Darkness

1019 Words
I don’t know how long I swam in the abyss of darkness before I consciously became aware of movement around me. A cool wet something was placed up on my forehead, making me shiver slightly. I inwardly groaned as I felt temperature change from the rest of my body to my forehead. I could hear the worried whispers of someone as they hurried around, shoving what sound like a medicine bottles around looking for something. After a little while, it seemed they couldn’t find what they were looking for and I could hear them scurry off for it. I tried to reach out to my wolf, but all I got was pain whimpers back at me. Something was wrong, very wrong. My skin felt like it was on fire, it was all I could focus on. In a pleading effort to make it stop I call out the goddess, wishing for a cool spring that I can plunge in and relax. As I prayed for the sweet relief of water, a small voice, almost nonexistent, told me that I can call that water to me. Through the fire and sick haze, I recalled the sweet spring in the opening my mate took me to. I focused on the water that had been there that day in the crystal blue pond, with a gushing waterfall. I could still hear the small lapse of water across the rocks, scattered on the shoreline. I imagine myself submerging within the water feeling its coolness washed over my hot skin. As if I really had plunged within the icy, cold water, I felt the sweet release of my body temperature lowering. Signing in relief, I let the sweet darkness take me back and into slumber. As I drifted, the whimpers from my wolf are no longer rooted in my mind, we were both at peace. I don’t know how long I let the abyss take me this time, but as I woke, I stirred. No more fire, and I could feel my limbs for once. My eyes were too heavy to open, but my attempt to stirred the person in the room with me. Oh, you’re awake, kind of. They called for me because they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with you, but it seems you corrected your problem on your own. I can’t wait to officially meet you here but you must sleep now and I will come again when I know you’re awake. I felt a soft, warm, touch to my forehead, and could’ve sworn I saw the light from behind my lids. But I couldn’t question much before I drifted back off into the abyss. When I awoke this time, I reached out with my senses to see if anyone else was in the room. The room was empty at the moment, which made me wonder if I had even imagined that voice. I felt stronger this time, so I decided to try opening my eyes again. My eyes flutter softly as I attempted to open them, they felt like they were glued shut. This must have been do to the fact I was still a little too weak to truly open them all the way. I knew I had to try though, my pack depended on me. As a force, my eyes open, there was a small gasp, as dots little face appeared in my vision. Oh, thank goodness you’re OK Zamora. The worry was still evident in her voice, she hurried off, and I can still hear her small sign of relief as she scurried. I’m assuming to Michael. Now that my eyes were open, I was aware that we were back home, and I was in my bed. Which formed the question of how long I have been asleep as well as, what had I been sick from? As if reading my thoughts, Michael appeared. Alpha currently, We’re investigating what happened and how but it seems you could have been poison over the last weekend. Last weekend? I croak now. I’ve been asleep for a week.? Michael nods as an older man with spectacles came rushing into the room. He busies self, checking me over, requiring that I open my mouth, follow his finger, and check in my ears. My assumption that he was our new pack doctor was concluded when he introduced himself as Dr. Wilson Montgomery. He informed me that he hurried over when uncle Dev told him I was in need of assistance. It seems that while I slept, Michael and Dev have even introduced our two packs as one. The doctor advised me that I should probably rest, and definitely get some solid food. As always, Micheal was the first to make sure that those things were followed. I was not allowed to move without dots assistance as my legs went out from underneath me for the first day. Luckily, Michael brought my desk to me. He had ensured that the regimens had been followed to a tee. He also informed me, Ralph had been in contact a few times. Checking in with me to see when our arrangement could happen. Michael just needed my signature to be able to shift it off to him to let him know that his warriors could come over, I smiled widely at him, he was the best beta and alpha could ask for. After shuffling through the most important paperwork, my body began to feel fatigued. Sighing, I decided to set aside the rest of the paperwork and lay back down. I needed rest, my wolf needed rest, my whole body needed rest. And as my eyes cluttered closed, I could hear my wolf purring from contentment. We were finally mending, and we would find out how it happened. That was on the top of my to do list. Once I was fully recovered. I couldn’t help but wonder if one of the alphas at that dinner had done it for some reason. I also needed to find out if the voice I heard was real or not. But all of that could be for tomorrow.
