6: Everything will be fine

"Yes, it seems that you really found your mate. Based on your initial reactions, we can safely assume. However, sparks may not be there yet for two reasons. He is a different creature, or he is using some type of cloaking spell. Cloaking spells tend to distort our senses." An elder from our pack told us. He was the most knowledgeable when it comes to issues with mates. He was a mestizo his Papa was an Illustrado while his Mama was Spanish. "Juancho, did this happen to anyone you may know? Or does our books talk about this scenario?" Edith asked the elder with so much respect. She was wary that this might just be a hunch. "Si señorita, my Mama has felt this when she saw Papa. Our history does not talk about this as they don't know this yet when this happened a century ago. In those times, having a Filipino mate is unheard of especially since they were in España. But alas, Mama experienced it and was able to pass on the knowledge to me. If you want further information, you may check your grandfather's diary. I believe he has his own anecdotes of the things that happened to our pack in his time." Juancho was almost asleep when he said this. Living at the age of 103 was normal for wolves but the energy we had almost depleted as time went by.  "Thank you, Juancho for that information. We will leave you now. I will see to it that a servant will be assigned in this area to help you and the other elders." It was Alex who bid him goodbye. They found the elder snoring already. "Hermana, thank you. I don't know what I would do if you did not accompany me. Surely, he won’t talk to me alone. I don't have the power to ask him." Edith hugged her Hermana. "Don't you dare think like that? Where is my fierce and strong hermanita who was good at strategizing?" She looked at her in the eyes. Edith had been teary-eyed. It had been two years after her first shift, and she had been looking for her mate for way too long. "I am just tired Hermana. For the past two years, I haven't had a good night's sleep. It is always the same nightmares. Now that I found him, I just hope I can have a peaceful sleep." She sighed and tears started to run down her face. "Oh hermanita, all will be fine. Remember when I had to chase Claudia just so she could accept me as her mate. Moon goddess has her ways to help us find our mate and be together. We just need to trust her and do what we think is right. Whatever is happening with you and your mate will always have a solution. With you as a bookworm. It won't take long for you to piece the puzzles together." She hugged her little sister and stayed that way in the middle of the dirt road. "Thank you, Hermana. I needed to hear that. It reminds me of what I can do. Let's go we have a ton of diaries to read." She grabbed her hermana's hand and dragged her towards their packhouse. It seemed as though; Alex knew how badly she needed her. She had become her support these past few years. # "Pat where are you going? The celebration has just begun." His Mama asked. It was unlike him to leave early. "I am going out to get some fresh air Mama. No need to worry about me. I will be back. I promise." He then moved away from the stage and went to the balcony. The celebration for his sister was held in their grand hall, where every engkanto in the woods had gathered. She was being introduced to them as part of the royal family. In the next few months, she would entertain suitors from the other kingdom. Since she was now considered an adult, she may choose whomever she liked. However, she must choose within the same year, or else their Papa must find a husband for her. One year might be short for humans but for them, it was quite long. Engkantos considered one day to be equivalent to one month for humans. Unlike Princes that had a destiny that they need to search for. His sister didn't have one. She was free to find her partner. This was what had been done for many generations. It helped them to create alliances with other engkanto thru family ties. "Are you still here? Why haven't you gone back?" His Mama had stood by his side. "Mama, how did you and Papa meet?" Pat asked her. "You know the story, my dear. It was a cloudy day in the woods, and I got lost on my way home. Your Papa saw me and there he professes his love to me. I was stunned but I accepted him. I knew he was mine the moment our eyes met. Why do you ask?" She explained. "I think, I found my destiny, Mama." He let out a sad smile. "That is great news. Where is she? Did you invite her here?" She was excited. "No Mama, I did not invite her. She is a human, I think." He gave out a sigh. "Oh, my son, why are you sad? Even if she is human. She is your destiny and I know she will accept you." His Mama assured him. "Thanks, Mama. But I am not sure if I will be able to see her again. She just gave me her name. She said she will tell me about her house if we meet again. But since we could not go out often then I don't think I will be able to see her." Patricio was feeling defeated. "Nonsense. Let me talk to Iñigo about this. I am sure he will be able to grant you safe passage until you bring her home here." His Mama was excited, and it can be shown in her face. She was also looking forward to this day when her youngest son would find his destiny. "Thank you, Mama. I will not waste my time sulking here. I will try my best to find her." He was determined and his Mama was happy for him. Edith wait for me my lady, my love. I will find you and make you my wife. I won't go back here without you.
