We learned about it in science: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Newton tells us that when an object here interacts with that object there, the end result is that they exert forces upon each other. Forces, we’re taught, always come in pairs—equal and opposite, action-reaction. We were taught it in religion: Do unto others what you would have done unto yourself. For everything one chooses to do, there is a consequence. Some are positive, some are negative, but the fact that there be consequence is irrefutable.
