Evelina’s POV
I landed on top of Gabriel, his body taking the brunt of the fall as he cradled me against him.
“Mierda!” he cursed, the wind knocked out of him.
It took me a moment to catch my own breath before I lifted my head from his chest to search for Amaya. She was face down in a patch of grass a few feet away from us.
I had been warned this would happen. Followers of the Dark Witch Sybl were after me. Just like they’d been after my tia Melanie. We’d done so well in keeping my existence a secret from them. From everyone really. But one wrong move and they’ve discovered that another Earth Witch has been born. One they probably hoped they could bend to their will.
It was a no-brainer for me. For now, I had to stick with Gabriel. I’d take him over the dark witches any day. At least
