CHAP 11

1187 Words
Out of all the food I made, this one was the most careful. I am not sure if it's because of the various werewolves around me or the fact that Señorito was dining with me for the first time. It's like I suddenly became careful not to make a mistake. "Are you alright, hija?" Manang was curious. I hardly swallowed the food in my mouth and then nodded. I noticed Senyorito staring at me, but I never dared to look back at him. Manang gave me a small smile while Miro, who was in front of me, had a suppressed laugh. This freakin' dog. "How about you? Are you okay?" Miro asked their Alpha. I simply looked at Senyorito from the corner of my eye. He sighed before slowly putting down the cutlery he was holding. He rested his elbows on the table and looked at Miro seriously. "As of now, I am. But unlike before, I don't know when I will lose control of my body again," he replied. Miro nodded. "They are looking for you," he said. "Can you handle it now for even a few minutes?" he added. I absentmindedly adjusted my seat and pretended to be busy eating. I am not an awoo awoo. That's why I don't think I have the right to be involved with them. Although, I badly wanted to open my mouth to speak. What if something bad happens? What if the others are here, then he loses himself? I'm not that stupid to not understand Miro's point. Yes, I knew very little about them, but the tension on their faces was enough to take it all in. I saw Manang peeking at me. It also seems that she is not just getting involved because of their ranks in . . . ahmmm. . . pack? "Can you stay with me?" I felt like everything I ate went up to my throat when Senyorito turned to me and said that. I coughed so hard that the rice almost splattered out of my mouth. In front of me, he took my glass from my side and brought it closer to me, as if I wasn't fighting for my life right now. "Thank you," I stammered and hurriedly drank. My heart felt like it would come out of my chest because of the force of its beating. This is how strong his presence is in me. It seemed like every time he said something, my system was being attacked. "W-What do you mean?" I asked after recovering and looking at him for a moment. He licked his bottom lip and leaned his back against his seat. "Right now, you are the one who can control me." My lips parted when I heard it. Even though he was serious and I couldn't detect any other emotions, I couldn't help but feel strange. I'm really going crazy. "H-How? I mean . . . how can I keep you sane? I-I have no idea," I admitted. "Then . . . what if you . . ." I swallowed nothing myself. "Suddenly lose yourself and attack me because I'm the one who's close to you?" He didn't answer immediately after that. He remained silent as he watched me. I couldn't help but look away because I couldn't hold his gaze. "Just call my name," he said. I frowned and turned my attention back. "There's something in your voice, and I don't know why, but every time you call, it feels like I'm being roused from a deep sleep." "Should I be happy about that?" It made me laugh fakely. I bit my lower lip when I realized that it had come out of my mouth on its own. "Well, let's just say it's a good thing. Besides, Miro will protect you if something bad happens," he assured. I snorted and looked at Miro. He raised his eyebrows at me. It's like he's telling me not to question his ability. After all, I wouldn't have been harmed earlier if I had followed his instructions. "What if he betrays you?" that's my questioning mouth again without brakes. In an organization, no matter how strong it is, it is not impossible for someone to break it. I thought they were going to hate it, but Manang and Miro laughed at the same time, while Senyorito just smiled. "Aside from Luna, I feel the deepest connection to Alpha, lady," Miro answered arrogantly. I secretly sniffed. You are the loyal one then. "I won't force you if you don't feel comfortable," Señorito got my attention again. This time I stared at him. He is serious and sincere in what he says. I trust them, but I'm also just a person who is afraid. "I know you're thinking about what you witnessed. You just avoid asking questions. But to let you know, she's safe now. You saved her . . . from me." "Really?" I couldn't help but be happy to hear it. I didn't pay attention to the bitterness in his tone at the end. I was consumed by conscience and pity for him. I know he didn't want to hurt anyone either, but because of his situation, he couldn't stop what happened. He just gave me a simple nod and looked at Miro. "Summon them now. If you see that things are not going well, stop the meeting and make them leave," he ordered sparingly, and then stood up to leave. Miro just bowed, a sign of following what their Alpha said. After that, we watched him climb the stairs. He's cold. I can clearly see that. Even if he is not scary in his current form, the power he holds is still visible. But despite everything, I could also feel his warmth. "Prepare stronger handcuffs, Manang," said Miro when he returned to the food. "W-Why?" I interrupted. He looked at me lazily and then let out a deep breath. "Like he said, if he loses control, we'll have to lock him in the room again." I swallowed and understood everything. "He managed to break the chains earlier to follow you. I didn't expect that either. I'm sorry, hija. You almost got hurt," said Manang. "I'm afraid, Manang . . ." I said softly, just enough for them to hear. No one answered me. Perhaps they understood the source of my fear. Even if they don't admit it, I know they are nervous about what could happen. I don't know, but my eyes instinctively went up to the second floor. I was surprised for a moment when I saw Senyorito's figure. He was leaning against the wall and looking directly at me. There's something in his eyes that I can't explain. Pain? But for what? He stopped staring and turned to head in the direction of his chamber. He looked frustrated and sad even though I couldn't quite see it on his face. He's like a solving puzzle. A dangerous piece that I should never touch. "I'll stay . . ." I unconsciously whispered when he completely disappeared from my sight. "I'll try my best to keep him sane."
