CHAPTER 6
Hyan's workday would start early. His team was busy with the day's requirements. Other members went down to the vehicle earlier to place some equipment they would need for the day. Hyan's team was meticulous. From his stylist to technical consultants, they made sure they maintained the standards.
Dennis was waiting for Hyan, and when he came out of the room, they immediately proceeded to the elevator. When they were about to ride the elevator, Hyan checked if Dennis had followed his instruction.
"Dennis, did you arrange the lunch delivery for Charrie?" Hyan looked at him.
"Yes! They will deliver at noon. I also told the kitchen to cancel her order if, by chance, she placed an order. Okay? Are you happy?" Dennis gave him a face and rolled his eyes.
"Alright, let's rock the day!" Hyan smiled, ignoring Dennis's sarcasm.
Three SUVs rolled from the hotel to their destination. It was going to be a long and tiring day for everybody. His first shoot at 9 am will be followed by another at 3 pm, which will last until the clients are satisfied. In between commercial tapping were photoshoots and interviews. This day has been their regular ritual in all the countries they have visited for two months.
The Hyan team was all experienced, and they made sure everything ran smoothly so they could manage Hyan's time. If it was a task for Hyan, it was more difficult for his team. However, they all need to protect Hyan because, ultimately, Hyan will be the one to perform. Fortunately, Hyan was a considerate actor, he knew what was expected of him, and he delivered because he knew the hardship of his men.
Meanwhile...
Charrie woke up late that day, and she went to bed at almost midnight last night. Anyway, her team will arrive after lunch, so she still has the entire morning. She did her routine and checked her correspondence.
She took the day off yesterday, so her unopened emails accumulated. Even though She could not question her team's efficiency, a handful of work still needed her guidance.
As she did her task, a message appeared on her phone. She glanced at it immediately.
Hyan did send her a photo taken during his set of the exclusive and high-class apparel for men. He tried to appear ugly in the picture but failed, and he still looks handsome and cute.
"Cute!" she typed and send the message to him.
Hyan sent her three hearts emoticon in response that made her smile. "Gosh! We are like teenagers!" but she didn't type it.
Another message came from Hyan: "Your lunch will be served at 12nn. Enjoy it!!!"
In her mind: "Here you are again. You are disrupting my peace. What will I do with you, Mr. handsome?".
She couldn't think of anything to say. She sent Hyan a thank you, emoticon.
He responded with a "Welcome" emoticon.
Charrie told herself...Just enjoy his attention for now, but don't let it affect you too much. The man has conquered your world since you met him, and you do not have enough strength to stop it yet. You will accept the friendship, and you are safe with the man. But--bear it in mind...His world is different from yours.
Her food delivery arrived on time, and she was surprised at the amount of food he ordered. The food set has an appetizer, main entrée of fish and meat, salad, desserts, and fruits, and in her estimation could feed ten people. "Was he thinking I am insatiable?" Charrie took a picture of everything on the table and sent it to Hyan.
The message stated: "Do you plan to have a party?"
She instantly received a reply: "- just enjoy them!" with a laughing emotion.
Charrie responded, "Big thanks."
He sent her: a heart.
She turned on the television; she wanted to hear some current events. She tried to update on the latest happenings internationally and listened to Hyan's visit news.
The news flashed several pictures of Hyan when he arrived. The newsman also stated that he would be busy filming for endorsements and other schedules ahead. He has many followers because he did a movie with a Japanese actress before, and the Japanese people appreciated him everywhere.
It was past 2:00 pm when her team arrived. Tina and Dan accompanied Charrie and Joe. The four of them will help Charrie prepare for the event on Friday. It's a good thing Hyan sent a lot of food during lunch. The team enjoyed it after reheating. They were busy the whole afternoon with the preparations.
It was after 8:00 pm when they finally stopped working. Dinner was served in the suite to save time. Joe and Dan decided to check the hotel's lounge for a nightcap, and the ladies decided to stay and clear the area of their paperwork that was left scattered all over the place as they worked.
Charrie went to her room and left Candies and Tina in the lounge.
She heard the doorbell ringing, but she thought it was just Joe and Dan, so she didn't mind it anyway, the ladies were still there.
Candies immediately went to the door and opened it, thinking just like Charrie that it was just Joe. Candies and Tina were shocked when they recognized who it was.
"Hello," Hyan smiled at Candies and Tina.
"Hello!" Candies was still stunned when she realized the man's identity.
"Is Charrie still awake?" he grinned.
"Yes! Yes! She's still awake. Please come in. I will call her," Candies managed to contain her shock and anchored Hyan to the sofa. She hurried to the room to call Charrie.
On the other hand,
Tina was also shocked, but she decided to talk to Hyan while he was waiting for Charrie.
Candies closed the door inside Charrie's room and leaned on it for some time. She saw Charrie as she came out of the bathroom.
"You are bad! Charrie, how come you did not tell me about this famous actor?" Candies yelled as she tried to catch her breath.
"Hyan? Is he here?" Charrie asked. Her friend must be referring to none other than Hyan.
"Yes! He's at the lounge! Faster, go and see him! And later, you have a lot of explaining to do." Charrie knew Candies, she wouldn't stop until she tell her everything.
She released a deep breath and stepped out of the room. Charrie saw Hyan saw Hyan standing straight with both hands in his pockets. He turned when he noticed her presence.
Hyan was wearing a formal suit. He was looking dangerously sexy in a black suit and crisp white shirt. To add to that, his hair was meticulously styled. Without a doubt, he was breathtaking. Charrie held her breathe while gazing at him.
"Hi Charrie," Hyan greeted her smiling, completely unaware of how handsome he looked.
Although still surprised to see him, she managed to hide her emotion. "Hello," Charrie greeted him back.
