16. Convoy

I wake up the next morning and sit straight up. I'm in Dipaks office again. Dipak, Gunner, and Tre are all with me. Everyone has their own couch this time. They're all sleeping.

I sit here, trying to remember how I got here.

Dipak peeks at me with his open eye. "What are you doing, princess?"

"Trying to remember why I'm here and why my gloves are on inside out."

They all laugh.

"Where is my veil? What is happening?" I find the veil wrapped up in the blanket. "What happened? Why? That's all. Why? and what?"

"You decided to get drunk with your mom and Tre's mom last night, princess." Gunner puts on his shoes.

"Oh I remember now." I fix my gloves. "That was fun."

I sit back. "You got any blood in here Dipak?"

"Top drawer on the left. Get us each a cup please."

"Sure." I get them passed them out. Then I drink mine quickly. "That's better."

"PRINCESS!" Someone is yelling in the hallway.

I throw the veil over my head. "IN HERE!"

Elkie flies in with tears all over her face. "Nadine or Nadia, whatever it is today. A convoy fell off a cliff. There's at least 40 injured. They are all over the cliff. We need help now."

Dipak jumps up. "You got all of us."

"Nadine." She breaks down sobbing.

I put my arms around her. "What is it Elkie?"

"Doctor Cruor was on it."

"Is he here?"

"He's on the cliff somewhere?"

"Point in the direction."

She point out the window.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes." More sobbing.

"Get these guys there." I look at the guys. "Bring as much blood as you can. Elkie, get tubes and the antidote kit. And lots of gloves for me." I grab a chair and knock out the window.

"What are you doing princess?" Dipak stares at me.

"Getting there faster."

I jump out the window and turn into a dragon mid drop. Really glad that worked. Did not think it threw fully, or even a little bit. I fly in the direction she pointed. This is amazing. It's beautiful up here. After a couple of minutes, I spot the cliff and the wreckage. It is a mess. Vitchen and Dorseti on the ground by a cart. I land right beside them.

Dorseti is crying and Vitchen looks like she is barely holding on. "Help is coming. What are you working on now?"

"We don't know." Vitchen starts crying.

"Ok. Start putting those needing help in a row down here on the ground. Maybe Elkie will bring the cards. I forgot to tell her that. Just get to the ones you can easily."

They start lining them up right away.

I check a couple. They seem to only need blood drips for now.

Tre, Dipak, Gunner, Dracul, Frode, dad, Elkie, Asa, mom, Mary and about 10 guards show up a minute later. Elkie hands me the cards. "Thank you."

I put my hand out for them to stay still. "Vitchen Dorseti, Get over here."

They come running and stand with the others.

"EVERYONE. I NEED THESE VAMPIRES OFF THIS CLIFF. LINE THEM UP DOWN HERE. DO NOT PUT YOURSELVES IN DANGER. YOU WILL JUST BE SOMEONE ELSE I HAVE TO SAVE. AND WATCH THAT CARRIAGE. IT IS ABOUT TO FALL, STAY OUT FROM UNDER IT. THESE ARE THE CARDS THAT SIGNAL HOW BAD A PERSON NEEDS ME. GREEN MEANS THEY WILL BE OK, YELLOW MEANS HELP CAN WAIT A BIT, RED MEANS HELP NOW. BLACK IS DEAD. I CAN NOT FIX DEAD. MOST IMPORTANTLY KEEP YOURSELVES SAFE. GO."

They all take off at the same time pulling vampires down. They work together really well. The card situation is a bit of a mess but they are doing the best they can.

I'm cleaning out people and getting them carded as fast as I can. I work on so many. I've lost count. We've only lost 2 so far, but there are bodies everywhere.

I pull a piece of wood out of a man's chest. Then I pull his chest apart. I wiggle my hand in and check his heart. I glance up and Dipak and Tre are both standing still staring at me with my arm in this man's chest. "Keep going you 2." I motion for Dorseti. "Black card this one."

The next man, I pull his stomach open to check the damage the fall did to it. I reach in to check the heart and then run my hand through his stomach checking for rocks.

"Princess they are almost all down. Your dad has to fly up and get the last couple."

"Thank you Dipak give me a second to think."

I take a second in the shade and Tre tackles me. He's lands right on top of me. Then the carriage crashes down right where I was.

"I'm sorry. Are you ok?"

"I'm fine thank you."

He helps me up then turns to walk away.

"Wait please. Can you block me so I can change my gloves?"

"Yes ma'am." I smile at him and his eyes are getting dark.

I change the gloves quickly. "Really here? How? I'm covered in everything."

He laughs. "Yea, I would kiss you but I've decided against it."

I start laughing too.

I go back out to the center of the ground and pull everyone back in.

"YOU ARE ALL DOING GREAT. NOW I NEED MARY AND VITCHEN TO GO BACK TO THE MEDICAL AREA. YOU WILL SET UP DRIPS FOR THOSE COMING IN. EVERYONE ELSE. IF SOMEONE HAS BEEN CHANGED TO A GREEN OR YELLOW CARD THEY NEED TRANSPORTED NOW. I WILL FINISH UP WITH RED CARDS AND THEN GO BACK MYSELF. ALSO THERE ARE A LOT OF VAMPIRES HERE. WE MAY NEED EXTRA BEDS. GUARDS PLEASE GET THOSE IF WE RUN OUT."

Elkie runs up to me. "Have you seen Dr. Cruor yet?"

"No Elkie, I haven't. There's still a couple up there that didn't fall far though. My dad is getting them."

She wipes a tear off her cheek.

"Stay strong Elkie. We got this."

"GUYS WE STILL HAVE PEOPLE MISSING. WILL SOMEONE PLEASE RUN A FINAL SWEEP OF THE AREA?"

Dipak puts his sword up. "GUARDS WE ARE DOING A FULL SWEEP OF THE AREA. WALK WITH 10 PACES BETWEEN YOU."

Tre checks the carriage that fell. "IN HERE."

Elkie runs over to him. "AAAAHHHHHHHHHH." She drops to the ground unconscious. Guess they found the doctor.
