Chapter 16: Joanna Takes Brian to the Hospital

1107 Words
Joanna heard Brian's footsteps behind her growing louder, and by the time she turned around, they were practically face-to-face. Brian reached out to embrace her, and she pushed him away. "Brian, don't forget that I am married," she said. Damn! – she thought – Why did I say that? I didn't mean to say that! Brian froze for a second, and then he smiled and stepped closer to her. With each step forward that he took, she took one backward, until she hit a wall. She was trapped. Brian lifted her chin and leaned into her. Joanna watched nervously as Brian's lips drew close to hers, and she didn't know what to do. She slowly closed her eyes. Brian whispered in her ear: "Jo, are you saying this to remind me or you?" Joanna was too embarrassed to open her eyes. She thought that he was going to kiss her, but all he did was talk to her. Joanna finally opened her eyes, and when she did, he kissed her lips. And with his lips on hers, she stopped struggling. When they separated, Brian laughed and said, "Hey, silly girl." Joanna was flushed, and she pushed him away. She said, "You are the silly one. Not me!" "Am I?" Brian touched her cheek. As Joanna quickly pushed his hand away, she happened to notice a black dot on his wrist, and she immediately thought of Tina's concentrated acid. She held his arm and asked him what the dot was. Brian looked at it and said, "This happened when I fought Tina, but it's not a big deal." Joanna frowned, and she said, "I think it is a big deal. We need to get you to the hospital." Brian liked the idea of going somewhere with Joanna, so he agreed to go. Joanna held his hand and led him towards his car. She set him up in the back seat, and when she drove Brian to the hospital, he was pleased by her concern, and he couldn't help but smile. When Joanna saw the look on his face, she said, "You are injured, so don't be so happy." Brian didn't stop smiling, though, and he watched her through the rear-view mirror as they drove. His gaze left her feeling a little breathless, and at one point, she almost hit a tree. After that, she scolded him and told him to look away. "What did I do?" Brian asked innocently. "Is there a problem with me looking at you?" Joanna was speechless. She wanted to pull over and beat him, and then take him to the hospital. Brian: "Even if there is a problem, I can't help but look at you. You are so gorgeous." Joanna was so shocked that she had to slow the car down and pulled over. Then she turned her head and gave Brian a fierce look. Brian smiled and said, "Don't you agree with me?" Joanna ignored him and started the engine. After a while, they arrived at the hospital, and the doctor who saw Brian happened to be the same one that had bandaged Joanna's wrist. When the doctor saw them, she said, "It's you guys again. What is it this time?" Joanna said, "He was hurt." She helped Brian pull up his sleeve and pointed to the black dot. "His wrist is injured." The doctor checked the injury and frowned. "How did you get this?" she asked. Joanna explained what had happened, skipping over any of the incriminating details. Because the doctor knew that they were different from the ordinary people, she didn't ask any more questions. Instead, she concentrated on treating Brian's wounds. After everything was done, they thanked the doctor and made their way towards the main entrance. Joanna didn't want to relive what had happened in the car on the way to the hospital, so she said to Brian, "I found you a driver. He should be here soon. Just wait here. I have to go now." Joanna was about to leave, but Brian grabbed her wrist. "You can't just abandon me here," he said. Joanna: "I'm not abandoning you! How could you say that? I found you a driver. Let him drive you home! You will be safe and sound before you know it!" Brian: "I saved you today. Thus, it would be better if you drive me home. Can't you see that? After all, what if the person you contacted is a bad guy? As you know, I'm a hot guy. Anything could happen!" Joanna wanted to pinch his face and ask him why he was so confident. However, after staring at his handsome face for a few seconds, the words died in her throat. "If you're worried," she said, "drive yourself home. You are a grown man, and I know what you are capable of. You did drive us to the police station! Remember?!?!?!" Brian scowled and said, "You just don't want to be responsible for my injury! I thought that you were a responsible person, but I guess I was wrong. It turns out that you don't even want to drive me home." Joanna shook off Brian's hold on her wrist. She was so angry that her face had turned red. "Fine!" she snapped. "Get in the f*****g car. I'll drive you home, you big baby!" Joanna walked over to the car, opened the door, and sat in the driver's seat. Brian smiled as he took the passenger seat beside her. As Joanna drove, Brian kept his eyes to himself, which was a relief to Joanna. The drive wasn't long, and before she knew it, they'd arrived at Brian's villa. Joanna parked in the driveway and waited for Brian to get out, but he didn't. They silently sat in the car, and after a minute, Joanna said, "We're here. You can get out now." Brian turned to Joanna and said, "Shall we go inside and have a drink?" Joanna punched him in the chest. "Go home!" she shouted. "I'm not interested. How much clearer to I have to make myself?" Brian groaned in pain. He rubbed his chest and said, "It hurts..." Joanna: "Enjoy your pain!" Brian smiled, and without warning, he pressed Joanna against the seat and stared intensely into her eyes. Joanna was a little overwhelmed. "What are you doing?" she asked. "I want you to make out with me," Brian said. He pressed her hands tightly to the seat and kissed her passionately, and he didn't let her go until he had thoroughly enjoyed the kiss. Then he opened the door and got out of the car, leaving Joanna in a daze.
