Samantha
Mark's eyes remind me of a random clearing in the forest that has nothing but green grass. His eyes are brighter though, and they do shine brighter than anything I have ever seen.
I lean forward and press my lips against his. His hand quickly grabs my neck and the kiss deepens. My lips move against his while his tongue dances in my mouth. He tastes of peppermint with a touch of rosé, it's his favorite, after all. The kiss is sweet and feather touch not all what I expected, though I can't quite clearly state what it is I expected from the kiss.
I pull away, “ You are the only one I like, Mark,” I whisper as I press my forehead against his. My breath comes out in short pants. I am still bewildered that Mark and I shared a kiss. I never once expected that it would happen.
“ Please help me escape this place. Can you stall the men for me, please?” I beg as I look into his green eyes.
He dips his hand in his pocket, and he takes his hand, he slides his car keys in my hand. The transition is so smooth that no one would notice what's going on between us.
The vigor bracelet tightens as if it already knows what I am planning to do.
It doesn't matter if they find me at all, what matters is that I retrieve my gadget. If it was something I could easily remake I wouldn't have been worried, but I lost the plan a while ago.
He leans closer to kiss my ear as he whispers, “ Take my truck, it will be faster for you to get there.”
I clear my throat and pull away. I believe Mark and I have a close personal relationship that sometimes we tend to communicate without words.
I look at him and then stare at the direction of the restroom. He simply nods his head in understanding. I get up and quickly leave. The bathroom is along the lobby, but I deliberately ignore that one and head for one downstairs.
I pretend to enter in one and in the bathroom I manage to trade my dress with another girl just to create a small diversion. I am out of the bathroom quicker than the speed of the light. I easily find Mark's truck as I have rod in it a few times before.
I drive off in the direction of campus and the bracelet becomes uncomfortable. I decide to ignore the pain, the same way I did that day.
I am speeding through the streets that I am surprised I don't get stopped by the traffic policeman.
I make it to campus in record time, and the bracelet hurts even more. I bite my lower lips instead as I push forward.
“ I won't stop here, I need my Besto Master key, even if it's the last thing that happens to me.”
I manage to locate my room. I check a nearby flowerpot where I always hid the spare key, and I find it. I enter the room and everything is as I left it, nothing out of place.
I rush to the spot I always hide it, I lift the carpet in the room and plank tiles off the floor. The box where I kept my stuff is intact. I take out of the hole and open it.
My heart instantly drops. I sit on the floor and check the box twice, but the result still remains the same.
Oh f**k!!!
I remove the rest of the carpet and the hole on the floor is the one I created. The rest of the planks tiles are intact.
Who could have taken my key?!
Fuck!!!
I want to scream, but I can't find my voice.
“ No, it has to be somewhere in here!” I scream.
I begin to turn over everything in the room, hoping it perhaps dropped somewhere. The room slowly begins to look like it's been ransacked. I am flipping everything and anything, checking every drawer.
I pull my hair as I hold in a scream. I feel like I will go crazy. Suddenly it feels harder to breath.
I turn everything in the room, throwing it around.
“ Please, please, please!” I beg as I search like a madman.
I am sure I left it here, and now it's gone. The bracelet keeps getting tighter and getting more uncomfortable.
I sit in the floor and massage my tempos. I need to calm down and think. I really need to think clearly about this. Where the f**k can it be? Who knew about it? It has to be the same person betraying us. It has to be someone close to me, or just anyone from campus who has been watching my movies than I have been.
Oh f**k!
This can't be happening.
I storm out of the room and ask for a phone from the first random student I see. The girl hands me her iPhone and I quickly dial my brother's number. I make sure to add distance between us as I find a secluded area to chat.
He picks it up after some time, “ Ethan it's me, Samantha,”
“ Baby sis, are you okay?”
“ I am fine, did you take my key?” I ask as I tap the back of the phone rapidly.
“ I wouldn't even know where you keep the key. I thought you kept it safe before they kidnapped you.” He says as I blink back tears.
“ Someone took it. We have a rat among us, I don't know who it is, but they keep spilling stuff about us to the wrong people. You need to take care of them before they get us in trouble.”
“ I will, baby sis, don't worry.”
“ Have you found the damn ruby? I am tired of being their hostage. They are strange men, very strange men, you wouldn't even believe me if I told you,” I tell him.
“ I haven't found it. It's like it disappeared off the face of the earth. I managed to track the person I first sold it too, and he showed me the second person after that it's like the person who bought it and the stone itself have disappeared from sight. I think I will just kidnap you from them,” He says he sounds worried, and I can't tell that isn't easy on him.
Ethan and I have this tight bond that can't easily be broken. Siblings or not.
“ You can't,” The bracelet on my arm tightens as it feel as though it's burning through my skin. “ They have out this trackable bracelet on me and no matter what I try, I can't remove it.”
“ f**k!! Then I will just reign war on them, tell me where they are keeping you,” He demands and the image of Santino’s dragon flashes in my mind.
“ No, no,” I panic, “ Don't try anything foolish, these two are dangerous men and I don't know where they are keeping me,”
Maximo is the reckless one, he wouldn't think twice before scotching my brother in front of my eyes.
“ Okay then I will think of something, for now please be on their good side. Use your charming skills on them and while you are it, I will find the key for you. Don't worry, the person who has it can't even use it.”
I hope they can't copy it too.
“ Who are you talking to?”
I scream, letting go of the phone, and it drops on the ground.
“ Oh s**t,” I bend over and quickly pick it up. It has the biggest crack on the screen and half of it isn't going on.
“ She will kill me.” I cry out. “ Maximo, you are to blame.”
I glare at him and he glares back. He is seething, I can see from the way he clenches and unclenches his fist.
“ We will pay her for the phone,” Santino replies, and he looks as cool as a cucumber.
I walk past the men and approach the girl.
“ I am so sorry, some rude men disturbed me while I was on the phone and I accidentally dropped your phone.” I plead with her.
Her eyes water, “ It's the only phone I had,”
Santino approaches her and drops five stacks of dollars in her hands.
“ Get yourself a new phone.” He tells her and her eyes light up.
“ I guess it was your lucky day,” I smile at her.
The moment I am done talking, Maximo grabs my hand and leads me along.
He grabs my hand a little too tight and no matter how hard I try to fight off his grip, I fail miserably.
“ Maximo, you are hurting me,” I whine as I pull harder.
He stops and turns to look at him. He fixes me with his reptilian eyes, and I shiver.
He laughs, “ You just couldn't wait, could you?”
“ There is something important to me that I needed to retrieve.”
“ f**k that s**t! You think I am angry about sneaking you out of the club?”
“ Then what are you angry about?”
He laughs like a maniac and finally drops my hand. “f**k this s**t, you know what, I am too sober for this shit.”
He takes out his signature cigar and walks away, leaving me behind with Santino, who stopped in his tracks to watch the drama in front of him.
“ What is his deal?” I ask Santino, who doesn't answer, only walks forward.
The brothers are complicated beings.
“ You have no idea, Samantha,” Santino finally says after walking a few steps
