~Dream~
(Kamile)
I walk around the neighborhood looking for someone to try my food. I have always loved cooking, but my parents think it’s a waste of time. They just want me to continue my studies. I hear sniffling and stop. I hear the sniffling again and something inside of me tells me to follow the sound, so I do. I walk into an alley where I see a boy with his knees up to his chest, his arms wrapped around his knees and his head is resting on his arms.
“Hello” I called and gently poked his arm. He flinches but looks up at me. I’m taken aback by how beautiful his violet eyes are.
“Would you like to eat? I made it myself”, I told him, extending the bowl towards him. He looks at the bowl and then at me before he snatches the bowl. I smiled and take out a spoon out of my backpack and a juice before handing it to him. I sat next to him, and he began to eat. He takes a spoon full and once he chews and swallows, he begins to shove more food as if someone was going to take it away.
“Slow down, you’re going to choke”, I told him. As if realizing what he was doing, he gave me a smile and slows down.
“You said you made this?” he asks.
“Yes. Do you like it” I asked.
“This is amazing” he says as he continues to eat.
“I’m glad you like it. I’m Kamile, by the way. Kamile Moore” I smiled, extending my hand for him to shake.
“I’m Xander. Xander Blackwood” he smiles and shakes my hand. When Xavier finished eating, I put the bowl in my backpack. It was already nighttime and it was getting colder.
“Would you like some hot chocolate?” I asked.
“I… uh…” he stammered.
“Come, it’s my treat” I said, jumping to my feet and grabbing his hand.
“Why are you being so nice to me?” he asked.
“I believe in being kind to others and I like you. Do you want to be my friend?” I asked.
“Yes, I would like to be your friend” he said, taking my hand in his. I bought us some hot chocolate before walking to the park.
“Did you really like the food I made?” I asked.
“Yes, it was really good” he said.
“Good, then I’ll make something else tomorrow and bring it to you” I said happily.
“Are you going to become a chef?” he asks.
“No. I just like cooking”, I giggled.
“I think you should become a chef. You are really good at it. Plus, I’ll be your first costumer” he grins, making me blush.
“Okay, in the future I’ll become a chef” I smiled.
“Good, then I promise I will always be your first costumer” he said, sticking out his pinky. I wrap my pinky around his with a smile. After we drank our hot chocolate, we went our separate ways, promising to meet back again tomorrow.
For three years, I cooked and brought Xander food. I also kept band aids and alcohol swabs with me because I would see him sometimes with a cut or scrape. I even gave him one of my warm hoodies that were too big for me. My parents always bought me clothes and forgot they bought it for me, so I gave Xander the biggest hoodie I owned. One night, it was raining and my parents weren’t home, like always, so I left the house with the food and a raincoat. When I got to the park like always Xander wasn’t there, so I checked the alley where I first saw him and he wasn’t there either. I waited at the park for hours, but he never came. The next day, I went back but I didn’t see him. Was he okay? Was he hungry? I continued this routine for two weeks, but he never came. I wished I knew where he lived because I never saw him again.
