The event officially started around 6:30 PM. There was loud cheering, teasing, and applause from the guests as we walked down the red carpet together and headed to the table prepared for us where our family was waiting. Alec and I sat in the middle. Like other events, the host of the dinner party followed a certain flow.
After a heartwarming introduction from the host, which I barely listened to because I was getting bored, our family began to give their messages. I didn't know what some of the guests were crying about while listening, but I let it be. It's better for them to feel it fully now so they'll be completely shocked later. Some close friends of ours spoke next. Two of Alec's friends, two of mine, and because Samantha loves to be the center of attention, she also gave a speech.
