Chapter 9

Pierce .

I drove so fast as I gasped at what I had just done .

The aim was to threaten her not to shoot her , how did I not think straight , how stupid of me to go with a loaded gun . This is a whole new damage. I don't think I will walk out of this in one piece.

Anna will skin me alive , I swore to her I will stay out of trouble . What was I thinking!

She won't know would she . I have the gun , it will be that woman's word against mine . No proof that I shot her . There was no witness , it was just she and I.

I can deny all charges and create an alibi.

At one point I contemplated on going back to ensure she was still alive but then I thought maybe she would call the cops on me.

I got to my office, talk of the devil.

Anna was waiting for me .

"Pierce you are not going to believe this ! "

Did she find out ?

" look , oh my god look Pierce!"

She showed me several magazines with headlines of the premier.

" everyone is talking about how you both seemed so inlove . Great acting. Damien's tape further boosted . We have won hearts Pierce . I have to call Kalahari to thank her. "

Stop her !

" oh no! No need , maybe she's having a class and you know interrupting her and all"

" yeah , you are right. Wow ! You suddenly care about her yet you were a bitter Betty a few moments ago on her "

Rage pumped inside me to shoot her.

I am in deep s**t.

" Aside from that, I managed to get a great venue for the wedding, a wedding planner and decor . I will make the press gossip for days. "

A wedding with a bride that's probably dead. The only gossip going round will be the heir of the Diamante Jewellery and companies is a murderer . Killed his very own fiancé. It's only a matter of time before she gets the dreadful call to head to the station .

I felt so guilty.

Hate is a lethal thing.

Her phone rang , she immediately picked it .

Her expression shifted to dismay.

" am on my way , right now, Avenue yes , got it ". she mumbled .

" what happened? " I tried to control my voice from shaking.

" that was a call from the hospital, Kalahari was shot . "

" what ! "

" yes , "

" did she say by whom? "

" I didn't get all the details besides that . God I am so f****d up, for putting her at risk like this " she said frantically.

It's not your fault Anna , it's mine.

She drove to St Joseph's hospital. The doctor informed us they were going to take the bullet out of her arm . Nothing other than that.

Kalahari.

I wasn't going to die like a dog . I took a towel and tied around my arm to stop the bleeding.

My phone was completely off after falling in the water.

I walked out of my apartment, I wasn't feeling well as the fever was also taking a toll on me .A gunshot wound and fever .I would have given up and waited to die.But I did not.

I had to get to the local chemist to get something to help stop the bleeding. Morphine could help with the pain .

I knew I would get weaker and weaker so I had to rush wasting my last energy by running. The tied towel dropped somewhere along the way .

The blood was oozing out , my breathing was shifting to slow as vision became so blurry .

I saw a nearby chemist just as I got to the door I dropped to my knees.

" ma'am, are you okay? Oh my god Larry she's bleeding, Call an ambulance"

" shot ...arm ...need to... stop..." I stammered before passing out.

When I came to I was in a hospital. A bandage tied around my arm along with a sling .Lucky I wasn't dead .

I got down from the bed.

I hate hospitals .I hate the smell, the beds ,the food . Everything about the hospital makes me sick .

Searching for my clothes all over the place . Having to use one hand was already a nightmare .That man shot me , all for what?

What I do know is he wasn't aiming at killing me , he came to threaten me .If he wanted to kill me he wouldn't need to do it in my home . An enemy will always kill you where people are so they can watch you breath your last as he triumphs over it.

" Oh my! You should be resting " Anna marched in .

" am okay Anna , I can't stay here ."

" come , please rest .You were shot . "

Yes by my future husband, your brother .

Knowing how persistent she would get ,I went back to the bed.One thing I like about this lady is she does not back down , she will persist until you do as she wishes .

She adjusted the pillows so I could comfortably lay down .

" am glad you are okay, do you remember what happened?"

I had two options .To either say who shot me or to get a leverage.

There is something I want Pierce the Pierce to do for me .This is my chance to get him to do as I want .In a way it's a blessing I disguise.

