Two years later
Mia's POV
''Should I tell the driver to get ready.'' mom asked, but I shook my head in disapproval. ''I'm going with Rick, after all, we attend the same school.'' I mumbled, ''But he is attending a University while you are still in high school, do you think he has a class today.'' Mom asked and just when I was about to speak I saw Rick coming downstairs dressed in a gray tight jean and white hoodies.
''Good morning bro.'' I greeted him and made my way to him while mom hurried to the dining table. For the past two years, she has been avoiding Rick. She doesn't talk to him much because of his attitude towards her. I mean us.
''Are you going to school?'' I asked but got no response from him. Ignoring me, he walked past me and went straight to the dining table, where dad and mom were already seated waiting for us.
Rick took the seat at the other edge of the table opposite dad, while I took the seat opposite mom.
''Good morning, dad.'' I greeted. ''Morning Mia.'' Dad responded with a smile, which I returned. I placed an empty plate in front of me and moved my gaze to Rick, who had been quiet.
''Son?'' Dad called out to Rick, but did not get a response from him. ''Are you okay?'' He asked, but got an angry groan from Rick. ''Please let him be.'' Mom suggested, while dad sighed heavily and took a spoon of his food.
We all ate in silence until I noticed Rick getting up after a few spoons of food. ''Are you leaving?'' I asked, also getting on my feet, but he did not give me a response. ''I'd like to join you…'' I tried speaking, but he cut me off. ''Never!, I'm not your driver.'' He spoke in a serious tone and was about to leave when dad's voice stopped him.
''Ricardo!'' Dad called in a commanding manner. Groaning irritated, he moved his gaze and fixed it on dad. ''I'm not taking her.'' He argued, with so much hate for me in his voice. ''You are taking your sister and that's final!'' Dad ordered, ''She is not my sister!'' He yelled while fixing his gaze on me. ''I don't have a sister.'' He said with a serious tone.
His words tore my heart into pieces, but I hid my emotion. ''Don't say that, Rick…'' Mom tried speaking, but he cut her off, ''I was not talking to you Stephanie, please stay out of this.'' He yelled and was about walking away when dad angrily slammed the dining table and stood to his feet. ''Mind your words.'' Dad warned fiercely, but Rick wasn't bothered about it.
Angrily he glared at dad, moved his direction to mom before settling his gaze on me. ''Damn all of you!'' He growled and walked away. ''Bye mom, bye dad.'' I murmured and ran after him.
Hurriedly, I pursued him out of the house and followed him to the garage. ''Stop following me.'' He yelled, Still walking away. ''I just want you to take me to school.'' I pleaded and got an angry groan from him, but he didn't object to it.
We got to where his car was parked, he opened it and got in, while I quickly opened the door and sat in the front seat beside him.
Angrily, he released a heavy sigh and put on his seat belt while I did the same. After steaming the car, he groaned and drove out of the garage.
The moment he drove out of the compound, he speeded off and focused his gaze on the road. With panic, I stared at him, but he ignored me and increased the speed of the car, which made my heart thump with fear.
''Can you slow down a bit?'' I asked in fear, but he ignored me and increased the speed of the car. With panting breath, I closed my eyes and mumbled a panic prayer to the moon goddess, hoping she would hear me. ''Get out of the way!'' Rick yelled while blowing his horn. With fear, I tightened my eyes while I tried to control my panting breath until the car came to a halt. ''Get out!'' He grumbled, irritated.
Slowly, I opened my eyes and stared at Rick with terrified eyes, while he groaned and looked away. ''Get out.'' He announced again and this time I opened the door of the car and went out.
The moment I closed the door, he zoomed off at a very high speed, which made me wonder why he was acting this way.
Sighing heavily, I made my way to my school building. I got to my locker, opened it and took out a few books.'' Hey Mia, you are early today.'' I heard Rachel's voice behind me. ''Was that Rick dropping you off?'' Sarah asked, while I just nodded my head, closed my locker and turned in their direction.
''You guys talk now?'' Rachael asked, while I just shook my head. ''Too bad!'' She murmured while I flashed her a weak smile, and we made our way to the class. ''Janet is damn lucky.'' Sarah spoke up, ''And why would you say that?'' Rachael asked. ''Can't you see she is dating Ricardo, the soon-to-be alpha.''? Sarah groaned with a frown. ''I just wish it was me and not her.'' Sarah grumbled while Rachael and I scoffed at her words. ''Stop dreaming girl, you are just fourteen and Ricardo is twenty years old, definitely we are not his class.'' Rachael mocked while Sarah shrugged her shoulders and said, ''Well, anything is possible and beside Janet is not his mate. He is just using her to pass away time, everyone is aware of that.'' Sarah said, while we both scoffed at her words but didn't say a word.
Sarah went on and continued blabbering about Ricardo and Janet's relationship, which I did not take interest in because, to me, I have better things to talk about than gossiping about my brother's relationship.
We entered our first class, sat in our separate seats and waited for the class to begin.
A few minutes later, the class ended, and we made our way to the next class until our classes were over for the day.
''Are you going home?'' I asked Sarah and Rachael, but they both shook their heads. ''We have a dance class, will you join us.''? They invited me, but I refused. ''I'll just go back home, see you later.'' we said our goodbyes and departed.
The moment I left their sight, I opened my backpack and took out a timetable sheet which wasn't mine but belonged to Ricardo.
When I first noticed he was avoiding me and never wanted anything to do with me, I came up with a plan to spend as much time as I could with him. I found out the course he was studying, went to his school website and downloaded his timetable. In that way, I would know when he is through with lectures and go to him, asking him to take me home, since a wall divided our schools.
I scanned through the timetable and realized his last class ended an hour ago, which meant I was really late. ''s**t!'' I blurted out and hastened my footsteps.
Within few minutes, I was inside the campus searching around, hoping to see Rick around, but they were no trace of him. Curiously, I went to his favorite packing space and was relieved when I saw his red Honda Accord still parked there.
''He is still in school.'' I exhaled in relief and continued searching around, but still couldn't find him. When I got tired of looking for him, I decided to wait for him by his car, but luckily, I bumped into a friend of his, on my way. ''Mia, what are you doing here?'' He asked. ''Good afternoon, I'm looking for Rick.'' I responded. ''Oh, he is at the gym center, do you know your way there?'' He asked, ''Yeah, thanks a lot.'' I flashed him a grateful smile and made my way to the university gym center.
After walking a few steps, I climbed the stairs and arrived at the gym center. The moment I got into the big hall, I gulped nervously and wanted to go back, but a boy stopped me. ''Little girl, are you here to feed your eyes?'' He teased while I quickly shook my head but couldn't speak. ''Stop scaring her, are you looking for someone?'' Another guy asked, who I assumed, should be in his early twenties.
''Yes, yes, I'm looking for Rick.'' I mumbled in a trembling voice. ''Rick?'' The first guy asked, ''Yeah.'' I responded. ''Are you one of his bitches, oh my god you are young and still in high school…'' The first guy grumbled, but I cut him off. ''He is my brother, Rick is my brother.'' I proudly announced to everyone.
''Apologies, I never knew.'' He apologized and flickered a weak smile to me. ''He is at the weightlifting room at the other corner.'' The second guy announced, while pointing the direction to me. ''Thank you!'' I flashed him a grateful smile and walked away.
