The day it all started

(LOUISE’S POV) “Louise Carter!” That was my teacher, Mr Sandburg and he looked pretty upset. I looked around the class and noticed that everyone was looking at me. I felt my cheeks go slightly hot. “Louise was daydreaming again.” Someone said and everyone laughed. Mean kids. Well so what if sometimes I get a little lost there. It’s not like I’m dumb anyway and in fact on the contrary, I am am really smart. High school is just horrible and stupid and filled with disgusting immature teenagers. I was very relieved when the bell rang and so it meant school was over. Mr Sandburg looked at me with the ‘you’re not getting away with this’ look but we both knew I was. He would have forgotten all about it in the next class. Besides as I said, I am a smart kid after all. Carrying my bag over my shoulder I joined the rest of the kids to leave and they all made stupid noise as we made out. “Louise! Did you have good time with your imaginary family in your imaginary land?” Some stupid boy said as he got on his skate board and went down the hallways. If I was a witch, I would laser his skateboard with my eyes but now as a pissed high school student, I called after him. “f**k off loser.” But it did not matter, no one heard me and so he definitely did not hear me either. Everyone was bustling about the Christmas dance coming up as if the decorations and the posters around are not enough to tell us that the holiday season is here. Now please, don’t get me wrong, I love love love Christmas, there is good food, I don’t have to go to school, my mum and dad don’t work and so they spend more than enough time with me. Really, Christmas may be one of those rare times where it feels like my life is perfect. Now, what I don’t like to know about is the Christmas dance. Yes, my school holds an annual Christmas dance where boys and girls go as couples or whatever and they dress up and take pictures together. But for someone like me, Christmas dances are out of the picture. Mum says I don’t have to go with a boy, she says I can go on my own but then I know that I’ll be made fun of. There’s someone I really wish I could go with but I don’t think that’s ever going to happen. His name is Ben Davies and I would give anything to go to the Christmas dance with him. It will be perfect. I know this because I’ve imagined this about a billion times. Now let me tell you who Ben Davis is. Ben Davis is the cutest boy in the world and I have been in love with him since middle school. He has shoulder length brown hair which he packs in to a ponytail, he is tall, slim and he has a good set of beautiful white teeth and he also has beautiful brown eyes. He is in my history class, my English class and my arts class. I always watch him throughout but I have never said a word to him. He does not even know I exist. Anyway, story of my life! And so what if I’m different than the other kids? So what if I don’t have any friends. I’ll rather stay on my own than be mean like these kids here and anyway, I’ll be off to college too where I could be among sophisticated people not these assholes. And then none of it will matter, Not the Annual Christmas dance not anything. I got in to my cute blue convertible car that I had received from my dad for my 16th birthday and I drove home from school nodding my head along to the music playing on the radio. When I got home, I noticed a familiar Pink Ferrari parked in the front and just beside the fountain. I groaned. I know what that means. It means that my cousin is around. Oh what is she doing here! I went in to the house and our Nanny came to welcome me. I hugged her and gave her a kiss. “How was school my darling?” She said tugging my cheeks playfully as she took my things from my hand. “School was annoying as always . Same old Nana. Sophia is around right?” I asked even though I wished somehow I could be wrong. “She is in the kitchen.” Nana said and she narrowed her eyes and walked away. It was no surprise that Nana did not like Sophia. She was a real human being not like the kiss asses of my school. They all love Sophia. Before I even pushed open the door to the kitchen , I groaned to myself hearing laughter and voices. Oh No! She is not alone. I pushed opened the door and went in to the kitchen and there they were. “Oh. Louise, it’s you.” Sophia said flicking her hair past her shoulders and patting it gently the way she did whenever she was meeting someone so they could notice the perfect texture of her beautiful wavy black hair. Ladies and Gentlemen, meet Sophia Parker. She is my cousin and we attend the same high school and we are both high school juniors. Sophia Parker is the hottest and the most famous girl in school. She is one of the famous young models here in Manhattan. She is like a goddess to them and most boys would have you pour hot water on their neck just for them to take her out. But to be honest, my cousin has to be one of the meanest girls I have ever met. She is so mean to me and she has made fun of me all my life. She mocks me about every and anything that I do. It is like sometimes she tries her best to make my life a living hell. Now here she was seated in my kitchen with her two minions, Claire and Joy. The three of them together were the IT girls of high school. No one dared to cross path with them and everyone wanted to cross paths with them. Girls dreaded them or want to be their friends and guys always love them so much. “Oh. Look, it’s your geeky cousin.” Tory said. “This is my house.” I said I know what they are doing here, I don’t need to be told. They are here because they work for my mum’s company as her models. My mother is a fashion designer. A very big fashion designer to being with, she is the famous Jenna Carter. She is a celebrity stylist and designer and she has a very successful clothing line along with international stores. Okay. We are stinking rich. Dad works as a contracted pilot and so he is not around most of the time except on holidays breaks and other special occasions. We are wealthy but that’s okay because everyone around us is. We live in a rich suburb and attend schools and occasions with wealthy and sometimes famous people. “Yeah we know it’s your house. What are you? Four years old?” Sophia said in mockery and her friends laughed at me. “Whatever.” I muttered . “Where’s my mum?” “She had to go to pick a couple of things.” Sophia said with her nose turned up at me. I poured myself some orange juice and then went to get some ice cubes so that I could put it in the glass. Returning, I picked up my glass of juice and was going out. When I came back for my glass, the girls sort of giggled at me and I looked up to know what the matter was. “Oh won’t you stay and have some fun with us Louise.” Sophia said to me and then she added in a way lower voice but audible enough for me to hear. “We are having beer.” I’ve never tasted beer in my life and I did Brie any to tell them that and so I used some thing else to cover it up. “It’s Thursday, shouldn’t you do that on weekends only.” I said. They all laughed together. “You don’t have to be such a nerd all the time Louise. Live a little.” Sophia said and in a way, it sounded like I was disgusting to her. Her and her friends laughed at me and then I hurried out of the kitchen. They were such mean girls. If I was as mean as Sophia was to me then she would not even be a model for mum. But I don’t tell Mum what Sophia does so she does not know. This is because My mum and Sophia’s mum are sisters. Mum is the older one though but they really look alike and we all have the same dark hair. By we I mean, me, my mum, Sophia and her mum who is Aunt Jenny. Aunt Jen is not mean like Sophia, she is cool infact and she is a famous writer. I love her so much. Instead of going up to my room, I stayed downstairs in a bean bag siping cold juice and reading a novel. And then after finishing within the cold juice for some time, I began to feel a particular kind of way. Kind of dizzy. I hurried to the kitchen so that I could have a glass of water, that could make me feel better. “Are you okay, Louise?” Sophia said as I came in to the kitchen and hurried for some water. “I don’t feel so good.” I said. And then to be honest, I don’t really remember exactly the things that happened. Sophia and her friends helped me get upstairs and then we were all talking and laughing and playing together and Sophia said that she loved me as a cousin and that she wanted us to be best fiends forever. When I woke up in the morning with a blasting headache, I was not sure of what had happened. I was not sure of if I had dreamed all that. And then I reached for my phone and then I screamed so loudly!
