Chapter 18 Evan blinked when the afternoon sunlight hit his eyes. He realized he’d stepped outside of the high school, onto the stairs heading to the front lawn. Same as he did every day. But when he got to the sidewalk today, he turned left to walk home alone instead of right to meet Anne in front of the middle school next door.
