Zoey's Point of View "Where am I?" I heard a voice say. I opened my eyes and saw the young child moving about. "Hello there. How do you feel?" "Um, better. Hungry but where is my mom and dad?" she asked as she looked around with a worried look. "You are in my lair." "Why? Where is mom? I want my mom." She demanded. Suddenly, I could feel her fear and anxiety pulse through the air. "You are safe little one, but before I let you go back to your parents, we must talk and you must eat." "I want my mom." "I know. Can you sit and talk for a few minutes? It is important." The child began to cry and I had no clue what to do. How do you calm a child who is a freshly turned half bred who wants there mother? I had no clue, I am still a child myself. I decided to stand up and walk over to her but as I approached, she backed away. "Look. I am not going to harm you. Remember how you felt like your insides were twisting?" She wiped her tears and sniffled while nodding her head, causing me to smile. "Good. I took the pain away but had to bring you here." "Why?" she asked as she tried to calm herself. "Because you were changing and could hurt those you love and care for." "I wouldn't do that." "Oh but you would. You are a half wolf and half vampire. You can probably feel the hunger inside." I stared at her as she pondered my words. "I am hungry," She said as she put her hands on her rumbling stomach. "As I suspected. Now your diet has changed." "Because I have changed." "Correct." "What am I again?" She was trying to be brave and process everything. "Half vampire and half wolf." "But how? My mom and dad are both wolves?" I smiled. "Let's feed you first," I said as I held out my hand and began to summon one of the blood bags I had. Suddenly, the bag was in my hand, causing her red puffy eyes to widen. "Until you are older you can live off the blood bags. I will make sure you have some." "Blood bags?" "Yes, blood bags." I tore the top corner of the bag open and instantly the sweet aroma of blood filled the air. The child began to growl and her eyes turned bright red. I held it out to her and she snatched it from me and began to drink. "More," She demanded, and I summoned another one. Over the next thirty minutes, she drank several bags and I watched. Once she was done, we talked about what she was about to go through. We chatted for hours and she drank a couple more bags. Unfortunately, she would need to drink from blood bags until she became old enough to drink from a vein. A child does not have the will power to stop and could kill an innocent life. However, as she ages she will learn how to control her urges and learn to use her powers. Until then, she would need to be watched closely. "Time to see your family," I said to her as I stood up. "Will I hurt them?" She asked with fear in her eyes. "If you drink the bags you will be fine." "But how will I get the bags? What happens if I run out?" "Do not worry. I will take care of everything." "Ok. I am ready to see my mom and dad." "Good. When the stairs appear, go up and to the pack house. You are in my uncle's territory. They will help you find your mother." "Thank you," the child said as she hugged me. I opened my lair and watched her walk out. Xavier's Point of View The past three days have been hell. Even though Lily showed up several days ago, things have been tense. The council will not allow any of us to leave the moon forest pack and return home. I wouldn't leave even if I could, because I want my mate. The council, however, has sent for special doctors to do some testing on Lily and my father. They want to make sure they are not contaminated and are still pure wolves. However, I know Lily is not just a wolf. The day she returned, she came to me and told me what my mate had said to her. Apparently, I am to feed her. I am not sure how, but bags filled with blood show up in my room with Lily's name on them and throughout the day Lily asks for them. I have spent a whole day in my room waiting for Zoey to appear but she never does, the bags just appear. Suddenly, there was a knock on my door. I stood up off my bed and walked over to the door. When I opened it, it was my father. "Hey." "Well, don't sound so excited to see your old man," my dad said with a half smile on his face. "Lets see here. You told me you would disown me. The council said they would strip me of my rank if I took my mate. So excited to see you is the least emotion I would express right now." "Can I come in, I want to talk." He said and I moved so he could come. As I shut the door, I closed my eyes and silently prayed no bags of blood would show up and that Lily would be okay until he left. "What do you want to talk about?" I asked as I leaned up against the door and crossed my arms over my chest. "Your mom and I talked about what is happening and, depending on what the council decides to do, we would like to ask Zoey to come stay with us." My wolf perked up on hearing her name. "Why the change of heart?" I asked. "I haven't fully changed my mind but she went out of her way exposing who she was to everyone. That must mean something and your mother agrees. I want to get to know her and I want the pack to know her, but her fate is left up to the council." "I won't let them kill her dad." "I know, but I won't let you die for her either." "Then we are at odds." "For now we are not because she is not here. We do as the council asks and once they are off our backs we can talk. But if she shows up, we reevaluate the situation." I nodded and gave a grunt, acknowledging him. He stood up and walked towards me. As I moved from the door, he put his hand on my shoulder and said, "The Luna wants to have a picnic tomorrow to celebrate Lilly coming back to us. It's at noon tomorrow we must attend." "Of course." I watched as he left my room and let go of the breath I was holding.
