Chapter 8 Don't Betray Me in the Future

"Tina, what's wrong?" Arthur asked tenderly with a worried face. Tina said with her beautiful eyes full of doubts, "Arthur, you lost your temper and broke up with me yesterday, but now you are acting gently as if you were caring for me very much. Why did you change your mind and believe me after just one night?" A hint of fluster flashed across Arthur's heart, and then he pretended to be sad and sighed, "To be honest, it is hard for me to believe you have nothing to do with that man, and I don't think you believe the reason I told you for Jessica's appearance in the hotel. But we have dated for so many years, so we should give each other a chance no matter what. Tina, shouldn't we trust each other a little more?" He sounded sincere and well-founded, so Tina's doubts were dispelled a lot. She indeed didn't believe Jessica had gone to the hotel to lead the way for him, but the problem would never be solved if they were stuck in a stalemate like this. So, she decided to take a step back like him! She looked at the road ahead and asked softly, "Where are we going?" He felt a little impatient but still said softly, "A hotel. I need to get an order. Aren't journalists all very good at dealing with public relations? Can you accompany me there and do me a favor?" Tina frowned slightly, "Not every journalist is good at such things. You know I don't like socializing." "Please do me a favor this time. If the contract is successfully signed, I will find a way to help you get the house back!" "Really?" Her eyes lit up when she heard his words, and hope slowly began to rise in her discouraged heart. He gave her a gentle smile and patted the back of her hand, saying, "Of course, it's real. It will be hard for you to get the house back by yourself. But if I help you, twice as much can be accomplished with half the effort!" Tina knew he was telling the truth. She was weak, but the three people of the Lynds were cunning. If Arthur was willing to help her with the power of the Knights, her chance of success would become much higher. So, she nodded, "Okay, I will do my best to help you. If you succeed, can you grant me another request?" He said, "Go ahead." Tina felt upset and said with a frown, "You know Jonah is the most important person for me in that family, but they are always controlling him. Even his ID card is in their hands, and they like to threaten me with him. Both he and I can't live like this anymore... So, if I help you get the order, can you find a way to send Jonah abroad or somewhere far from here?" F*ck! This was troublesome! Arthur complained in his heart, "If my client hadn't told me he wanted to sleep with her, I would not have done such a troublesome thing." He held back the annoyance in his heart and smiled slightly, "No problem! Your business is my business. You can rest assured." Then, he slammed on the accelerator, and soon, they arrived at the hotel. Arthur walked in the front and led her up to the third floor. The private room had long been booked, and they could hear the lively noise before they walked in. When they pushed the door open, everyone inside turned to look at them. There were four people in the room. And the person sitting in the middle was a lean, bald middle-aged man. Although his eyes were small, they were flashing with shrewdness. He seemed to have the highest status because the other three people were surrounding and flattering him. On the way, Arthur had told her about the general situation. The bald middle-aged man was Mr. Reid of the Kingshill Group Real Estate, which belonged to the Langford Group. The Langford Group was the largest monopoly group in Westsville, and its business map covered almost every field. It was the most powerful enterprise in Bradon, the capital of Westsville, and the president of the Langford Group was like a king here. The Kingshill Group was backed by the Langford Group, so it had a lot of money. This time, it was a tender of an amusement park that several companies were competing for. Arthur had made a lot of efforts to invite Mr. Reid for a meal, but the latter was very shrew and asked all the bidders over, intending to watch them fight at the meal table. Whoever could make him happy would win the chance. "Mr. Knight, why are you so late? The beautiful lady next to you must be Miss Lynd, right?" Mr. Reid's eyes were glued to Tina's body, thinking she was indeed a stunner who deserved the huge price he was going to pay. Arthur couldn't be clearer about his dirty thoughts. He had dated Tina for eight years without dumping her because she was very pretty. She could be said to be one of the most beautiful women in Bradon. She was like a precious pet, and others would always envy him when he took her to social gatherings. "Mr. Reid, thank you for your compliment. Tina, hurry and clink your glass with Mr. Reid's!" Tina felt a little awkward, but she still raised her red wine glass, walked toward Mr. Reid with a gracious smile, and said, "Mr. Reid, Arthur often mentions you to me. He says you are open-minded and wise. I'm glad to meet you today. Cheers!" Mr. Reid immediately came over and took the opportunity to touch her hand when she handed over her glass. It was soft and smooth, so he felt very comfortable. "Tina is as clear as a piece of jade and looks lovable. Mr. Knight, you're a lucky man!" he said and glanced at Arthur with an envious look. Arthur smiled, "Mr. Reid, you're also lucky. Tina, sit next to Mr. Reid. He has experienced a lot, so you can ask him if you have any doubts about business or life." Tina gritted her teeth secretly. But for the sake of her house and Jonah, she decided to endure it for the time being. Anyway, she had already come here. To fight a quick battle to force a quick decision, she kept asking Mr. Reid to drink after she sat down. The other three bidders were also fighting fiercely, unwilling to give up. But women had a born advantage on such occasions, so Tina had the upper hand. After drinking for a while, Mr. Reid was a little dazzled. He kept touching her hand and calling her sweetheart, so she felt extremely embarrassed. But she could only endure nausea and dizziness and allow him to take liberties with her while trying to coax him into signing the contract, but Mr. Reid was shrewd. Although he seemed drunk, he did not agree to sign. Tina couldn't hold it on anymore. Her head hurt, her body was burning, and her stomach was churning, so she glanced at Arthur to ask for help. Fortunately, he took her hint, stood up, walked to Mr. Reid with his glass, and whispered something. After they burst into laughter happily together, Mr. Reid signed the contract without hesitation. Tina breathed a sigh of relief because her task was finally completed, and then, she excused herself to go to the lavatory. She was actually a light drinker and had felt very uncomfortable for a long time when forcing herself to drink. As soon as she stumbled into the lavatory, she couldn't help vomiting, feeling very bad as if she were dying! Looking at herself in the mirror for a while, she hurriedly lowered her head and washed her face to sober herself up because she felt hot and dizzy. When she wiped her hands and turned around, Mr. Reid suddenly appeared in front of her, so she asked in shock, "Mr. Reid, why are you here? This is a women's lavatory." Mr. Reid grabbed her hand and smiled, "I'm here to take you home. I won't let you down tonight." Then, he pouted his mouth to kiss her. Tina was disgusted by the sour smell of alcohol from his mouth, so she gritted her teeth and pushed him away, saying, "Mr. Reid, you are drunk. I still have something to do, so I can't accompany you to have the meal anymore. Bye." Then, she intended to run away. Seeing this, Mr. Reid frowned, grabbed her hand tightly, and said with a fierce look, "Are you playing hard to get with me? Didn't Arthur tell you he had given you to me tonight?"
