Chapter 4

Sky Pov

As my walk begins I can't help but feel uneasy. It's like my stomachs are doing flips and s**t. I headed to the library and begin to organize books. My heart beats fast and my stomach is still doing knots but I pushed it off and went for a cheap coffee at the vending machine. It seems to be the magic as my tummy relaxes.

I went to my P.E. class and changed to my swimming uniform.

Our instructor only teaches us about swimming and blah blahs and ordered us to do this and that. Well you know, normal boring stuffs.

By the time we finished, it's a little over lunch so I hurried to the café. I am about to change my uniform when my phone rings. My heart beats nervously and raced like a horse. My stomach turned to knots again as I pull the phone to my ear. I breathed a shaky "hello".

"Sky? Is this you?" an old voice came. I recognized this woman's voice as Mrs. Brunswick from the first floor. I mumbled a "yes" again.

"Thank goodness, this is Mrs. Brunswick, Your kid! Kailer fell from the stairs! Were on the hospital right now. Please come immediately, the kids need you." I didn't respond as I hung up and bolted directly outside. God! Why does this have to happen? Please make Kailer safe.

I reach the hospital at bolt straight to the operating room where I find Mrs. Brunswick, Kaiser and Alexon outside.

"What happened?" I frantically asked Mrs. Brunswick. I felt hot tears making their way to my cheeks.

"Hush now darling, it'll be okay. I found the child on the foot of the stairs and his twin and the kid screaming for help." She says to comfort me. "They are still on the operating room. I'm sorry Sky, I need to go, my husband needs someone to help him in the shop. I'm really sorry"

"It's okay Ma'am. And thank you for everything. I can take it from here." I forced a small smile as she rubs my back and mumbled a "stay strong" to me while making her way out.

I sit on a chair near the kids. They look gloomy and sad. "Did you guys eat yet?" I ask and see them shook their heads. I grab some food from a nearby machine and hand it to them. They ate it slowly as I put my hand over my face. Hours later, the doctor came out. I stand abruptly and approach the doctor.

"Are you Mr. Thorns?" he asks while checking his clipboard. "Yes I am." I says and I fell Alexon tugging on my jeans.

"The patient is in a stable condition right now." I sighed in relief. "but," I take that relief back. "He fractured his femur and have a minor crack on his skull. We put him on a medically induced coma to help him recover faster. You need to buy these medicines and we'll transfer him to a ward." And with that, he left me in a miserable state.

I slump to the chair and cried. I feel small arms on my back and another set hugging me.

"Don't worry daddy, we'll get through this." Kaiser says. "I'm helping pay bills daddy. I'll skip lunch and dinner for Kailer." Alexon offered.

I let out a small chuckle and wiped my tears and picked Alexon. "Come on boys, let's get you home."

I left them home. Again. But now I made sure that they don't need to go out. I came back to the hospital and the nurses came bugging me with more medicine and bills to be paid. I head to the rooftop for a breath; I pulled my handkerchief to wipe my face when I noticed a card fall. I pick it up to find that it's Maxime's. I widened my eyes and battled internally.

I settled and came to a decision. I dialed his number. After a third ring, a voice says. "Hello, Its Maxime, who is this?"

"Umm. Hi Max, it's me, Sky." I quietly replied.

"Oh goody! So you've made up your mind?" he ask excitedly.

I feel my tongue freeze as I mumble " Yes, I'm up for it."
