The next day...
“So we’re just going to tell her that you and Mat had a meeting early this morning and that's why you’re here for breakfast,” Lily explains to me as we walk down the hill from their packhouse towards another house. After Lily pulled Emily into the car last night Mat told me that I was welcome to come over for breakfast this morning if I wanted to spend time with them where Maddy was comfortable and least likely to get a headache being near me. So I woke up early and drove out here because I’d drive all day if that's what it took to make my mate comfortable around me and to spend time with my child.
