I was sitting in class when I got called down to the office. I didn’t understand why. I had kept my head down and did my work.
Kids would pick on me, but I would always stay to myself. It was a lonely existence that I had become accustomed to.
I walked into the office, and the principal and a man stood there.
“Follow me, Alex.” The principal gestured to me.
I followed them to his office, and he closed the door. The man stood there, stoic, and I looked at both.
“Alexandra, we have decided that starting next year, you will attend Saintwood High.”
Saintwood High? What the hell? That was on the other side of the state! My parents hadn’t told me anything about this. To say it confused me was an understatement.
“The transfer must confuse you,” the man spoke.
