Hope’s P.O.V
I knew that Erick and May would be here any time now, so I got dinner ready and Rune had told everyone not to train, act weird in any way or shift while she was here. Rune was just as excited to meet her as I was, after all she was our future daughter in law. I went into the kitchen to make sure that dinner was nearly done. We were having stuffed bell peppers smothered in cheese and it smelled so good that it made my mouth water. I was just plating it all up when I heard a truck pulling up and then I felt a mind-link coming through.
“Luna Hope, future Alpha Erick, is here with his mate.” The guard at the gate, Cameron, said, mind-linking me.
“Brilliant, thank you.” I replied and ended the link. I was so excited and nervous that my heart was beating ten to the dozen and I had to calm it down.
“Are you ready to meet our possible future daughter in law, love?” Rune asked, coming out of the office as I came out of the kitchen. What did he mean by that?
“Possible?” I asked, confused, but he just shook his head.
“I’ll explain later. Come on, they’re pulling up, let's go meet them outside.” Rune said and I nodded.
“Everyone is ready and dinner is ready too, so I hope that she’s hungry.” I replied, excitedly giggling.
Rune’s P.O.V
I knew that Hope and I were both nervous about meeting Erick’s mate, even though Hope had already met her, but only briefly. I was even more nervous after I had slipped up by calling her our possible daughter in law, when I hadn’t even told Hope about what Erick was planning to do the other night and the talk I had with him. I didn’t know if he was still thinking about rejecting her after this or not and that made me even more nervous. Hope and I walked to the front door, but the closer we got the faster our hearts were beating. So much so that we had to stop and calm them down before we accidentally shifted. We didn’t want to do that in the pack house and especially not in front of May, not right now at least. The last thing we needed was her screaming and running away. Hope and I managed to calm our excitement and nerves down enough so that we wouldn’t shift, so then walked out the front door to meet them. Hope and I were smiling so widely as Erick and his mate drove up.
May’s P.O.V
I was getting really nervous when we stopped at the huge set of gates and some big dude opened them up, nodding at us as we drove by. What the hell was that all about, is this some kind of mafia thing or something? I thought to myself, but I didn’t dare ask because I really didn’t want to know at first. We drove for a little bit longer and it was eating away at me, so I decided to ask.
“So what’s with the guard and huge gate, are you in the mafia or something?” I asked and Erick started laughing.
“We are a big family and we have a lot of land, but sometimes others, that are not supposed to come onto our land, trespass and we have to keep them out. We are not the mafia, trust me, we’re not.” Erick replied and I only nodded.
“Yeah right.” I said, whispering to myself, but he must have heard me because he started laughing again. We finally came to the end of the long driveway and pulled up in front of this huge house, which only made me even more convinced that they were mafia. This house wasn’t a house, it was a mansion, it was that big. It had a white porch that looked like it wrapped around the whole house, plus it had chairs and tables on it so that whoever wanted to could sit out here and drink lemonade or something. There was a porch swing that I loved and would actually sit on for hours just reading or booking out at the gardens here. I looked up at the house and saw that it was at least three or four stories high, not including if they had an attic or basement, which thinking about it, I’m sure the mafia would make sure to have. I carried on looking round at everything else and saw that there were a few gardens to the side that looked like veggie gardens, but also flower gardens, which were beautiful. Maybe I will be able to plant a couple of gardens soon at my house. I looked back at the porch and saw that Mrs Hope was standing there with a man next to her and I assumed it was her husband. He looked like the man in the picture I saw when I was trying to find stuff online about the supernatural. Erick got out of the car and before I even had a chance he had opened my door and was holding out his hand for me. I took his hand and got out of the car, then we walked over to the front door of the house, where Hope quickly jogged down the steps and right over to me, pulling me into a bone crushing hug.
“May, I am so glad you could come, this is my husband Rune, welcome to our home.” Hope said and I hugged her back.
“Thank you for having me, you have a beautiful home, Mrs Hope and Mr Rune.” I said, smiling, but then Hope pulled away from me and scowled at me. Had I done something wrong? I thought to myself, worried.
“Now what have I told you, it's Hope. just call me Hope and him Rune. there is no need for this Mr and Mrs stuff. Now come on in and I’ll show you around, then if you're hungry we can have dinner. It's already ready and waiting.” Hope said, scolding me and all I could do was nod.
“Sure, I think I could eat something. I haven’t had any dinner just yet.” I replied as Hope took my hand and started leading me inside.
“Well good, come on then, let's go eat.” Hope said and I nodded.
“Dad, mom is stealing my girlfriend.” I heard Erick whisper behind us, but then I heard Rune chuckle as they followed us inside. When I walked inside the house I was shocked to see how massive it truly was. There was a huge hallway that had what I’m guessing were family photos covering the walls. There were even swords mounted on the walls as well, which was really cool and I liked how they looked because it looked like a coat of arms how they had done it. There were beautiful wooden china cabinets with glass doors that had different styles of salt and pepper shakers in them, some of which looked cute and others had really detailed designs on them. Hope took me over to the doorway of a large room and then stopped.
