"Isn't this Jaylin, the son of the retired Alpha Nathan of the Irongate Pack?" I ask no one in particular, as I turn to stare at him as he slips out of my hands and watch.
Could he be my fated mate or was my wolf just excited and...horny? If it's true that he's my mate, why then did he walk away as if I mean nothing to him? Did he see me drinking and getting cosy with another man? Oh no!
My thoughts are in disarray even as I decide to go back to where Patton is and join him. He's still as drunk as I left him but he doesn't fail to notice that I am shaken and that I spend a little bit longer in the washrooms.
I reply to each of his questions as I shift uncomfortably on the couch. All I'm focused on right now is to pick my clutch bag and phone and then disappear from this club before everything escalated to something unanticipated!
I only grab that opportunity when Patton excuses himself to use the washroom and even before he takes three steps away, I'm already on my feet and ready to run for my dear life.
I walk away briskly and within no time, I'm right outside the club and I'm frantically trying to make a call to my driver to come for me.
He picks on the fourth ring and I order him to come to the club immediately to pick me up and since I don't want to attract attention, I try to hide behind one of the cars so that no one notices me.
I haven't hidden myself even for a minute when I hear footsteps approaching. I stand straight immediately and turn to face the intruder but I'm surprised to see the same guy, Alpha Jaylin who happens to own this club.
"You again?" He asks, and I don't miss his cunning grin.
"Are you stalking me?" I ask curiously while avoiding his curious stare.
"I should be asking you the same since you're the one hiding behind my car!" He grins widely, yet again.
"What? Is this your ride? I'm sorry I didn't know. In fact, I was about to leave!" I defend myself as I try to walk away from him, my face fixated on the floor. My heart is racing wildly as I do so but before I can walk any further, he grabs my hand and draws me back to him.
His touch alone sends electric shivers all over my body and I can't help but submit involuntarily. Is he really my mate? I can't stop asking myself. If he really is, then why isn't he claiming me?
"Let go of me, Jaylin!" I command him but that doesn't move him, instead, he pulls me closer to himself and tips my face, forcing me to look into his eyes.
"Where's your lover boy, huh?" He asks curiously and I notice his eyes have started turning from ice blue to grey. Is he mad at me? Is his wolf taking over? Damn! "Oh, I see! You've stolen from him and run away?" He mocks me, definitely infuriating me.
"I'm not that kind of a person!" I defend myself. "My parents have a lot of money at their disposal and I can always get whatever I want from them!" I say in utter annoyance, trying to get off his grip. Who does he think he is? He might be my mate but he hasn't claimed me yet, therefore I'm not answerable to him for now!
"Then what are you looking for in that human guy?" Jaylin asks curiously.
"I don't owe you any explanation, Alpha!" I say and immediately my phone starts ringing. It's my driver and he wants to know where I'm standing for him to pick me up from there. Since his hand is still gripping mine, I order him to let go of me yet again but he doesn't bulge. He's quite stubborn....or so I guess!
"Why are you doing this, Daniella?"
Oh, so he already knows my name? Wonderful!
"Who told you my name?" I ask curiously.
"Who doesn't know Alpha Stephano's first born daughter who's about to graduate from high school? Who doesn't know her wayward ways and her many lovers in and outside her pack? Who doe-"
"Enough!" I cut him short. "I'm broken enough so just let me go. My driver and maids are waiting!"
"Not until you tell me what you see in that short guy Patton!"
He even knows his name? Oh no! And Patton doesn't know him at all!
"He is my friend."
"Your lover, you mean?"
"Watch-" I cut myself short before I say something to disrespect him.
"I should watch my tongue, right?"
"I didn't say that, Jaylin. Just let go of me!"
"Not before I claim you as my fated mate!" His words make my heart to skip several beats. "And I'll do that in Patton's presence!"
"What?!"
