Alpha Ricardo's POV
Hearing our name from her mouth startled us, but we composed ourselves.
''Greetings.'' I greeted her, Jayson also did the same.
''Please come in.'' She gestured and stepped aside for us both to go in.
When we entered the room, we realized it was empty, with just two-seater couches and a center table. ''Forgive me, I'm renovating my house.'' She apologized while Jayson and I stared at each other.
''Please have a seat.'' she said, gesturing for us to sit on the two-seater couch, which we did. ''Apologies, I have just water.'' she said, offering to give us some water, but we shook our heads in rejection. ''Thanks, we are okay.'' Jayson politely declined.
''Very well, then, let's get to the business of the day.'' she said as she sat on the one-seater couch in front of us. I held Jayson's gaze, and he gave me a go-ahead look, which made me suck in a deep breath and say, ''I need to know…'' ''Your mother's killer?'' She cut in.
''Yes, yes.'' I responded quickly. ''People think my mother's death was natural, but deep down I knew she was killed.'' I said with a groan. ''And you are right about it. Your mother was killed in the spiritual realm a day before her death.'' the seer announced.
Her words brought a sharp pain to my heart, but I composed myself and spoke up. ''Who is the killer?'' I asked, with panting breath. ''Calm down, Ricardo; you don't know your abilities and what they can do. I don't want you burning down my building.'' She warned in a serious tone, which got me curious. ''Burn down your building?'' I asked with raised eyebrows. ''Yeah, you have the gift of moving metals and also the gift of fire.'' She said with a half-smile. "Wow, bro, that is huge," Jayson said, quaking my shoulder, but I wasn't concerned about the recent discovery of my abilities; I just wanted to find out who killed my mother.
''Who is her killer?'' I asked while holding the gaze of the old seer, ''You mean to ask, who are her killers.'' She responded. ''Killers?'' Jayson and I spoke in unison.
''Yes, there are two, it was a teamwork.'' She said with a bitter chuckle and stood to her feet. I watched her walk up to the window and stand by it while she stared outside, lost in thought.
''I will tell you the killers, but you will have to make a promise to me.'' she said, and turned to me. ''What promise is that?'' I asked. She remained silent and went into deep thought before walking back to us. She sat back on her seat and held my gaze with a blank look on her face. ''Your friend should excuse us, what I have to share with you is something essential and personal.'' She uttered in a serious tone that had no room for argument. ''I'm not leaving my friend alone with you.'' Jayson protested. "Very well, then, you two can leave together because, as you can see, I'm a very busy person,” she said, rising to her feet, but I stopped her. ''Please sit, my friend was just leaving.'' I said and moved my attention to Jayson. ''Just wait in the car; I'll be alright.'' I pleaded. Jayson gave me a disapproving groan before standing to his feet. ''Fine, but call me if you notice anything strange.'' he urged, while I nodded my head in response.
He gave the old woman a death stare, warning her not to do anything stupid before leaving. After he shut the door behind him, I held the gaze of the seer and said, ''Now tell me who are the killers?'' She took a deep breath and shook her head with pity before speaking. ''Your father and his mistress killed your mother.'' she announced. ''What… are…?” I stammered and stood to my feet. ''This can't be true; you are lying to me!'' I yelled. ''And why should I lie about it?'' she asked, and stood to her feet. ''Your father fell out of love for your mother when you were just five years old. He fell madly in love with his mistress, who is now in your mansion with her daughter.'' She responded with no atom of mischief in her Words. ''His mistress threatened to leave him and run away with her child if he didn't marry her and make her Luna. With no other option, your father and his mistress went to a strong witch with your mother's underwear. She made a potion out of it and gave them the potion to put in your mother's drink. Successfully, your father carried out the plan, and your mother fell sick after taking a drink that was mixed with the potion and died a day later,” she announced, while I just stood there and stared at her with startled eyes.
''You are lying to me!'' I yelled in disbelief, hoping all these were some sort of silly joke. ''Really? So, you think I'm lying about it?'' she scoffed, taking a step closer to me. ''Then can you explain to me why your father had a child who you are just six years older than, and can you explain to me why your father will bring home another woman three years after your mother's death?" She asked with raised eyebrows.
Her words startled me and made my body numb. ''Control yourself, Rick.'' My wolf advised me when he realized I was about to lose control.
"'This is not possible!'' I mumbled with agony. I thought mom and dad were so much in love with each other; how is it possible that dad would kill mom.
''I will advise you to keep this information to yourself for now until you are made the alpha; only then can you do what you wish to do.'' She advised and sat back on the couch, while I just stood there, numb.
''Life is always full of mystery, just like how your step-sister, the daughter of your mother's killer, is your mate.'' She mocked me with a scoff while she shook her head.
''I'm done with you; please drop your fee on the table and leave if you don't have anything to ask about.'' She spoke nonchalantly and stood to her feet. ''You are going to make an outstanding Alpha, one that should be feared around the world, but let me give you a small piece of advice.'' She paused and took a step closer to me. She slowly leaned to my left ear and said, ''Love makes a man weak and fragile, Your mother met her untimely death because she was in love. I hope you don't fall victim to such circumstances.'' She whispered into my ear and moved away. ''See you some other time, Alpha, Ricardo.'' She slightly lowered her head and vanished out of my sight, yet I didn't move an inch.
The information I just got dumbfounded me, and I was finding it hard to believe her despite all the evidence before me.
I remembered a day my mom and dad had a heated argument, and I overheard father telling mom he regretted having her as his wife, but I thought it was just a normal couple fight; I never knew it was this serious.
''No!!!'' I yelled in pain and fell to the floor. ''You don't know how to control your abilities; I'll advise you to keep your emotions intact.'' My wolf advised. Heeding his words, I sucked in a deep breath and stood to my feet. I brought out some cash from my wallet, dropped it on the table, and made my way to the door.
When I got out of the apartment, I met a worried and curious Jayson standing beside the car with folded arms.
''Is everything okay?'' Jayson asked, but I didn't give him a response; rather, I fell on his shoulder and broke down in tears. ''Stay calm, man.'' Jayson urged while he gently tapped my back.
I inhaled deeply, moved away from him, and wiped off the tears on my cheek. ''What did she say to you?'' Jayson asked curiously, but I couldn't form words from my lips. I mean, how could I tell him that my father and his mistress were my mother's killers.
Jayson understood my silence and decided to let things be. ''Let's go back home.'' He said and opened his side of the car. Heaving a deep breath, I walked over to the driver's seat, opened the door, and got into the car.
With trembling hands, I started up the engine, but Jayson stopped me. ''Get down, I'm driving.'' He said and went out of the car. Left with no choice, I exchanged seats with Jayson before he drove off.
Few minutes into the drive, my wolf spoke: ''What will you do now?'' He asked, while I just sighed heavily and closed my eyes. I rested my head on the window and went into deep thought. I could see the smile on the face of his mistress when he was introducing her to me. I recalled the proud look on her face when I saw her on the dining table, seated on her mother's seat. Getting Mother out of the way without anyone knowing was a dream come true for both of them. Her dream of becoming the Luna of one of the biggest parts of California has come true, and for dad, he will be super happy, seeing that he is now with the love of his life.
''Never!'' I whispered to myself and opened my eyes, “Congratulations, Dad; you just made a beast out of me.''