“This is the living room. The kids come in here, sit and play their games and sometimes watch movies. As you can see and hear there are some in there right now.” Hope said and just as she finished the kids turned and looked at Hope, then nodded at her, which confused me. Why wouldn’t they just say hi or hey or even hello? I thought to myself, but then Hope just nodded back at them and they carried on with whatever it was they were doing.
“Come on, let me show you the family room.” Hope said, leading me further down the hallway. We walked for a few seconds and then came to a huge room that had several couches and a few chairs in there. There was a huge TV mounted on the wall and a beautiful dark marble coffee table in the middle of the chairs and couches.
“This is our family room, whenever we want to gather, sit and talk about our days, our troubles or even have meetings, then we come here and talk about it. Now let me show you the dining hall where we’ll be eating.” Hope said, leading me to another room. I was a little taken back when we walked into the dining hall because I was not expecting to see so many chairs and tables, plus there were so many people in here. I just thought it was going to be like a normal dining room, but I was wrong. Everyone turned and looked at us, nodding as the others had and then they turned back to their food. Hope led me over to a table, where she sat next to Rune and I sat next to Erick. We all began to eat and I couldn’t help digging in because the stuffed peppers tasted so good. I would have to cook them my stuffed biscuits one day, but I would have to invite them over to my house so that I could cook for them, which wouldn’t be a problem.
Erick’s P.O.V
I was so proud of my pack members for doing as we had asked when they saw us. Normally they would call mom and dad Alpha and Luna, but they merely nodded as a gesture of respect, which was greatly appreciated. I’m not sure how I would have explained it to May had they called them by their titles. When we were done eating I managed to steal my mate back from my mom and I took her upstairs, wanting to show her my room. When I got to the top of the stairs I smelled a she-cats scent and I could only thank the Moon Goddess that I remembered to change the locks on my door. I don’t need or want any drama, especially not right now. I unlocked my door and opened it, letting May walk in first and then I shut the door behind me as I walked in after her. Thankfully I changed the sheets as well because even though I hadn’t been with anyone, I still didn’t want the smell from those two that crept in here stuck on my sheets.
May’s P.O.V
I took a look around his bedroom and was surprised at how nice and clean it was, especially for a single man. There was a huge bed in the middle, a couch and a chair on the side wall, a TV mounted on another wall and a big dresser on the other side of the room. Erick walked over to the window and opened it up, revealing a balcony, so I walked out onto it and looked out at everything. This was so peaceful and I loved it.
“It's so beautiful here, Erick.” I said, walking back into the room.
“Thank you, I was hoping that you would say that. I admit I was a little nervous bringing you here and I wanted to show you around, but then my mom beat me to it.” Erick replied, making me laugh as he shook his head.
“So what do you want to do? We can sit on the couch and watch some TV or we can lay on the bed and watch a film?” Erick asked and I smirked, knowing exactly what I wanted to do, but I held back.
“How about we sit on the couch and watch a film, do you have Netflix?” I asked and he nodded.
“I sure do, come on, let's sit down and relax. We could watch a movie called ‘Brain on Fire’ if you want to, it's a good movie and based on a true story too.” Erick replied and I nodded. We sat down on the couch and he put the TV and Netflix on, then typed in the movie title.
Erick’s P.O.V
I sat back and relaxed a little as we started watching the movie and I was facing the TV when I felt a link coming through.
“You be careful, she’s human, Erick, so remember that.” Mom said, mind-linking me.
“Mom, we’re only watching a movie and we are sitting on the couch, so you don’t have to worry.” I replied, mind-linking her back and I swear I could feel her roll her eyes at me.
“Erick, behave, I mean it, I know what things can go on, especially when just sitting on a couch and watching a movie. I am married to your father, you know.” Mom replied and it took everything in me not to gag.
“Eww, mom that's gross, seriously way too much information.” I replied and heard her laughing through the link. I shut off the link between us, not wanting to hear anymore, but so that May wouldn’t notice anything was wrong as well. Thankfully she never did and we carried on watching the movie, but before I knew it I could hear light snoring and when I looked over at her I smiled. She had fallen asleep. She must have been really tired, I thought as I carefully got up from the couch. I gently picked her up, so as not to wake her and carried her over to my bed, then laid her down. It was Sunday tomorrow and I knew it was her day off because the store would be closed, so she didn’t have to be up early. I took her shoes off and pulled the blanket over her. I watched her as she snuggled into the pillow and it made me smile at how comfy she was here.
“Mom, she fell asleep, so I put her in my bed and covered her up.” I said, mind-linking my mom.
“Well, I must admit we weren’t expecting that, but if she wakes up in the middle of the night and wants to go home then you take her home.” Mom replied, mind-linking me back.
“Alright mom, I will.” I said and ended the link. I went to the closet and grabbed a spare pillow and blanket, then went back over to the couch and sat down. I lay down and pulled the blanket over me, then carried on watching the rest of the movie, but before I knew it I was drifting off to sleep.
