Rogue 1

Amanda flew out of the auditorium as quickly as she could. When she didn’t pick up on her new favourite ashwood, smoke and mint scent, she made her way as quickly as she could to the library. She could feel tears springing to her eyes but she held them in as she entered the library and found a quiet comfy chair in a corner by a window. She dropped her bag and slumped into the oversized arm chair. Forcing the tears in as she felt the heaviness of what had just happened. Shawn knew who she was. He made it very clear. He smelled of wolf but she didn’t think he was full wolf. Part of him was definitely human. But that didn’t matter. Her cover was already blown. Although she was wearing the pendent, it wasn’t working. She could feel the mate bond with Jake. She couldn’t deny that. She was terrified to take it off because she knew that with him she would be animalistic - feral. She was addicted to him already. His scent was intoxicating and the mere thought of the way he missed her made her core tighten and instantly drip in arousal. 3 days. It only took 3 days for her world to come crashing down. She didn’t know what to do next. Part of her knew she needed to tell her parents. But her mother had been so busy with helping Heather plan her Luna ceremony and her dads focus was on training and leading the kingdom. And he expected her to fail, which only infuriated her more. Amanda sighed. She pulled out her stats book knowing full well that she needed to continue to do her best work. This couldn’t all be for nothing. She was going to make the best of it before it was all taken from her. “Excuse me? Is this seat taken?” Amanda looked up to see a man she didn’t recognize. She shook her head and gestured for him to sit, as she carefully curled back up with her textbook (regretting wearing a skirt, although it had come in handy this morning). Reading and re reading the same paragraph 4 times, she still didn’t understand what this question was asking if her. She let out a tiny growl of frustration causing the man in the seat next to her to look up. Cocking his head to the side, he smiled. “Tough day?” He asked. She just nodded. He was attractive and also smelled like a wolf. But there was something off about his smell. It was almost ad if his scent was burnt. He had spiky blonde and brown hair and green eyes. A diamond stud in his one ear. Some stubble on his face as if he had forgotten to shave this morning. He was wearing a black leather jacket and tight blue jeans with black riding boots. “I’m Rocky,” he extended a hand. She glanced down at it, unsure if she wanted to meet another man of any type, however shook his hand in return. “Amanda,” she said with a smile. “What’s got you all growly?” He asked, gesturing towards her stats book. “Numbers?” She said with a shrug. “They aren’t really my thing,”. He chuckled gently. “Try tackling the problem from a different angle,” he suggested. Amanda sighed. She re read the question, breaking down the paragraph into parts and then realized the simplicity in what it was asking. She hit her forehead with her open palm as she wrote out her answer. “Thanks for the tip,” she spoke softly. “I was overthinking it.” She grinned at him. That was her biggest problem. She was always overthinking everything. Rocky flashed her a smile. “Sometimes the answer is right in front of you,” he told her. She nodded, turning back to her notes. She felt her phone go off. “Shopping when you get home?” Heather was asking. “Absolutely!” She answered back. There was another message from Jake. “Something urgent came up. I had to run out after class. I’m coming back. Be safe” She sighed. “Im good. And fine.” She wrote back. And a message from Kyle. “Princess. There are rogues in the school. I repeat - rogues in the school. Pay close attention to their scent. You’ll know a rogue. You’ve battled them before. Not sure if they’re looking for you but I need you to be safe. Let me know where you are or reopen the damn mind link,”. “I’m safe in the library,” she typed back. She could feel Rocky watching her carefully. She looked up at him and smiled. But as she took in his scent again, she recognized the smell. Just as Kyle had mentioned in her text. Feeling her heart sink slightly she looked st him more closely. There was nothing threatening about him. He wasn’t there to harm her, she was sure if it. “I know what you’re thinking,” Rocky told her softly. He was staring at her intently. Not checking her out like most men did but almost as if he was inspecting her. “I’m not interested in harming you,” he told her. “I know. I can tell,” she answered truthfully. She knew he was being honest. She could feel it in her gut. “When the time is right - we will be back for you. Our Queen,”. He bowed to her gently as he grabbed up his rucksack. Giving her one last look he flung the bag over his shoulder and disappeared out an emergency exit. Amanda stared at the exit he disappeared through. Trying to understand his words. What did he mean they would be back for her when the time was right? Did he know she was Queen of the North? Kyle flew into the library his eyes intent on Amanda as he quickly rushed over to her. “I can smell him,” he growled, his eyes darting around. Amanda giggled. He looked ridiculous with his nose going and she couldn’t help but laugh. “Kyle, sit down, she gestured to the chair. “You look like a damn wolf sniffing around here,” she whispered as he reluctantly sat. “There was a rogue here. But he was harmless. He didn’t want to hurt me. He helped me with my stats,” she gestured to her textbook. “Then called me their Queen and left,” she shrugged. “You were talking to him?” Kyle looked livid. Amanda nodded. “He was actually very lovely. A little rough around the edges but very kind and gentle,”. “Your dad is going to f*****g kill me. Rogues in the library? Is this for real?” He sighed into his hands. “You’re fine Kyle. I’m fine. He was kind. And if you’re all worried about me talking to rogues what are you going to do when I’m working on their rehabilitation?” She asked him casually, trying to maintain her anger. Kyle sighed. “I’m not sure if you know what you’re getting into Princess”, he told her. Amanda rolled her eyes. She could feel her frustration rising. Someone else she loved and cared for, thinking she was wasting her time. “I have class in just under an hour. Let’s go grab some pizza down in the cafeteria,” she suggested. “We will leave right after class. Deal?” She extended his hand. He shook it with a grin. “Ok but you’re buying”. He laughed at her, pulling her to her feet. Rolling her eyes she packed up her laptop and books. All she wished for was to be taken seriously. She was heartbroken that she wouldn’t see Jake anymore today. But knew they both had duties to uphold. “Come on - let’s go eat!” She grinned at Kyle, as they headed towards the cafeteria.
