My Personal Bodyguard

(Kamile) I still couldn’t shake the dream I had last night. It had been a while since I dreamed of Xander and his beautiful purple eyes. Last night I meet a man with the same name and purple eyes and mi mind goes haywire. It’s probably a coincidence that he has the same name and purple eyes nothing more. Xander, my Xander left many years ago. I have no idea where he is, but I pray that he’s okay. I walk into my office with my persona assistant right behind me. I take a seat and turn on my computer. I could hardly sleep last night. For some reason all I could think about was Xander. “Ms. Moore-” Yolanda started but I put a hand up stopping her. “Before you start, there will be a male coming in for an interview. His first name is Xander. I want you to let them know downstairs. When he arrives, I want you to let me know before you bring him up” I tell Yolanda. “Yes ma’am” she says before telling me what I have scheduled for today and then she leaves. I continue to sit on my chair and look out the floor to ceiling window and think about that dream last night. I can’t help but wonder how things would have been if he had never left or how things would have been if I had opened a restaurant. Would he have come and be my first costumer like he promised he would? I miss him. During the years I got to know him, we became close. I wish he was here now. My phone rings snapping me out of my thoughts. I look at the clock and I see it’s eight fifty five. “Yes?” I asked answering the phone. “Mr. Blackwood is here. I’m on my way down to get him” Yolanda tells me. I felt my heart skip a beat at the sound of his last name. Xander’s last name was Blackwood as well. Could it be him? No, I doubt it. That name is common now a days. “Thank you” I said. I get up and look at myself in the mirror. I’m wearing my black Giorgio Amani pencil skirt that stops just above my knees, with a matching blazer, and a light purple long sleeve blouse. For shoes I’m wearing black Giorgio Armani round toe pumps. My hair is in half up half down hairdo and my make up is natural with just some eyeliner, mascara, and lip gloss. I hear a knock on the door. “Come in” I say. The door opens and Yolanda walks in with Xander right behind her. “Would you like anything to drink, sir?” Yolanda asks. “No, thank you” he says and she nods before leaving. He looks at me and I see his eyes travel along my body. “It’s you” he says. “Hello again Xander. Please have a seat” I said gesturing to the chair. “Why am I here?” he asks. “You said you were looking for a job and I’m in need of a bodyguard” I said. “I’m not qualified to be a bodyguard” he said. “After last night, I believe you are” I said. He sighs but doesn’t stand up, so I take this as a sign to continue. “I need a bodyguard not just here at work, but at home as well. I will pay you and give you a room in my house, a phone, and even your own car” I said. “What’s the catch?” he asks. “You keep me safe. If you need time off, you can tell me and I’ll find a replacement for that time you need off. If you don’t like the job then you let me know, then you can leave and keep the car” I said. “So you want me to live in your house with you?” he asked. I got up and walked to the floor to ceiling window. It’s actually a whole wall and it’s bulletproof. I had been thinking about this after I woke up from that dream. He didn’t think about it twice in helping me and I can tell he’s a good person that just needs a hand. Something deep inside me tells me that he will never hurt me or put me in harms way. I take a deep breath and I can feel his eyes on me. “From a very young age I have been able to tell when someone has good intentions or not. Last night you helped me without even knowing who I was and you opened up a little in telling me that you are looking for a place and a job. While we spoke you never looked at me with bad intentions and to be honest, I felt safe with you. It takes a lot for me to feel safe with someone. So yes, I want you to live with me in my house” I said turning around only to see he was already standing not even a foot away from me. Even with my high heels on he was still taller than me. I looked up to see him already looking at me. I feel my heart skip a beat. I turn and looked outside the window again. “Do you like it?” I asked. “It’s quite the view” he says. “I love it when it’s raining” I said not meaning to say it out loud. “Was it your idea to make this glass wall?” he asked. “No. it was my father’s. My mom would always stand at the window here to think, so dad one day surprised her in making this” I gestured to the wall. “But even after it mom would still stand here to think” I said. It was true. Most of the time the worked or traveled. They hardly ever had time for me. My grandparents were the same way before they passed the company to my father. I wonder if dad thinks I’m going to be like that too. I shake my head to get the thoughts away. “So Xander. Have you made a choice?” I asked turning around to look at him. His shirt stretches across his chest. I’m afraid that in a wrong move it will rip. “Okay, I will take the job” he says and I schooled my face not to show a smile. “Great. Then let’s get you situated” I said before walking to my phone. “Security” Bradly answered. “Bradly, come to my office please” I said. “Yes. Miss Moore” he said before I hung up. I then dialed Yolanda. “Yes, Miss Moore?” she asked. “I need you to reschedule everything I have today. I will be out of the office today” I said. “Of course Miss Moore” she said. There was a knock on the door. “Come in” I said and Bradly walked in. “You called Miss Moore?” Bradly asked. “Yes, Bradly this is Xander. Xander, this is Bradly head of security here” I introduced. “Pleased to meet you Xander” Bradly said extending his hand from Xander to shake. “Pleased to meet you too, Bradly” Xander said shaking his hand. “Bradly, I want you to get Xander registered and make sure that the lobby and all security know that Xander works for me now. He is my personal bodyguard, so he can come and go as he pleases. Get him a badge and make sure he’s in the system and back here within a half an hour” I said. “Yes, ma’am” Bradly said. “Go with him Xander. I’ll see you in an half an hour” I said. Xander nodded and got up and left with Bradly.
