“Oh, wow. Finally, my dear son remembered he has a mom,” Matilda uttered, seeing her son Damien after a month. They had a row weeks ago after she declared her son's upcoming engagement to the daughter of one of her closest friends.
“Nice to see you too, mom. I know it has been a while,” Damien said, sternly approaching his mom sunbathing next to their house pool, wearing her two-piece and sunglasses as she held her glass of orange juice.
His mom grew up in a well-known family before meeting her dad. She was a socialite and former Model before she had him. She was a good mom when she was sober. Damien remembered her not being like this; she had changed so much. She used to be a loving and devoted wife until his dad passed away. Even though his mom was such an annoying person, sometimes, he still loved her. He didn’t want her to interfere with his business.
“Did you finally make up your mind, son?”
“No, and please stop telling everyone on your circle of friends about that woman and me.” he exasperatedly voiced out.
“Why not? You will learn to love her son, just like I did with your father,” Matilda said. She was married by force by her wealthy family to her late husband, David. She objected too, they eventually found love after years together and after having Damien and Diane, but fate condemned her side.
David died from an accident. He went on a business trip to Italy and never came back. His car got lost in the ocean after losing control over it. His body was never found.
“Mom, please stop. It's my life. I know your and dad's story, but mine is different. I want to take a different path. You can't just match me to anyone,” Damien annoyingly objected. He knew his mom would never stop until she gets what she wants. And he would never get tired protesting about it.
“No, son. I want a great path for you. I knew she was the best for you. Why not give it a chance. You haven’t given yourself a chance to meet and know her, and she’s a lovely woman coming from a high-class family.”
“Mom, no. I met her quite a few times in some gatherings. I admit she’s beautiful, but Jastin isn’t my type.”
Mathilda glowered at her son. “Then, who's your type? Your ex-girlfriend who left you for her modeling career? The trying hard-actress whom you dated for a month and went after finding a rich old guy? The waitress at the bar who accused you of fathering her child? Or those sl*t women you bedded and left? Disgracing your name at your very own company?.” she went into detail on the news she had been receiving ever since her son started to become a manwhore
Damien sighed a deep breath. He once dated an actress whom he adored, but she left him after entangling a rich old guy. He wasn’t the CEO yet. The waitress his mom saying was one of his one-night stands. He was recently appointed as the CEO when she showed up after almost a year of their one-night affair and told him he was the father of her child. He would love to own the kid, but he was advised by his God-dad Daniel to do the DNA testing. In the end, the result was crystal clear. He wasn’t the father—a hundred and one percent. And the ladies, they just wanted a piece of him. Once he was done with them, he never looked back unless it was for no-string-attached sweaty nights.
“Whatever, son, time will come. You will have to agree with me.” Matilda threatened as she stood up from the chair, getting her bathrobe to cover her ageless body.
Damien looked at his mom’s eyes. “I came here to beg you to stop. Again, Stop interfering with my life,” Damien said, storming out, leaving his mom in surprise.
He was about to hop in his car when someone called him.
“Damien!” it was Diane calling him from the staircase.
Damien turned around and faced her.
“Why you didn’t tell me you're coming? Lina just told me you are here,” Diane excitedly blurted.
“Hi to you too, my dearest sister,” Damien said, hugging and kissing her forehead.
“It’s been a while. I miss you.” Diane mumbled, missing the presence of her brother in the house. It had been a month since he never came home.
He chuckled, “Likewise, I was being kept in the office. Don’t worry. I will find time to spend with you,” Damien said, promising his dearest sister. He hasn’t been home and currently staying in his loft.
“Really?”
He nodded. “I promise.”
“Did mom ask you the impossible again?” Diane asked. Their mom was bragging to her friends that Damien was getting married soon. She was pressuring the s**t out of Damien, her poor dear brother.
“Yes, I just came to give her some words a while ago. Like always, to stop messing with my life.”
“Good, what did she say?”
“You know her; she stood firm in her words. I'm sorry, you won't be able to see me around here until she changes her mind. Mom should stop seriously.” He stated, his mom was getting on his nerves.
“Yeah, I agree. She was also bugging me about college. Big bro, I'm sorry, my head isn’t about business.” Diane said sadly, aside from her brother. Their mom was also meddling about her degree choice. She always wanted to become a painter, but her mom wanted her to take a business management course so she could help her brother. She would love to help Damien in any other way, but her heart wasn’t in the corporate world.
Damien brushed Diane’s hair, “Just go for the life you wanted to take in. I will support you, Yan.” He sincerely said. He knew his life was meant for business and handling the company. Diane could do her own thing if she wanted to become a painter or artist, so be it. What worst could happen?.
