer we got to the lodge we smelt a alfow smell.
" What's that smell?" Tommy covers his nose. I take a big sniff before covering my nose.
" A dead body." We walk faster to the lodge with dead animals scattered around the property.
What the f**k. We walk on the porch seeing the door open. I look over at Tommy and he nods his head. We walk in the house slowly. The furniture was broken and torn in the living room.
" Stay where your at. I'm calling in reinforcements." Tommy and I stand in the middle of the room looking around.
Looks like there was a huge fight.
Yeah.
There must be a reason for the dead animals outside.
Yeah, he's probably hiding a body or something in here massing that smell with the dead animals. I nod my head. I look closely at the furniture.
Whoever he fought had the same strength and speed as him.Could it be another werewolf or an immortal?
Footsteps break my train of thought. As I turn around Alpha Tim walks in with a few men behind him.
" What's going on Ray?"
" I wanted you to come down here before we go farther." Tim nods his head, " nice to meet you Kaine." Tim holds his hand out and I shake his hand.
" Nice meeting you alpha. This is my partner Tommy," they shake hands. We follow Ray down the hall.
" What f*****g happened here." Tim looks at half the wall gone.
" Damn who was he fighting?" Tommy stares at the wall. We walk into the kitchen to blood everywhere. Tim steps forward sniffing the blood.
" An immortal." I raise my eyebrow before sniffing. The scent smells similar to girls but more metal. Like the person has metal in their blood.
" Spread out, look for a body." Me and Tommy stay with Tim. Tim opens the basement door, slowly walking down the steps. The smell of decaying smacks me in the face.
Who did he kill? We walk around the basement moving junk around.
" Alpha." We all walk in Ray's direction. Two bodies lay next to each other on tarp. Alpha Tim bends down in front of the bodies.
" Shay." Tim moves closer to the smaller body whileI study the other body. I crouch down inspecting the body. There are gashes and a couple broken bones.
They couldn't have been a werewolf. I move closer sniffing around the body, human.
" Alpha Tim," I stand up.
"Yes."
"This one is a human." He moves over to the other body sniffing.
" f**k," Tim stands up.
" Get men down here and get men looking for Dominick Walts."
" Yes alpha," Ray walks away.
" You said that you work for NOPD."
" Yes, we here to follow on a lead about Walts." Tim shakes his head " follow me to my office." We walk out the house when Tim gets stopped.
" Alpha what's going on?" A white man walks over to us.
" Jess I'll tell you when we get to my office." They stare at each other for a few seconds, " there's a car waiting." We walk through the woods to the pack grounds with black SUV parked.
Jess gets in the driver seat while alpha Tim gets in the passenger seat. Tommy and me, get in the back.
Keep your eyes peeled. We're in another pack's territory.
Gottach you. The drive was quick, we park in front of a brick house getting out of the car. We walk in the house going to the back. Tim opens the door to his office.
" You're Alpha James son," Tim takes a seat behind the desk.
" Yes."
" What were you guys here for?"
" We got a tip on Walts and wanted to see if we could corner him at home." Tim nods his head " since you guys are NOPD. I would like you two on this case."
" We can do that but we need all the information that you have on Walts." Tim gets up going to a file cabinet. He opens a drawer pulling out a folder.
" This is everything that we have on Walts," he hands me the folder.
" Thanks, I'll call the forensics team and have them look at the bodies."
" Okay, Jess will take you to your car." We stand up following Jess out of the office. Jess drives us back to our car.
" Thanks." Jess nods his head, " I got a question?"
" What is it?"
" Was any of the bodies a pack member or someone familiar." Jess clears his throat " the smaller one was Tim's little sister. She's been missing for a few days. We thought nothing of it since her and Tim always argue and she disappears."
" Do you know who the other body is?"
" Don't know but I'm thinking that's Shay's human mate." Before I could ask another question Jess pulls off.
" What are you thinking?" Tommy leans against the car.
" I don't know if Walts killed them or Alpha Tim." Tommy raises his eyebrow " why you say that?"
" They have been arguing and the sister leaves. It can't be a coincidence that both her and her mate are both dead in the basement of the man we are looking into." I open the door getting in the driver seat " call the forensics team while I look in this file." I look thought the file seeing the packs he transferred to and his time in the army. I get to the last page finding that this mother is originally from the Fall pack and his grandmother passed away last year.
" There on the way." I nod my head staring at the page.
" What are you looking at?"
" Evidence that Tim killed his sister and her mate."
