Six Months Since The Divorce

971 Words
Sophia This morning, I woke up tired from working late into the night. However, I feel fortunate that I don't have to start work until later today, which should give me time to rest and recharge before diving into another busy workday. I decided to get out of bed and start my usual morning routine to help me wake up. I went to the bathroom, washed my face with cold water, brushed my teeth, and combed my hair. After that, I headed to the kitchen to make myself a cup of tea and some breakfast to fuel my day. Since it was Thursday, I knew Tina would be home, so I made extra food for her. As I stood near the stove, carefully monitoring the eggs as they sizzled in the pan, I heard a soft creaking sound from the direction of the front door. I turned my head towards the sound and saw my friend Tina step into the room, her face beaming with a bright smile. "Good morning, Sophia," she chirped, "How are you feeling today?" Her warm greeting filled me with comfort and happiness, and I couldn't help but smile back at her. "Good morning to you as well, and I feel a little tired but overall fine; I was under the impression that you were in your room," I questioned her. Tina's wide grin hinted at what she was about to say next. "I had an intense workout session with that charming trainer I got introduced to last month," she replied, her eyes sparkling excitedly. I could sense the satisfaction in her tone as she recounted the details of the late-night workout routine. However, I didn't want to know the details of her s****l activities. As I finished the last bits of food, Tina walked into the kitchen and sat at the table. I dished out some food for both of us, and we started chatting about our plans for the upcoming weekend. Tina, as always, was eager to hit the club and dance the night away, and she tried to convince me to join her. We discussed the venue, the music, and the potential crowd, weighing the pros and cons of going out and having a good time. I still wasn't planning to attend the club Friday night, as I knew it would be packed with people gyrating against each other, their sweat-drenched bodies rubbing up against mine. It's not exactly my idea of an enjoyable time. I've never been one for the party scene, preferring to spend my evenings in the company of a good book or watching a movie. Tina's voice rang out loudly as I picked up our dishes to wash them. "One day," she exclaimed passionately, "you will come with me, and we'll embark on a journey to find the man of your dreams." Her words lingered in the air as I stood there, suds from the dish soap still on my hands, contemplating the possibility of such an adventure. I completed my shower and thoroughly washed my hair, all the while lost in thought, pondering over what Tina had said to me earlier. As I contemplated her words, I realized that I'm not quite ready for a relationship or any romantic entanglement, and that's okay. For now, I plan to focus on other aspects of my life and personal growth. After my shower, I reached for my towel and dried myself off. Once I was dry, I looked for something presentable to wear for the day. However, while rifling through my wardrobe, I heard my phone ringing. Upon checking, I noticed that the call was from an unknown number. Curious, I answered the call only for the person on the other end to hang up without saying a word. Lately, I have been receiving phone calls that seem suspicious. These calls have been coming in for the past few weeks, and I am getting concerned. I am not sure if they are genuine or just a scam. It would be helpful if I could figure out what is going on. I haven't told anyone about the mysterious calls, only because the person never answers or hangs up. Maybe it's nothing. Anyway, I knew I had to prepare for work, but I also had a burning desire to go job hunting. I had several hours before my shift started, and this was a perfect time engaging to job hunt. There were several corporate offices in the area that were currently hiring, and I didn't want to miss out on any opportunities. I prepared for the day, making sure to dress in business attire and grab a few copies of my resume. As I exited my bedroom, I noticed that Tina, my roommate, was lounging on our couch with her laptop open. Tina works in real estate, which allows her to create her work schedule and work remotely whenever she wants. It's always impressive to see how she manages to balance her work and personal life so seamlessly. Tina inquired, "Are you off to work so early?" I replied, "No, I'm not going to work yet. I plan to go job hunting and submit my resumes to some companies today before starting my shift at the restaurant." During my conversation with Tima, she wished me good luck with job hunting. However, she also acknowledged that I take deep breaths because I might have a stressful work shift. I am hoping that one of the companies I have applied to will give me a chance to work with them. I find my current job at the restaurant to be quite annoying and exhausting. As I headed out the door, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. Who knows? Maybe today would be the day I finally landed my dream job.
