Reunion?

Wow! You are such a genius!" Okenna exclaimed, praising his wife for her wisdom. He could not help but be thankful that he had involved his wife in his plans. What would he have done without the timely suggestions of his beautiful wife? Okenna thought with a smile. " We will do as you have said. I will go to my brother and pretend that everything is fine between us. Then I will present the necklace to his baby once she is born." " At least with our good relationship, they won't suspect a thing," Okenna explained his plans to his wife with a smile. " You are right nkem (my own). I would like to see the look on their faces when you take the throne. Unfortunately, you would have already killed them then." Oluchi said with a sad smile. She had really wanted to see Ebubechi's face when she would be crowned the Lolo(queen) of Umueze. But she would not be able to do that as she knew that her husband was going to kill the whole family once his plans succeeded. " You don't have to be sad about that. After all, you will still be the Lolo(queen) without them witnessing the whole process." Okenna said while patting her back. Oluchi smiled wholeheartedly. Her husband was really a loving man. No matter what his ambition was, he sure knew how to be romantic. Oluchi thought with a smile. Okenna was happy that he could make his wife happy. " Nkem( my own), I will be going to see my brother now. There's no time to waste. Every second counts till we achieve our ambition." Okenna told Oluchi as he made his way out of the house. " Okay dear ijeoma( go well), oh," Oluchi said with a smile. In just a little while, she would be the Lolo(queen) of Umueze. All the women would be under her. She would deal with all those that were looking down on her. Oluchi thought with a smirk. " I'm so excited that the gods of the land have finally answered our prayers. In no time, you will put to birth." King Chibuike said with a smile. Queen Ebubechi smiled. Indeed the gods have answered their prayers. She could recall the five years of trauma and agony she had passed through like yesterday. Many had called her barren, others had called her a witch who had eaten all her children in the witchcraft coven. The elders of Umueze land had even advised her husband, King Chibuike to take another wife so that he could have an heir to the throne. But King Chibuike had vehemently refused to do what they had suggested. She would forever be grateful to her husband for standing by her all those times. He was really a good husband. Recalling all that she had gone through, Ebubechi did not know when she started sobbing. " Nkem (my own), why are you crying?" King Chibuike asked in concern as he used the back of his hand to wipe off tears. " I'm..not...crying. I.... just...remembered what.....I went through.....during....those ......years.....of....waiting." Queen Ebubechi said amidst tears. " Nkem (my own), you don't need to shed tears. The gods have answered our prayers and have also vindicated you from all those accusations." King Chibuike said trying to comfort his wife. Queen Ebubechi smiled. Indeed her husband was right. The gods had vindicated her from all accusations. " Wow! Now she smiles." King Chibuike teased his wife, Ebubechi while tickling her at the same time. This had her laughing hard, almost falling off the bed. But their romantic moment was cut short as a guard knocked on the king's chambers. " Come in." King Chibuike said gruffly. The guard came in immediately. " Good afternoon my king, my queen." The guard greeted with a bow. King Chibuike just nodded to his greeting. " Why are you here?" King Chibuike asked impatiently. He could not wait to go back to his little moment with his wife. Having to rule over a vast land like Umueze, gave him little time to spend with his wife. So he cherished every moment they got to spend together knowing his busy schedule. " Your majesty, Prince Okenna is here to see you." The guard said with a bow. " Okay. Tell him I will see him in a jiffy." King Chibuike said gruffly. " Okay, my king." The guard bowed and left the king's chambers immediately. " Just go ahead and see him, you know it's been a while since you last saw him." Queen Ebubechi said, urging her husband to go and see his brother. " If you want me to go and see him, then you will have to accompany me." King Chibuike said trying to persuade his wife to go with him. Queen Ebubechi sighed defeatedly. This husband of hers was something else. She thought to herself. " Fine. Let's get going already before I change my mind." Queen Ebubechi said with a smile. King Chibuike held Queen Ebubechi by her waist as they gently made their way to the throne room where Okenna was patiently waiting. " Greetings my king." Okenna greeted cheerfully even though the words felt like pins on his lips. " Please don't call me that. You are the only family I have apart from my wife. Be free with me." King Chibuike said while Queen Ebubechi nodded in agreement. " Okay then. I'm sorry for not coming to visit you like before. You know my wife and children practically chain me whenever they see me as I'm mostly not around." Okenna explained with a smile. His cheeks were hurting from all the forced smiles he had been doing since his brother walked in with his wife. " Wow! Praise be to the gods for blessing your wife. Soon we will gather here to celebrate the birth of your heir." Okenna said excitedly pretending to just find out about the pregnancy of queen Ebubechi. " Ise(amen)." King Chibuike and his wife chorused. " What can we get for you?" King Chibuike asked happily. He was happy to have his brother back. " Don't bother about that. I'm not a stranger here. If I needed something, I would have asked the maids to serve me." Okenna said with a smile. Hope his cheeks would not be swollen from too much smiling by the time he would get home. Okenna thought to himself.
