Chapter 7

"Shh-stop crying" Yves is caressing Samara's back tryna' calm her down. Simula nang dalhin nila si Annie sa hospital ay hindi na tumigil kakaiyak at kasisisi si Samara sa sarili niya.

"It's my...it's my fault, it's all my fault Jean!" Samara cried out. She's been sobbing that her eyes looks swollen already. "Samara, how many times do I have to tell you that it wasn't your fault. You didn't know her allergy." Yves explained.

Yves told her for the nth time that she was clueless about the allergy which made it worse for her, and she even felt more bad about it, "But still, I should've asked her." Samara sobbed.

Yves rolled his eyes, "Then why didn't you ask her?" he asked trying to make a point, "Because I don't think pineapples can be an allergic food, if it's peanut then I would've asked her!?" Samara pointed out.

"Exactly!" Yves said almost raising his voice. Samara opened her mouth but she couldn't say any word. She looked down, and after some time, the doctor came in the room holding a clipboard. It was doctor Aixza.

"How's she doc?" Samara asked worriedly. "Well, your friend suffered from mild anaphylactic shock. She'll be fine, I already gave her epinephrine." Doc Aixza said.

"It's a great news that her rashes isn't that too, however her throat is swollen. It's not that bad either but she needs to drink hot water to atleast ease the itch." the doctor added and smiled.

The two gave her a smile and thanked her before she left. Napabuntong hininga nalang si Samara at tumingin kay Annie na nakatulog na ngayon. "I'm sorry Annie." she said, and Yves heaved a sigh.

"Stop apologizing, she's asleep." Yves complained but Samara just glared at him.

Samara stared at Annie, she looks really tired, and pale but she still looks beautiful, and staring at her peaceful face makes her realize that the lady isn't really that bad.

Samara sighed, "Are you close with her? Can you tell me about her?" she suddenly asked Yves. The guy was stunned but he managed to keep his cool and looked at Annie.

After a moment of silence, Yves started talking. "She was five when they lost her twin sister," he started. Samara was out of words, she tried talking but nothing came out.

"They spent years looking for Yzally, that's her twin's name. She was always eager to find Yzally, because she blame herself for what happened." Yves added.

Samara's forehead twitched, she faced Yves and asked him, "Why?" she asked. Yves looked at her and smiled.

"According to her, she tried teaching her sister to swim on the beach because her sister was always afraid of waters, but instead they ended up searching for rocks and shells that she didn't even notice her sister have gone too far."

Samara looked down. She couldn't believe something like that happened to their student council secretary. Bigla niyang naalala ang kinuwento sa kanya ni Annie tungkol sa pag ampon ng daddy niya ng ibang bata.

At first, she didn't understand why Annie would be that so mad of the idea that her parents adopted someone, but now after hearing the story, she understood Annie's feelings.

"She was so mad to herself, and even more mad to her parents, ni hindi pa nga nila alam kung patay na ba o buhay pa si Yzally pero umampon sila kaagad ng ibang bata." dagdag pa ni Yves na tinanguan lang ni Samara.

They fell into silence again, but after some time, she spoke breaking the defeaning silence between her and Yves.

"Hindi ka ba babalik ng school? I can watch Annie here until she wakes up." Samara said but Yves chuckled. "Are you staying here with her because you're guilty?" he mocked. Samara glared at him.

"Can you drop that already? I'm staying with her because I'm worried!" she defended. Yves laughed and raised his hands on the air. "Yeah I know, I was just teasing you." He mocked.

Samara just rolled her eyes at him, making him laugh more. Minutes have passed, and she heard someone snoring, she turn around only to see Yves sleeping already. "Seriously?" she asked herself and rolled her eyes.

Dala siguro ng ka-boringan niya, kumuha siya ng maliit na towel at nagpainit ng tubig para punasan si Annie.

While she's wiping Annie, she heard her groan. "Annie, can you hear me?" she asked immediately, as Annie slightly opens her eyes. When she saw Annie's open eyes she smiled.

"How are you?" she asked. Annie looked at her and smile. "You're here." Annie said to her, almost whispering. Samara nodded and fixed the bed so Annie could sit.

Napansin ni Annie ang hawak na towel ni Samara at ang maliit na basin sa tabi niya. Annie smiled wider, "Were you wiping me?" she asked and Samara nodded with a smile.

"Sweet, but..." Annie stop talking and looked down. She seemed sad and doubtful so Samara had to ask her what's wrong. Annie looked at her with questioning eyes.

"Are you feeling...guilty about what happened?" she then asked Samara. The latter was surprised with the question, she wasn't expecting that but still she nodded.

"It was my fault, I'm so sorry." She apologized. Annie sighed, "If it wasn't your fault, would you still do all this?" Annie asked  and Samara couldn't say anything.

She was so shocked by the question and at the same time, confused, did she really came all the way with Yves to bring Annie to the hospital just because she feels sorry?

If yes, that would be partly right and wrong.

She stayed quiet for some time, so Annie lightly laughed, "Don't mind it. I must be out of my mind." Annie said and smiled to Samara.

The latter gave a smile too, and as of cue, Yves yawn, stretching his arms. Napatingin si Annie sa direksyon ni Yves at bakas ang gulat sa mukha nito.

"Y-You're here too?!" she exclaimed. She couldn't believe Yves is there too. Samara seemed confused of Annie's sudden reaction but she didn't have the chance to ask since the door suddenly opened and another two of her classmates came in together with the doctor.

Trisha and Angel quickly went to Yves giving him a death glare. "WHAT.THE.HELL.DID.YOU.DO.TO.ANNIE.AGAIN.THIS TIME?!" Angel and Trisha yell and was ready to attack the guy but doctor Aixza cooly stop the two ladies before things got worse than it already was.

"Calm down ladies." she said and walk to Annie asking how's she feeling and how's rashes and throat. Annie typically said she's fine, so the doctor didn't had to stay longer.

"Hmmm, before I leave, ladies please don't make any scene okay? I'm-" she didn't finish her words as someone slammed the door, the girl is panting and her other hand is placed on her knee.

"M...Ma, lolo's having seizures." It was Airee, she didn't notice them since she's looking down. Doctor Aixza looked at them and she said she had to go and check her uncle.

The five of them didn't say anything for a moment and even after the doctor left. They're so shocked, they didn't knew Airee was here too, thou Angel and Trisha saw her going to the same direction as they were earlier.

Ilang minuto sila nakatunganga nang bumalik sila sa reyalidad at humarap kay Yves. They were ready to attack him but Samara interfer. "Uhm, hey, Yves didn't do anything. He actually helped me bring Annie here." she said stopping the two.

"You're here?! I thought you're home with Junelee?" Trisha confusedly asked. Samara just nodded and smiled.

"It's my fault, don't blame Yves." She said that shut everybody's mouth.

Annie, Angel, Trisha, and even Yves gazed away from each other. That's strange?

Actually, Samara's really bothered to why did Angel and Trisha blamed Yves as soon as they came in, did something happened among these people?

And if yes, what could that be, why is it that these two ladies hate him, given the fact that they're actually friends?
