*Josh's POV*
I have never seen Wyatt so angry. I have seen him after his wife died, but that was grief. I have never seen him hold so much anger and anguish before until now. If he loses Leah, he will never recover, and this pack will suffer. I won't let that happen. We have been searching for Leah the entire night and he hasn't let anyone get a break. We have searched the closest packs and told neighboring packs to keep a look out. I can feel my handshake as I put my hand on the office door to open it. Opening it, I step in quietly and see Wyatt at his desk with his head in his hands.
"What's the report Josh?" He says to me.
"We haven't found anything yet. We have searched all night and into the morning. Wyatt, it is almost the afternoon and we have not found anything. The pack needs a break. We know how much she means to you, but you have to care about your pack as well."
"My pack and my Alpha status means nothing without her!" He growls at me.
Bowing my head down, "Alpha, we can look for her after we all get rest, but you have to think about us also."
"FINE! Take a break. The search will continue in a few hours."
Leaving the room, I am lost in my thought. He won't recover from this. I need to come up with a plan if that happens. I will have to step up if he falls. Am I ready for the responsibility of a pack? I know I can do it, but I must think about my family. Would my mate be able to step up as Luna? So much to think about and so much to plan for if that must happen. I head out of the pack house and into the car. I am exhausted and head home. I’ll be able to think better after I get some sleep.
*Wyatt's POV*
I am out of my mind with worry. This is all my fault. I could have avoided this if I would have just let his daughter go. How did they even know about Leah?! I must find her. If they touch her in any way, I will rip that entire pack to shreds. They may be known as the most vicious pack of their area, but my pack is the most vicious of my area. I have heard of their pack before, and I know their reputation I just don’t know their location. I know Josh is worried about the pack; he has every right to be. I need to step it up as Alpha. But I need my Luna. I need to let Josh step up as Alpha for a while so I can go in search for her. I need to be the one to find her. But at first, I need to release the girl I am holding captive. Give her time to get back to her pack just to see if they will let Leah go.
I head to the cells quickly and find the young girl. I quickly open the cell and release her from her chain. "I need you to go home to your father and get him to release my mate."
"I ran away to get away from my father and what his pack stands for. Why would I go back?" she says to me bravely.
"You will go back so he will free my Luna. If you do this and come back, I will welcome you into my pack. I need my Luna."
She ponders this for a moment before speaking. "Why would I want to be a part of your pack now that you have held me captive? You are just like my father."
"I am seeing the error in my ways because of my mate. Please help me and you will be given a higher rank in my pack."
"I will go back to help get your Luna, but I can't make you any promises because my father has a wicked mind."
She slides past me and goes to leave. "Thank you." I say behind her.
Now I will have to wait and see what happens. This is going to be the most torturous wait I have ever had to endure. I call the guards into the cells. "Release them all. Unless they are here because of a crime, let them all go." I say to them.
I head back to the pack house. I need to find things to do to keep myself busy for at least the next month to give time for the girl to make it back to her pack and see her father. I pick up my cell phone and call Josh.
"Josh, I have released the prisoners and have asked the Alphas daughter to go back to him. I would like for you to call a pack meeting for me so I can go over plans and details of what is going to start changing over the next few months."
"I will see the meeting up for within the hour. See you soon." Josh says and hangs up.
Pulling up into the pack house I try to get my mind to calm down. I am little more at ease after letting the girl go. I am hoping for the best, but I need to prepare for the worst. If he doesn’t release her, I will have to go after her myself. I will do anything to get her back. It isn’t long before pack members start piling in to join my pack meeting. With most the members here I wait for Josh to show up before I get started. He shows up late which is unlike him.
"I wanted a pack meeting to let everyone know of my plan. I know recently things have been hard and your Alpha has not been much of an Alpha. As most of you now know I met my second chance mate and one day soon she will be your new Luna. She has been taken and I am trying to med my ways and bring her back to me. I have released everyone in the cells except for the ones who have done crimes. My next step is to release any slaves that are working around the pack lands. I want to start to get this pack back in order and back to the good name is used to hold. I may have to leave soon to help go find our Luna, but Josh will be put in charge while I am gone, and I expect everyone to follow his orders."
The pack speaks in unison. "Yes, Alpha."
I release the pack members and all, but Josh take their leave.
He closes the door before speaking. "Are you sure now is the time to leave?"
"No. I will be here for at least the next month. I am going to give the girl time to get back to her pack and give her time to speak to her father before I leave. If I don't have Leah back by the end of the month I will be going and searching for her myself."
"I will follow your lead, Alpha." Josh says before he leaves my office.
This is going to be the longest month of my life.
