Frazier took Val and me back to his house and called my parents, reassuring them of my location. As we sat in the living room with aunt Marissa, I heard him on the phone. The whole town heard him.
“No, nothing will happen. Yes, we are aware. I’m offended you’d assume such a thing. That was one time, and yes, I returned the horse. Oh, come on. You can trust me. Please don’t listen to Ryan and Jordan. They’re old. Everything will be fine. Yes, I swear. Tell Ryan to be quiet. No one cares about his opinion. Bye now.”
Marissa smiled at us as we sat. Yeah, I kept quiet.