What I want heavily relies on him accepting as I also don't have much time.

I need to do it as soon as possible.

This is my golden ticket.

Or come out plainly and say what is going on .That Pierce came to my home and shot me out of his own vendetta.

I can file an attempted murder charge .He would be forced to pay me compensation for giving me so much trauma and he would be a clown again.Its a great ideas as I could benefit greatly from this but the problem is it would pain Anna.She has worked hard to ensure the press are saying good things about her brother.Bad press affects their business.

It will be another bad news on top.of another.

" Just a little "

" what can you remember dear , am sorry for asking all of this , I really want to catch whoever did this " she said .

" all I remember is I was going somewhere. Suddenly I felt pain on my arm. On looking I realized I was shot. I went to the nearest place I saw to get help"

" oh dear, that's so bad .Am so sorry about that. " she was emotional.

" it's okay. I didn't see it coming"

The door burst open , the devil himself walked in . When his gaze met mine I sensed fear, guilt and dismay.

Anna was really upset.

Pierce was trying to find a way to see if I had told her anything.

" I will inform the cops , so the can investigate on this ."

" what happened? " Pierce asked .

" Somebody shot her , she doesn't know who, she was going somewhere and a bullet just hit her. "

Pierce's expression was packed with confusion.

" That's terrible " he remarked .

" indeed, but am glad to be alive . " I replied.

" hope the cops catch him, shame of a man to shoot a lady ! Let me have a word with the doctor will be back in a few. " she said .

The door clicked Pierce walked up to where I lay.

" what games you playing?"

" happy to see you too" I smirked .

" Why didn't you tell her it was me ? " he ordered

" I have my own reasons ."

" why is what I want to know "

" I want you to do something for me " I said .

" not a chance in hell woman"

" well then , Anna is going to come back any moment from now with the cops .I will tell them how you came to my house , held me at gunpoint, I tried to fight you and you shot me , left me to bleed to death. Maybe even make it an attempted rape and murder case .After all you tried to shoot me.Anna will be very surprised to hear her brother wanted to sexually abuse and kill his fiance before the wedding .

" am glad we are getting along."

His gaze was fury.

" you have no proof"

" I had security measures after you walked in the first time. A hidden camera for my safety. Recorded you coming in and going out , holding a gun at me and running away . Your sister is going to be so dissappointed in you ,all this hardwork , flushed into the toilet. I will take you to court sue you , your name will be tarnished so bad . You won't get back up from another damage especially on your fiancé. With the" me too" movement ,you will be a walking shame . Something not even your sister will be proud of "

I said .

I took so much joy in tormenting him.

He thought he was the god of all.He was in for a very rude surprise.

He bit his lower lip furiously.

" what may I do for Miss Kalahari" he stated sarcastically.

" Now we are talking, how good are you with children?"

" I want you to take a child ."

" steal a kid ? What do I look like ? A baby nurse ?"

I chuckled.

" no , you are not stealing a baby, you are taking away a child"

" I don't steal children"

" you are not stealing a child. You are taking the child. Will you just stop stating and listen to what I have to say. "

" okay go ahead , " he said dismissively.

" Find out what you can about Molly Shepiro "

" Molly Shepiro lives in Avenue Street , a green house next to an antique shop, she's six ."

" you already know about her so what am I supposed to find out. Isn't she one of your students ?"

" stop asking questions , be a good boy .The same way you were when you happily walked into my house with a loaded gun."

I feel so good to have a leverage as he has no option but to obey what I say.

" that's where you come in .Once you know where she lives , you do everything you rich people do to take kids ."

" I am an immigrant not a citizen. The most I can do is glare from a far , she's my student that's all you should know . You have to be fast, and also confirm is she went to school . Now go ... " I snapped my fingers .

" stealing children ...." he mumbled under his breath.

" how can I be sure you will keep your word ?" he asked .

Anna marched in with the doctor and a police officer .

Pierce face froze.

Seems he has a fear of men in blue ...oh yeah I remember

he feared it at that moment.

I waved at him to get out.
