Kennedy fought to hide her suspicions. Winding through the building, they never met another soul, human or otherwise. This structure she suspected housed the Authority. They moved inside a three-story windowless place she’d studied often, but always from a distance. How many secret levels lay hidden under the ground was anyone’s guess. Magic allowed the government to excavate vast amounts of earth to hide their secrets, places to plot out of questioning sight. In theory, there might be magically created bases all over the world, and most norms would never know.
