Chapter 2

Sky Pov This is just one of the lame days of my life being a waiter at a café. Take orders and brew coffee and the usual cliché things that happen every now and then, occasionally stumbling upon b***h costumers and perverted assholes checking my ass as if I'm on the menu. Like this bastard. "Good afternoon sir." I greet while giving the menu. "Do you need a couple of minute to order or shall I take it now?" I said politely while giving a small smile. He motioned me to come near him and whispered. "A dark Irish coffee... and, are you available baby? I bet you sell something like that here. Let me buy your number. Heh." He smirked and reached for me but I backed away. "Excuse me sir but this café includes decency in our work and it is highly inappropriate to sell ourselves as one of the menus." I looked at the guy sharply and smiled sweetly again. "So, one black Irish coffee, is that all?" The man tsked but then nodded at me. I returned to the counter to drop the order but then Claire, my coworker called me."Sky! You got a call." She said while handing me the landline phone. I reluctantly accept the phone while wondering who the heck would f*****g call me. I eventually accepted the phone and held it to my ear while mumbling a silent "Hello." "Hello. Is this Mr. Sky Thorns? I need to speak with him please." Came a woman's voice. "Yes, this is Sky. What may I help you?" The line went silent for a while as I hear some shuffling of papers and some movement. "This is Ms. Veronica, their homeroom teacher. It seems that you are not aware of the situation that your twins are into. You are their guardian right?" I could feel my heart skipped a beat and my nerves tensing. "Why? What happened to them? Are they okay? Should I head there immediately?" I ask worriedly. "Oh no! There's no need for that sir. It just seemed that your kids haven't told you that their tuitions have been due for the last 6 months. We would appreciate it if you drop by and pay for their dues." She said. Yes, the kids are studying at a private institution. Its the only place that I can send them to with a proper security and high walls. Both of them are under a 50% scholarship grant for their academic and athletic contributions to the school, but still I need to provide for the other 50% and I still don't have enough money. We are just barely through hunger period. I groaned and touched my temple hoping to ease the growing headache. "Umm... Were really in a tight situation now Ma'am. Could you give me a week? I'll try to do something about it." I said. "It's okay Mr. Thorns, I'll just inform the administration. Have a good day." The line went off as I release a deep sigh. Now what? I put the phone back to the rack and made my way to the counter to take over counter duties. Meanwhile, Maxime, one of our regular costumers made his way inside straight to the counter. I looked at him and curved my lip a little. "Hey Max. The usual?" I said and pick a cup under the counter. He nod while looking at me like an eagle examining my face. "What's wrong Sky? You look gloomy today." He stated and reached for a straw. "Nah. Just little financial problems, you know. Twins school and stuff." I said while handing him the cup of cold coffee. I reached for another bag to be filled with some bread. "Financial? I thought your works pay you well." He fiddled with his phone as I get back to work. "Uh-huh. But still not enough. I've got kids to send to school." He reached for the bag and tugged the collar of my uniform unto him. He shows me his phone with a contact and an article and I find myself reading everything in it. "If it's financial, I can certainly help you." He whispered but still loud enough for me to hear it. I stared at him with wide eyes at the realization. "You're telling me to join your auctions!?" He tucks his phone back and nodded a little. A small grin covering his face. "No!" I shouted. "I mean... what if... whatever doesn't matter. It's a No." "Come on Sky. It pays well!" he said. "But whatever, I'll leave my number here in case you change your mind." He handed me a red calling card and exited the store while calling out. "Call me anytime Sky and we'll talk about it!" "Wow." I deadpanned. He is telling me to sell myselfauction myself. I rubbed my face knowing that a blush is working its way to my face. "It's amazing to know that life could f**k me either way. And one is literally.
