My Mate

The morning air bit at my face as I ran. Our runs had become more brisk for the cold was much more noticeable now. The autumn air now had the tinge of the winter bite. My run was suppose to help clear my head however, Kayleigh jumped excitingly. Her thrill of today buzzed in my head. Today was the day that our mate was supposed to be here.

I repeatedly had to mentally scolded her, reminding her that he tried to reject us the last time we saw him. The huff I received was extremely evident she disagreed with me. She was convinced that he would not do the same. I wish I could share her enthusiasm, but there was still that slight fear, deep in my stomach. I know he had chosen me to visit this winter, but that just gave him more opportunities to reject me. A tiny light of hope that maybe he wanted to come this winter to get to know me still shine around all that fear. The only way to find out, was to wait until he arrived.

I finished my jog kind of early today, I was definitely excited for his arrive. Jumping in the shower to clean up, I allowed a moment of the fact that my mate was coming to faint it. The excitement and nervousness over took me all at once. Then I allowed those feeling to wash down the drain as I turned off the water. Setting up, I quickly towel dried and headed to get dressed. This wasn’t a formal meeting, so I decided just some old worn jeans and a long sleeve low cut blouse will do. Smiling at myself in the mirror I ruffled my hair a little , and headed to the kitchen for food.

It took me a little while to remember how to get to the kitchen when I hit the first floor landing. We had decided to upgrade the layout of the pack. I was impressed that we were able to make 10 new homes and build a palace in the middle. I decided that this palace was going to be more of a direct place for the higher ups in the pack. The top floor would house me, my Betta and his mate, dot and her mate, and any visiting higher ranking pack members. The second floor houses all of my warriors in that are without a mate. The bottom floor was our common areas, like the kitchen, meeting hall, my study, etc. Obviously, all of my mated Warriors, and the other families, had their own homes within the complex of the pack. The additional houses would host, my mates pack. Along with any of the other empty rooms that were needed here in the palace. I’m not gonna lie, I kind of enjoyed living in this palace. It reminded me a little of my child at home.

One of my warriors at the border, mind linked me to inform me that cars were arriving. Throwing on a small throw to battle the chill outside, I headed out to the front steps. Michael and dot both with their mates joined me not long after. I squeezed, dots hand secretly for support , as the first car came into view. My meeting all his glory was the first step out of the vehicle. He was a stunning as the first day I saw it him, and Kayleigh was going nuts. His chestnut brown hair seemed to lay just touching his forehead, in a sexy bedhead way. His emerald eyes twinkled a little as the connected with mine. I shoved Kayleigh’s antics into the back of my mind as I stepped forward and extend in my hand.

Welcome to my pack. I have a roll of houses to house any of your pack members who are already made it if they wish to have the home. You and your highest officials will be housed inside my home. I also have some spare rooms on the second floor where my unmade warriors sleep that are also available for any of your pack members. My home is your home.

He smiled widely, thank you, Luna, alpha. As he extended his gratitude for me allowing his pack to stay my Warriors began to help his unload. Each of them taking someone and giving them a tour and a map of the grounds.

Shall I give you a tour? I asked him sheepishly.

I would enjoy that. The flash of his beautiful smile could melt me. Lucky for me my years of training to contain my emotions were in overdrive. This man was going to make me work to maintain my office status. I instructed one of my warriors to take his things up to his bedroom, why I swiftly strolled him off on to a tour.

I’ll try not to make it an extremely long one, I know your travel must’ve exhausted you.

That’s very kind of you, I’m sure over the course of the winter I’ll be able to see everything here.

I thought I was imagining the smirk that peered as he said everything. I smiled softly as I continue to tour. I began with the greenhouses, asking if at some point he could assign some of his people to assist. My omegas are good, but they deserve some rest as well. To my surprise he agreed to assign some to assist tomorrow, under the condition that one of mine were with them. This was to ensure they knew what they were doing. I than moved into the palace. Showing him each level of the palace, starting in the common areas. Explaining how each of the floors were being utilized. I ended the tour with his room, and told him that dinner would be in a few hours. Unfortunately, he had started to look a little exhausted, so I told him that if he was too tired to join for dinner that it would be put up for him. He thanked me as I took my leave.