“Love you, big bro, I know you understand, me,” Diane said, hugging her brother. The only support she has right now.
“Love you, sis, see you soon,” Damien said, breaking the hug before getting in his car.

Damien decided to stroll around the park to ease his mind. It was Sunday and supposed to be a rest day, but he couldn't rest. With what his mom was doing in his life and the company’s finance issue, Damien couldn’t even close his eyes to sleep. Strolling around gave him temporary peace of mind, so he decided to walk inside the mall, the company-owned and technically he owned.
He was wandering around when he noticed the woman that had been running inside his head for a month. ‘Mikaela.’
She was inside the appliances shop and currently listening intently to the talking salesman. She was nodding, frowning, and smiling as the guy talked to her. He could see from afar that she was showing interest in buying something for the kitchen. Damien bemusingly stared at her spellbinding beauty. A pang of jealousy hit him, knowing this woman already belonged to someone else.
Damien controlled himself not to go after her since the night she left him abruptly at the party a month ago. He thought it as a sign she had no interest in him.
He wanted to shrug it off and walk away, but Damien unknowingly found himself interrupting the talking salesman.
“Excuse me,” he said to the sales guy. He noticed Mikaela looked at him in her big bright eyes, maybe trying to remember who he was.
“Do you have another brand of this blender?” he didn’t know what came into his smart head why he picked up a f*****g blender.
“Do you have any particular in mind, sir?” the salesman asked sweetly.
“Ahh, No. I wanted to buy the same blender my friend had in his house, I broke it, and I wanted to change it with the same brand,” he lied. He could feel Mikaela was watching and observing him.
“Yes, we do. Wait for a second,” the guy’s said, then he looked back at Mikaela.
“Have you make up your mind, Maám?”
Andy nodded, “Yes, I'll buy it,” she spoke, forgetting her thoughts about Daniel. Why is he buying a f*****g blender?
“I think I’ll just buy this brand,” Damien said abruptly. He wanted to spend more time with her, even though she might not remember him.
The salesman's eyes shined. Hitting two significant sales in a day was a jackpot.
“Wait for me at the counter, maám and sir.” He said to both of them.
Together Andy and Damien walked towards the waiting area for their purchase.
“So you broke your friend’s blender, huh?” she scrutinizingly queried to the man next to her, breaking the silence between them. Andy knew he was lying. A bossy man like him with a secretary won't buy a thing personally, let alone a blender to replace a broken one.
They both sat down on the chair near the counter.
“Yes, I am currently staying at his place, I accidentally dropped it, and he always needed it every after his workout schedule.” He lied again. He had no real friends except his cousin, who was on the other side of the world.
Andy just nodded. Maybe he was telling her the truth. For all she cares. She thought.
“Daniel, right?” Andy checked his name. She won’t forget that name ever.
He nodded. “Mikaela,” he said.
Andy chuckled. She was not used to be called by her second name. She only used that name in her drunken state or whenever she goes to the club for a party.
“Did I say something funny?” Damien asked puzzlingly.
“No, No. I just remembered something,” Andy replied, biting her inner lip.
“Ma’am, Your purchase is ready,” the salesman said to Andy, interrupting their talk. She stood up and went straight to the counter to pay for her thing, her dream dishwasher. She and Mickey dreamed of having that one since both of them loved cooking, they always ended messing up their kitchen. Having a dishwasher would help them to get their job done efficiently.
Damien followed Andy at the cashier counter and paid his dues as well. He spotted the big box waiting in a trolley outside the entrance of the shop.
“Do you need help with that?” Damien asked, pointing at the box.
She smiled at him showing her pearly whites, “No, thank you. I can manage. Nice to see you again, Daniel,” Andy said, offering her hand to shake. Damien took and shook it.
“Nice meeting you again, Mikaela,” he said, grinning widely. He didn’t know what was happening to him, but he was just happy seeing her bright smile.
Andy’s heart went summersault upon touching Daniel’s hand. There was a strange feeling boiling inside her that she somehow couldn’t put her hands on.
Andy left together with her big box. Mickey messaged her that he was waiting outside to pick her up and the stuff. Mickey got out of the car soon as he saw Andy pushing her cart.
“Hey!” Mickey said, hugging and kissing Andy’s cheek.
“Here’s our dream Mickey,” Andy excitedly shrieked.
“I know! That’s why I love you, sis,” He gleefully said before picking the item and putting it in the car boot. Both of them got inside the car and drove away.
Damien saw everything. Another wave of jealousy ate him. He wanted her, but someone had already owned her heart. Damien left the place wretched but not without his brand-new f*****g blender.
