I hang back and, luckily, our two arrests for the evening go smoothly. When we return to the station, we aren’t called out for the rest of the night. Which means we go out patrolling the streets with the rest of the cadets. Things seem eerily quiet, but with so much on my mind, I don’t even notice.
When our shift is over, we go to the barracks and grab our stuff. The guys and I couldn’t wait to get home and arranged to go straight home from there. It’s early in the morning, so we will be just in time for Godfrey’s full-house breakfast. I’m too tired and let Miller drive home.
That’s what he is there for, after all… Okay, fine, so I got used to having him drive the van at work.
Miller “If I’m going to be doing the driving home from now on, I demand we get a better car.”
