Lindsey came back to the surface after a particularly rough jolt as they lifted her down the front stairs of her parents house to wheel her out to the ambulance. She looked to her left, as much as she could with the neck brace that they had put on her, and saw Jason getting into his truck to follow them to the hospital. She glanced right and saw the policemen putting her now conscience father into the back of the police car in handcuffs. She could see and understand what was going on around her but it was as though she were watching from a distance. This couldn’t really be happening to her.
