I clang to Damon’s motionless body as Dad drove us to Dr Applesteine’s Institute after Damon had fainted. Candace, Elijah, and Richard had tried all they could to wake him, but everything failed. The bandage on the burn had seared away. And his pulse was weak. Dad and I couldn’t fix this. The institute was our last hope. The others had decided to wait at my apartment until we had answers to Damon’s condition. Elijah couldn’t risk coming with us without killing the doctor himself. And Richard had decided to stay with his brother for a while before he returned to his own home.
