Chapter 3: Living on the streets, eating mostly fast food and crap out of vending machines took a toll on Kennedy’s changing body. She was never a health freak like Trinity. The words, my body is a temple, never slipped past her lips, but the last ten days of accumulated abuse and lack of sleep proved too much. No longer living in the body of a twelve-year-old girl, the homeless lifestyle finally caught up with her. Her head went all kinds of woozy, and her knees buckled under her weight. Alleye caught Kennedy before she hit the floor. “Take her to her room… I’m too hyper to sleep. I’m going to start cleaning.” Dani pointed to Kennedy’s door. Kennedy tried to object, but the words wouldn’t come from her mouth like they should. Her tongue felt thick, like peanut butter filled her mouth.
