CHAPTER 3 – Mate, the one whom I never wanted to meet

Axel’s POV

When Spike whispered the word mate, my breath got hitched for a second. I thought that I am not paired with a mate. I was happy about that, but Spike was always desperate for a mate. He hates me and cursed me when I was sleeping with other s***s. He went crazy when he sniffed the scent of the mate. Within a second I also felt her scent. She smells like fresh peaches. I closed my eyes to smell her scent and experience it. I feel that I am dragging myself towards the scent. It was not only me but also my Beta and Gamma were also mateless. We never spoke about our mates, it was not our subject. We were focused on illegal activities and rule the mafia world.

“She is here, we have to be quick” Spike mind linked me. usually, wolves find their mate in their first shift. Male wolf shift in their 18th birthday and females in 21st birthday. Alpha’s story is different. We find out a mate on the 15th birthday when we shift for the first time.

“We are not here for a mate, we are here for a work Spike. Concentrate for that for f**k sake” I reminded him of the job.

“Forget it, I feel that she is in danger. She needs us” Spike spoke this time bit toughly.

“I told you that we don’t want any mate, mate weakens us and you know that mate is the one whom I never wanted to meet” I spat the venom to Spike.

I started to hear the announcing sounds from inside of the building.

“You are a pathetic soul Axel, you don’t know the value of having a mate. We need our mate to heal our soul, heal our wounds from the past. We both know that we have Alpha blood and rather than running a pack, we are doing underworld jobs” Spike started to run towards the main hall door.

The guards started to fire on us, but Spike is a speed than a bullet. He jumped onto the guards and pull their throat. With the bloody attack of Spike other wolves also started the show with blood. With one hard push, he broke the door of the hall.

“There she is, on the stage. M**********s, I will not spare them if they lay a single finger to her body” Spike growled with an ear-piercing roar to shake the main hall walls.

The people inside of it started to run here and there to find an exit.

“Where are you running Spike? We have to find the gang members and finish them” I ask when I saw Spike is running towards the stage.

“About the members, others will take care, but who will take care of our mate? She needs us, she is there” he ran to the stage and growled for the men who were pulling her from stage to its back. All the men ran from there when they see the huge monster in front of them.

“Your f****s, get the f**k out of here” he roared and jump to our mate. She fell unconsciously on the stage.

“Axel, I can’t take her to my arms in her human form. I will shift back to you and you take care of her” Spike said.

“I am not gonna take care of any f***g mate for f**k sake Spike” I stubbornly said.

“Fine, if you are not taking care of our mate, I will leave you forever. You know that you are nothing without me. Your name in the underworld will vanish soon” this time Spike threatens me.

I thought for a moment. He is correct, if he is quiet for a lifetime I will be nothing. I don’t have any option other than to agree with him.

“Fine, you won. I will take her. Give me back my human form you stubborn wolf” I cursed him. With a winning smile, he gave me the control back.

I am naked now. I quickly tore a piece of curtain and wrapped it around my torso.

I looked at the fragile body that is laying on the stage. I felt like my surroundings have suddenly gone muted and I can only hear her weaken heartbeat. I kneeled in front of her. I feel that my heartbeat started to rise a bit faster. I forwarded my palm to touch her pale cheeks, but again I pulled my hand back. I know that once I touch her, I won’t be able to resist her touch.

“Hurry up, what are you thinking? We need to leave this place quickly” Spike starts to put pressure on me. I don't have any option. I forwarded my shaking arms towards her. I feel that my heart beats raised and blood pressure is increasing. I gently put my arms under her back and knees and lift her to my arms.

As soon our bare skins touched sparks started to shoot all over my body. I saw that she is also shaking because of the sparks.

“Do you feel it? Do you feel how good when she is in our arms? Do you feel that she is the only one who can heal our wounded soul Axel?”

Today I saw a new side of Spark that I’ve never seen before. I heard that mate completes us, I’ve never seen how wolves go crazy when they found their mate, but I feel that this is the passion we are drawing towards our mate. My heart stops for a moment when I see her in my arms. To this day I have only done bloodshed. I thought my soul need to taste the blood of the people and it will heal me, but the moment I hold her in my arms I feel that she is my medicine, she is my only ambition in my life to live, she is the only single person who can wakeup my humanity and heal my deeply wounded soul.

But, wait, I can’t do this. I have to let her go. My world is filled with cruelty and bloodshed, killing is the only motive we have. If she stays, I will be weakened.

“Alpha, who is she? We need to leave from here. We save all the girls and police will be here soon” Noah came to me in his human form.

“She…she is….”

“Come on, say it that she is our Luna. She needs to be respected” Spike growled to me.

“None of your business Noah, should I answer your every question? Hurry up, we are leaving from here” I cuddle her to my chest and lead the way. Noah was looking at me with a questioning look on his face. I have never ignored his question, but today I don’t have an answer for him.

We got into our vehicles and I see all the other wolves are covered with blood. We carry a separate set of clothes to wear on occasions like this. Three vehicles left the place. The whole place has turned into a battlefield and Noah make sure to put the fire to the place so that our evidence will be erased forever. We made sure that no one leave the place alive other than us.

“Alpha, who is she? Why are you taking her with us? Do you know her? She looks like a piece of s**t”

“Do not talk to her like that, you have no right to speak to her like that” as soon as the words spill from Noah’s mouth I roared in the vehicle. He was driving the vehicle while I was in the back seat with my mate. He couldn’t control the vehicle because of my sudden roar. He hit the break luckily we didn’t hit on anything, just the vehicle jump out from the road.

“A…Alpha, I didn’t mean it. I am sorry, I will not speak to her like that” he pulled the gear and accelerate the vehicle back to the road.

“Where are we going Alpha?” Noah asked.

“Let’s go to my mansion in Manhatten,” I said looking out from the window.

Uncertainty has taken over my mind. I keep her with me as my mate and my Luna her life will be in danger. This will be a good point for my enemies to make me weak. I rule the black scorpion after our godfather. His only advice was that women are our strengths and weakness in our life. He became the underworld king after losing his only love in his life.

I am in a junction that I can’t decide where should I go. If I reject her Spike will be quiet forever and if I keep her she will be my weakness and my life again will be tough. I don’t want to spend the time like when I was running for my life previously.

What should I do? Keep her or let her go?
