It was a big cooperation day between The Flaming Crescent Moon and The Poison Fangs Pack. Elijah had a fifty percent share in the company, whereas Dom had only twenty percent. It was mainly because I owned a thirty percent share.
I wasn’t invited to the new project deal, and it irked me this time. It did happen just like the previous time. And I was now sitting in my room with papers being served to me instead of lunch.
"Just sign here and here," Marvin, the Royal Beta of the pack, tapped his fingers on multiple spots for me. I was sitting attentively and only watching the papers the whole time. I have signed these before. I know what they were. It was a consent form of me transferring my thirty percent share to Dom, making him equal to Elijah.
"Once you are done signing, I will take the papers to the office," he explained, anxiously watching me stare at the pen.
"I will take the papers myself," I ended up deciding to go to the office and see what’s been going on. It was time I took care of my father’s business. I have given up on the title of the Alpha of the pack and even gave twenty percent of my shares to my mate. I was now realizing there was no need to give up on anything. If Dom loves me, he will support my decision to work in the office with everybody else.
"Oh! Okay. I will prepare the car for you," Marvin said as he exited the room. I didn’t sign the papers like he expected I would. I got ready in a black tight skirt to look professional and left for the car.
"Wait a minute," Lady Helen spotted me and stopped me in my tracks. "Where are you headed looking like this?" She had a frown on her forehead as she scanned me from head to toe.
"I am headed to the office," I answered, not waiting around for her to argue with me. I bet she would call Dom and let him know, but at this point, it was irrelevant. I have made up my mind.
The car ride was literally only ten minutes when I was standing outside the big, familiar building. My father had worked hard to develop this business, and then I just handed it over to my mate. I don’t mind it, but I need to keep some shares as a reminder and as a tribute to my father’s hard work.
"Good morning!" I heard the greetings with quizzical stares being thrown at me. It wasn’t a surprise that nobody suspected me of joining the office.
"Dom is in the office with Alpha King Elijah. They are waiting for the file. " Marvin opened the glass door for me to invite me in. While waiting for the file, Dom and Elijah were having coffee. As they saw me, they shared a glance, and then Dom got out of his chair to welcome me.
"My beautiful Luna decided to come here in person and give me the shares. How thoughtful." He gave me a gentle hug before helping me adjust to the chair beside his seat. Elijah was sitting in my father’s chair, watching us silently.
"Good morning," I said to him, and he bobbed his head in response.
"Have you signed the papers already?" Dom snatched the papers out of my hands excitedly and started skimming through them. I knew it would disappoint him to see I hadn’t signed them yet. "Yeah! You haven’t. No worries," he smiled, placing them on the table for me.
"We can do it now." He was the only one talking and excitingly moving around at this point. Elijah had his eyes narrowed on my face, as if he was reading my expressions.
"Here! Just sign the papers and then you are free from all the stress." He adjusted the pen between my fingers and calmed down finally. The eyes were on me now. I was staring at the papers and my pen once again.
"Actually, I have been thinking," I stated, pushing the papers away and setting the pen aside. "I want to keep the shares and join the office tomorrow," I said, after gathering a lot of strength. It wasn’t easy for me to defy Dom. He even reacted by letting out a laugh, thinking I was joking.
"Come on! We can joke about other things after you have signed the papers," he laughed, gently patting the back of my hand.
"I am not joking. I have decided to join the office." I was offended because he wasn't taking me seriously. After seeing the frown on my face, he understood it was a serious subject.
"You can’t be serious, Ravine! The office work is not for she-wolves." His statement was misogynistic. I have always known to have certain views, but I didn’t know they would be this extreme.
"Why not? A she-wolf can do whatever she wants. It is not about gender but hard work," Elijah interrupted us and shocked me with his views. I didn’t expect that from him. I thought he would be on Dom’s side.
It was just that my past has made me look at him differently. Even when I didn’t interact at all with him in my past.
"Thank you so much for believing in the she-wolves." I told Elijah, not looking directly into his eyes.
"I respect and support your decision. And I can assign you to work after you sign the papers." Dom sneakily slid the papers close to me once again. I just felt this urge to stare at him in disbelief, but because Elijah was already observing us, I spared Dom.
"I have decided to keep my shares. I mean, why does it matter who gets to keep the shares? What’s yours is mine, and what’s mine is yours," I said as I stole eyes from Dom. His constant attempts to make me sign the papers were making me anxious.
"I also think it is a better idea. Let’s celebrate the joining of Luna Ravine tonight at your place." Elijah didn’t leave room for any more discussions as he got on his feet and fixed his coat to leave. He had to be back in his pack for some work before he came back here again. He was hardworking and always drowning in work. However, I was now left behind to deal with Dom.
As soon as Elijah left us alone, Dom grunted and got up from his seat angrily.
"I can’t believe you made me look like a thirsty bastard in front of Alpha King Elijah," Dom yelled at me, throwing a fit after he didn’t get the shares.
"How did I do that? I only kept my shares," I said in my defense.
"Then you should have told me all that beforehand. You agreed to give me the shares before our mating ceremony. So far, you have only backed down from all the promises you have made to me. Did you only say those things so that I could marry you?" He slammed the paperweight against the wall, and it shattered the antique painting on the floor.
"Did you only marry me for all those promises?" I asked him instead and successfully got his attention back to me. He tilted his head and walked close enough to look me in the eye before he muttered.
"I married you because I liked you. But it seems like you only lied to me and hid your true identity." Those words hit me like a stab.
"I hid my identity from you? I am the same Ravine," I whispered in hurt, tears rushing to the surface.
"I need some time alone," he muttered before walking out on me. I just didn’t expect him to be so angry with me for not giving him my shares.
It was as if he wanted everything I had except for me.