"I just dropped by for a short talk over coffee--" she saw the coffee on the table from a known coffee brand.
"Although I only got 2, I can ask someone to buy more," he added. The additional coffee would be for Candies and Tina.
Hyan forgot that Charrie was no longer alone.
Candies immediately understood what he meant, so she said, "Oh-- Please don't mind us. We will leave you for a moment. We have something to do." Candies and Tina proceeded to their room, leaving Hyan and Charrie alone. "Nice meeting you," they added before closing the room.
Hyan responded, "Thank you, ladies, and I am pleased to meet you too!"
When they were alone, the room suddenly became so quiet.
To ease the sudden awkwardness between them, she murmured, "Wow, look at you! So gwapo (handsome)." She giggled after uttering the compliment.
"Gwapo?" Hyan asked as she said a Filipino word.
"Yes! Meaning handsome," Charrie laughed.
"Ohhh! Am I gwapo?" he asked, smiling.
"Fishing for more compliments?" Charrie replied, smiling.
Hyan laughed. Charrie was certain he received compliments like this most of the time, but-- she had no idea that Hyan felt better when the praise came from her. He liked it when she expressed her feelings freely.
"I came to spend a little time with you." he whispered, "It's good to talk and laugh after an exhausting day." He uttered sincerely.
He extended a hand to give her the cup of coffee he brought with him.
Charrie accepted it and smiled at him. She sat on the sofa with him and tried to relax.
"How was the tapping?"
"Oh, it went well, as expected. The crew was very professional, and their equipment...all top of the line," Hyan expressed his genuine appreciation with the Japanese production team.
"That's good to hear," she nodded. She was aware of the professionalism of the people in this part of the world. She couldn't fault their high regard and thrust to be excellent in everything they engage in.
"How about yours?" Hyan asked, interested to know how she spent the day.
"Well, they are finally here." Referring to her team. "Our work--done for the day, and tomorrow will be the set up of the booth," she shared.
After several exchanges about the day's events, Hyan called it a night. He just really wanted to see her.
He was more relaxed and comfortable after spending time with Charrie--a feeling so close to home.
He stood up, Charrie followed him.
He suddenly turned around before he reached the door. As if Hyan wanted to say something but still finding the words to say. He closed his eyes, and when he opened them, he leveled himself to Charrie, looked her vividly in the eye, and then slowly, he pressed his lips on her cheek. Gently. Softly.
"Good night, Charrie" he caressed her cheek with his hand. "I missed you!" he added, with sudden radiance in his eyes. He seemed pleased.
Charrie, not knowing what to say and how to react, just stared at him.
Hyan smiled. "Sleep well!" then he closed the door and left.
It was just a peck, but Charrie felt a surge of the current so strong when he did it. She's like a teen who just received a kiss from her crush. She was stunned. "Wang Hyan, you showed up so handsome in my room, kissed me, and now I don't know if I can get a good sleep. How can you do this to me?" Charrie was still processing her thoughts when she saw Candies approaching her.
Candies grabbed her hand and pushed her to her room.
"Now, you explain, what is this all about?" Candies looked at her intently; Candies would not let the day pass without this scoop. They were peeping at her door excitedly, watching the two of them.
"Honestly? I don't know. I have no intention, Candies, of hiding it from you, Candies!" Charrie said.
"I am your best friend, why don't I know about it?" she appeared hurt, but. She wasn't more excited.
"Candies, it just happened so soon. I have yet to process it." She told her candidly.
"Huh! Why are you so slow? Oh my God, with a man like that, do not think anymore!" wide-eyed, Candies told her. Was she not aware of who he was? So many ladies sought the man.
Charrie swings her head left and right.
"Okay,-- answer me. How did you meet, and when?"
"Airport lounge, just two days ago. Hyan sat on the chair in front of me."
"And then?" Candies was impatient. Charrie was not good at telling stories.
"He invited me out yesterday to celebrate my birthday." She cannot reveal the details yet.
"Aha! I knew something was wrong or right,-- yesterday. It's not you to suddenly take your break after signing up for an important client and not call a zoom meeting afterward. Hence, I know the reason now. I can't blame you, though, even if I got lost on my track with such a man! He's so manly and gorgeous!" Candies was so thrilled.
"You think so, huh? He keeps appearing in my life, I don't know what to do!" which was how she felt at the moment; she hardly had the guts to face it.
"There's a big bed here. If I were you.." Charrie stopped her before she became bolder
"Candies, Stop it! It's just too soon, we've known each other for three days. What do I do with someone so popular?" she gave her a deep stare.
"Teenager Charrie? Try to be crazy for once. If not, give him to me!" Candies was so excited, and she made Charrie laugh.
"Let's call it a night, Candies. Let's see how it unfolds day by day." She wanted the grilling to stop already. She's confused, and she'll be more confused if she listens to Candies.
"Honestly, girl, be happy! Forget about his popularity; see the man behind the glitz and glamour, and if you like it, then let it happen. That's a friendly reminder," Candies told her.
"Friendly reminder? It's like you sold me to the wolves." Charrie said. She couldn't believe what she heard.
"Huff huff," she went out of her room, happy for Charrie. She could sense a steamy romance that was about to happen with her friend. She saw the man's gaze on Charrie, and she would melt like ice if that gaze was on her.
But Charrie, unlike Candies, was old-fashioned when it came to relationships. Candies have yet to remember an instance wherein a man could flare up Charrie's interest.
Hmm. This relationship would even be a fast, thrilling, but dangerous experience for Charrie. How she wished she had been ready for this, and it may be an experience of a lifetime or a heartbreaking tragedy. She couldn't blame her friend at all for being so confused.
