26. Swords And Baby Boots

I try to stretch and hit the wall. I open my eyes and the morning sun is coming in. Mary is getting the water ready.
"What happened?"
"Tre carried you to bed. How was your evening with him?"
I smile so big. "He took me to a human village. It was a festival with flowers and music and food. We danced for so long. It was amazing Mary. Then we came back and had a picnic by the water. We watched the sun set. He was so perfect."
"That does sound amazing." My mom and Asa walk in. "And you're not crying into a bowl this morning. Things are looking up."
Asa laughs. "We wanted to check on you and ask if you had fun. You seem much better than yesterday, princess."
"I feel better."
Mom says, "We'll let you get up. Tre's already been here twice. I'm sure he'll be coming back any time. I don't know what he wants."
Mary helps me like always and I barely sit down for breakfast when there is a knock at the door.
My mom yells from somewhere in the house. "IF THAT'S NOT TRE, I'LL EAT MY SHOE."
Tre comes in the dining room a couple minutes later smiling.
"Come eat with me." I get him a plate of food. "Why are you here so early? And it sounds like you've been here a few times."
"I need to know that we're ok princess. I missed you so much over the last couple days. I never want you to feel like a child again. If I ever make you feel bad for any reason, punch me in the face please. Tell me I'm being dumb. I love you so much. It's horrible when we're not together. I never want to fight again."
I kiss him. I honestly don't know how long he would keep talking if I didn't. He finally relaxes. Then I lean in and kiss the marking spot on his neck. "Mine."
His eyes go pitch black. That happened fast.
"Tre they are coming hide your eyes."
He pretends to pick something up. When he sits back up, his eyes are clear.
"You made those normal fast."
"That's my mom. Easy to make the dark eyes go away when I think about her." He fixes the veil.
I start laughing as the moms come in.
"You 2 are so cute this morning. Aurelia, we should all go see the baby again."
"Good idea. Hurry up and eat you 2."
A few minutes later, they are dragging us out.
"You going to be in the medical area all day again?"
"Most likely. Going to have a lot of discharges again today. I'll probably be busy."
"Want to have lunch with me?" He squeezes me around the waist.
"Of course. Can you bring it to my office though? I am crazy behind on paperwork from all this mess."
"Yes ma'am." He kisses my cheek.
I like this new Tre.
My dad is in with Frode and Thora when we get there. "I put Dipak back in his office. His attitude seems to have calmed down. But if you need him just yell."
"I'm sure we'll be fine for now daddy, but thank you." Tre puts his arm around my hip and squeezes. "He did get quite good around here though. He picked a lot of medical information up. Should anything big happen again, I will request his assistance."
Tre whispers "Thank you" in my ear.
"And I will approve that request, princess."
"Actually daddy, I have an idea."
"What's that?"
"I would like all of your advisors to spend 2 days training here in the medical area. They could learn where everything is. How to treat minor stuff. How to use antidotes. How to check wounds. The cards. Setting blood drips. Things like that. But you have some strong and smart men working for you. And I know they all help when they can in emergencies. It would help if they all had some better basic knowledge."
I see my mom poke Frode and point to me.
"I like it princess. I'll bring it up to them. I'm sure they will agree."
Frode hands me the baby. "That is a good idea, princess."
I feel Tre's arm getting tighter on my waist. He reaches over with his other hand and starts playing with her hair. His eyes are pitch black again. I smile as he kisses me on the cheek. "I want a couple of these Tre."
"I'll give you as many as you want, baby."
My dad turns red. "Ok, that's enough, you 2. You go over there. To young for baby talk."
Tre sits down with Ana, his eyes clear up and he touches her little hair. He looks so good with a baby. He's so gentle with her. I can't help but watch him.
He glances at me and smiles.
"Princess stop looking at him." My dad is getting redder.
My mom busts out laughing. "Just go to work. Let them plan my future grandchildren without you."
Asa is all smiles. "Grandbabies!"
"THEY ARE TO YOUNG AURELIA!"
My mom shakes her head. "They are planning them. Not making them. Go to work. I got this."
Dad glares at Tre. "I'll be chasing you around with Dipak's sword next son."
"No babies yet sir."
"Not for a long time."
"Not for a long time sir."
Just to start another issue and get off of this one. "Tre, how do we make babies?"
Tre stares at Ana, "Um."
Daddy turns purple. "SON SO HELP ME"
Frode busts out laughing. "I'll walk him to work. Tre you may want to do those 2 days' training in the medical center starting now."
"OH NO HE'S NOT. HE'S COMING TOO. WE ARE NOT LEAVING HIM WITH MY PRINCESS."
Frode pushes dad out the door. "Come on, let's go to work for a bit. They are fine. Both moms are in the building. Those 2 know everything. Nothing will happen."
As soon as the door shuts me, mom, Asa, and Thora start laughing.
Tre shakes his head. "I didn't think it was that funny."
"I've never seen him purple before." We all laugh so hard, even Tre.
After a few minutes of laughter, "This has been fun but I need to do rounds and start in on the discharges. Were you still planning on bringing lunch?"
"If your dad doesn't kill me or have me tied down somewhere, I will bring you lunch." He kisses my hand.
"I will see you then." I kiss him on the cheek and play with the babies fingers. "I will see you soon, Hypatia." Momma and Asa are making aww noises. "You 2 are horrible."
Asa wipes her eyes. "Grandbabies."
My mom smiles with her hand on her heart.
I kiss Tre on the head. "Good luck with those 2."
"Between those 2 and your dad, I'll be dodging swords and baby boots all day."
"Bob and weave a lot. You'll be fine." I pat him on the shoulder and shake my head as I head to my office.
