I closed the door to my room to minimize the noise we were for sure going to have. Hailey, Adrian's sister, finally found the time for her chaotic life to sleep over.
It was half-past eight and I couldn't tell whether she was on a sugar high or just excited about finally spending some time together. Since breaking up with Adrian, he has made sure to break me and Hailey up, too. Always making up excuses for her not to show up or hear from me.
Currently, I have shared with her the incident involving yesterday's encounter.
"This apple is green but that b***h's envy is greener!" Hailey exclaimed, laughing with madness.
I was telling her about what had happened these past few days. We were currently in my room eating unhealthy snacks and were about to watch romantic movies. Like 50 First Dates. That's our type of sleepover.
Hailey was jumping uncontrollably on my bed while eating a granny smith apple and she looked like a kid on Christmas. What's up with her?
"I didn't even know who she was," I rolled my eyes, remembering the incident with Kenny Hastings.
"What did Clara say, anyway?"
"Nothing. She just wanted to hitch a ride with me."
"Her nerve. She spoke to my brother, tried convincing you wrong, then carpooled with you. She's amazing!" She cackled.
"She did get me out of that almost one date with Kenny Hastings though. That guy was way weirder and to have spoken a few minutes more with him was torture." I reasoned.
Okay, maybe I was afraid of Clara, just a little bit. She was a badass woman, intimidating to any regular Barbies like me.
I had to shush her before she woke up my whole family. It was already ten and I'd get in real trouble if she kept on shouting.
I rolled my eyes. "Oh shut up. You like her."
She does. She once told me that Clara was 'cool' to hang out with. But I will always be cooler than any Clara O'Bryan, her words not mine.
"I do. I like my brother, too. But there are just too many assholes in this world." This time I giggled at her.
We always did this. Talk about her brother like he wasn't her brother. It's always so amusing to backstab Adrian Harper with his sister.
"How 'bout Damien?"
"Well, he's still an ass. He's so cocky about what he did to me."
"What? That he made you cheat on my brother? That he made you split up?" She turned to me, munching a Twix bar.
She has such a petite body but she eats like an elephant. How is that possible?
I c****d my eyebrows at her. "Are you seriously reminding me of what I did, unintentionally?"
You heard it right. I cheated on Adrian with Damien, unintentionally.
"It was just a kiss. I don't get why Adie is stressed so much over it."
It was just a kiss. But to Adrian, it was a whole lot more. It was step one on our relationship's road to doom.
"It wasn't just a kiss to him, Hails," I told her, scanning my movie tapes. "I feel like watching a horror movie. How about Paranormal Activity 4?"
"So you're defending my brother now? Next thing I know, you're dating each other again," she uttered, amused. "And no, you choose that every time we watch horror."
"I'm never dating your brother again. If I could, I'd rather date you. It's just that I despise Damien more than your brother."
"Well, count me on that hate train! Damien White deserves all the credit for ruining your picture-perfect relationship." She exclaimed.
"Shut up, Harps. You're gonna get me killed."
She grinned, holding a pillow and pointing it at me. "Now what did I tell you about calling me 'Harps'?"
I smiled coyly. "I don't know. Did you tell me anything about it?"
"I forbid it, Charlie! I forbid the word 'Harps' in this household." With that, she threw the pillow at me.
"This is my household, Harps." I playfully glared at her.
"Charlie!" She whined. I chuckled at her.
"Okay. What do you want to watch?"
"Adam Sandler?" I sighed.
I knew she was going to say that. Every time she picks a movie she always chooses one with Adam Sandler on it. I don't know what she sees in that old guy.
"Are we gonna watch more Adam Sandler movies, Charlie?" She piped from behind me.
"No, we're not watching him again. Let's pick something fun!" I whisper-screamed, banging my fist in the air.
"I know what we should watch," she grinned excitedly. I know this one!
"The Conjuring series!" We shouted at the same time, laughing our ass off.
"Girls, stop shouting!" Dad called and we put on our 'oops' faces. Busted.
"Sorry, dad!" I called back. Hailey and I giggled.
Hailey turned off the lights and we snuggled together in bed. I played the movie and we started giggling and eating.
We do this at least once a month. Eat. Gossip. Sleep late. Gossip more. Watch movies. Then have some more gossip.
We watched the movie with one hand on our faces but fingers wide open. It's a damn scary movie! We screamed and shouted, but not loud enough for mom and dad to hear downstairs. We laughed at certain points. Mostly when Hailey makes fun of the characters.
We finished Conjuring 1 and I was about to play the second when Hailey spoke.
"You know Lottie, I don't think Damien was only in it for the epic bragging rights it came with."
"What do you mean?"
"Haven't you ever wondered why Damien specifically snitched on you when he could've snitched on anyone else? He's a bad boy. Who doesn't fall for the bad boy?"
"What, so I'm not good enough for Damien White?" I asked, baffled by her question which came out of the blue.
"It's not that, babe," she put a finger on her chin as if thinking. "He kissed you. He didn't even bother or try to go past first base, did he? And he plays baseball, too. Everyone knows, in baseball, a win is a home run."
"We've established that, Hailey. He kissed me. So what?"
"It's just that, he slept with half of the girls in Rosemont, then he only kissed you?!"
"What're you getting at, Hails?" I was puzzled and becoming irritated by the minute. Delaying movies for a movie night with this irrelevant topic is boring.
