Ethious: "Come on don't be a weenie," Rayleen taunted Mason as he looked over the cliff behind the cabin. Rayna shook her head amused by his reluctance to jump. "I'm not jumping. That's Hella sketchy," he pointed down at the water before backing away. "I've done it a million times. This is one of the safest places to jump from in Reyna Peak," "Really?" I asked looking over at my mate. She nodded stepping at the edge facing us giving the ocean her back. "I promise," she winked and back flipped off the cliff. My body bolted forward and I jumped after her. I'm not sure why I jumped without looking or why there was no fear. For five seconds, I was airborne. The cool air stings a bit but nothing compared to the way my body came alive when my skin met the water. A rush of adrenaline burst through me as my mind caught up with I had done. I pushed myself to swim back up to look for her. Panic hit me when I couldn't see her. "Rayna," I shouted. "Ethious," her voice rang behind me. I turned around trying to find and nothing. The sound of her voice called out again and I realized her voice is inside my head. More of an echo than the real thing. "Hey, are you lost?" I looked up to see her standing on a boulder. I let out a sigh of relief. What the hell was that? "How did you get out so fast?" I asked once I climbed up next to her. "I've been swimming in the ocean since before I could walk. Surfing since I was eight and cliff diving since I was ten. It's safe to say I am pretty fast in the water," "What are you, a mermaid?" I asked playfully. Her cheeky smile faded. She didn't like that. "Don't ever say that again. Mermaids are evil bitches," she bit out and started to climb up. "Ohhhh kay," I whispered to myself. That was weirdly awkward and highly confusing. She seemed bothered the rest of the day. She told Rayleen about it and they both would look back at me and glare. What the f**k? It was a comment. A comment about mermaids. Mermaids aren't even real. I find it difficult to say but I think I'm going to have to apologize. "What did you do?" Jace asked when I gave the pizza guy money and told him to keep the change. "She told me the ocean has been part of her life since she was a baby and I joked around about her being a mermaid and she said mermaids are evil bitches and walked away from me," he narrowed his eyes at me. "Are you serious?" he asked and I nodded. "Ummm how did you say it?" "Like a joke. I said what are you... a mermaid?" he looked back at the girls as we watched a horror film on the TV. "That's crazy. Apologize. Maybe people made fun of her When she was younger," I nodded grabbing the pack of paper plates we had gotten at the store earlier. The doorbell rang. "I got it," Mason shouted holding up a wad of cash as he ran to the door. He has wanted burgers. The girls both giggled shaking their heads. Jace gave me a light shove towards them. "Hey," I greeted sitting next to Rayna. I handed her a plate. She took it setting it down in front of me without glancing up in my direction. Mason brought the boxes of pizza along with two paper bags and set them on the coffee table. He opened one and made a face before he slid it over in front of us. Rayleen came over and opened it. Their pizza has seaweed and anchovies on it. It doesn't smell appealing at all. In fact, it smells horrible but who am I to judge right? "Listen, I'm really sorry about what I said. I didn't mean to offend you. Believe me, that is the last thing I ever want to do," "It's okay. I shouldn't have reacted that way. It's not your fault," she shrugged taking a bite out of her Pizza I reached for my meat lovers deep dish pizza, some wings, and cheesy bread. She looked my plate over the same way I had looked at hers. "How can you eat that?" she asked as I took a bite of the pork and beef goodness. "How can you eat that?" I asked pointing at her Pizza. "This is the best pizza ever. Try it," she said holding her pizza up to my face. "Only if you try mine," I countered quickly offering an ultimatum. "What if I have a heart attack?" she chuckled. "I will probably simply die from the smell coming off of that," I shot back. "What do you mean? it smells delicious," she argued. "No, baby this smells delicious," I countered pointing at my slice of pizza. "No, it doesn't but I'll taste it. Big bite on three," I nodded. "One... two... three... go," We both took a hearty bite of each other's pizza. She wasn't wrong it is pretty good despite the smell of it. "I like it," I admitted she laughed. "Trade you a piece," I agreed and we exchanged a slice of our pizzas. Once we were done eating, I leaned back finally paying attention to the screen. We were now watching the remake of Evil Dead. It's on the part where the black evil thing r***s that druggy girl in the woods. Rayna covered her mouth and leaned back towards me like she couldn't believe that had just happened. I took the opportunity to wrap my arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer. I could feel the muscle she has through her fitted t-shirt. She leaned into me and with each death, she'd back into me more. Somewhere in the middle of the movie she ended up on my lap with her arms wrapped around my neck looking intensely at the TV. I didn't mind one bit. A part of me still can't believe who it is I'm holding in our arms. This is my mate. My wolf loves how close she is. Her mouthwatering scent is driving both of us insane. I had to fight the fucker back every time she gave me a little squeeze. Jace glanced back at me once and smirked returning to watch the movie. Rayleen looked back at us several times and smiled. I swear whenever she looked back her eyes glowed an intense hot pink. It couldn't be the reflection from the TV because we were behind her and there aren't any lights on behind us or any windows for that matter. There's something about these girls I can't quite explain what but I have to find out. I have to know what I'm getting myself and my pack into.
