Jack jumped in excitement when Cindy left his office. He didn't know what Emily had said to goad Cindy to this level but he was very grateful to her.
When Emily realized that Cindy had gone into Jack's office to report her, she began to panic. She had acted outside the script that Jack gave her. What if Jack found out and sent her away? She began to contemplate if she should apologize to Cindy but then, she noticed Cindy entering the office with a smug smile on her face.
She wondered what Jack must have said to Cindy and saw her pack up her things. She immediately stood up and asked Cindy, "what happened? Did Jack fire you?"
