CHAPTER 11THE ARMED FORCES OF LIBERIA After being generously served a tasty lunch by the good sisters, Cian and I walked leisurely back to the plane. The sound of an unmufflered vehicle rumbled down the road. A military truck was raising a red, dusty cloud in its wake. It was traveling at a good speed for a truck that size. It skidded to a stop in front of the airplane. A man wearing clean army fatigues jumped out and hurried toward us. I could see by the insignia on his collar that he was a Liberian officer.
