With the first c***k of dawn, Rose woke up and darted straight out to the backyard ignoring the fact that her hasty footsteps had disturbed Dame Petal’s sleep. A wave of frostiness stung her body as she stepped outside the snow-filled backyard with her bare feet. Crossing her arms over her chest, she cringed in pain and managed to walk towards the tree.
“I can’t believe you found your way back,” she gasped in excitement after noticing the dove resting inside the hollow of the tree. It opened its eyes and glanced at her before falling asleep again. Nestled cosily inside, it assured Rose that it was fine and warm inside.
Forgetting all about the cold weather she watched the dove and recollected the strange event that took place at Lady Catherine’s estate.
“Why did I see that boy again?”
