Chapter 4

1812 Words
Kaia Celene I don't know where I'm going. I can't even feel my legs moving. My tears are freely flowing like there's no end and I can still hear his voice clearly in my head. "Live for me." those words keep on echoing in my head and it’s almost like, it’s the only thing I could hear. I bit my lower lip hard; so hard that I can already taste my own blood. "Well well well, look what we have here boys." out of nowhere three male rogues started to surround me. I didn't notice them but now my senses are starting to kick in. I can see l**t in their eyes. I started to panic. I tried to run but they caught me and pinned me to the ground. I tried to shake them away from me but I don't have the strength to. They rip my clothes off and all I can do is cry. I tried to scream for help but no one came. The guy with a dark hair is now on top of me half n***d. My body is starting to get numb and my vision starting to get blur. I can feel his breath on my neck until I let myself fall into darkness.   ~~~~~ I opened my eyes and saw a white ceiling. I almost panicked when I find the place unfamiliar until all the events from yesterday came to mind. Looking around I realized I’m in the infirmary. This pack must be quite big for them to have such enormous infirmary. My cuts and wounds are completely healed but I had quite the night because of that Delta mutt. ‘Don’t forget the fact that you got punch by your mate.'’ I snorted when I heard what my wolf Leah said. He just got lucky. Mate huh? Why now? I can hear faint footsteps outside the door until it gets louder and louder and the scent of minty chocolate is getting stronger. Mate. 'Our mate is here.' said Leah. I know Leah doesn't like the idea of our mate getting closer and closer. That would only make the mate bond grow stronger. The door suddenly burst open revealing our mate. He looked at me showing no emotion at all.  I looked at him with the same expression because in all honesty, I am not even a bit thrilled that I have a mate. He stood there about more than six foot in height, wearing a white v-neck shirt, a tan skin, forest green eyes, and I can tell that he’s about twenty six, twenty seven years old. His strong aura tells me that he is the Alpha of this pack. "I can see you're all better." he said in a cold tone. "Obviously.” I simply answered not wanting to make any conversation but something’s bothering me. "Are you the king of the werewolves?" I asked voicing out my inner thoughts. “Yes I am.” He answered full of pride. Interesting. "I'll send someone to bring you some clothes after that I want to talk to you in my office." without even waiting for my reply he walked out of the room leaving me. I can’t wait to get out of this place. Tonight is the night of the full moon and as I looked through the window, it’s already starting to get dark. I need to find my way out of here. I stood up from my bed and looked over the window. I can’t help but snort at the number of guards patrolling around the castle perimeter. My escape plan was interrupted by a soft knock on the door. Using my lighting speed, I sat back to my bed and waited for the person to enter. A girl wearing a floral dress came in. She has a shiny black hair that falls over her shoulder; my guess is she’s probably nineteen – twenty years old? “Hi. The King asked me to give you this?” she handed me the clothes shyly and I just gave her a small smile. I went in to the bathroom and changed into the clothes she gave. I took the clothes out of the shopping bag, raising my left eyebrow as I saw the signature dress and shoes inside. A snort escaped my mouth. Seriously? Is he trying to show off his riches? Once I was done I got out from the restroom and saw the same girl standing on the same spot. “Did you like the clothes? The King asked me to buy those clothes for you but I don’t know your fashion preference so I just followed my instincts.” Again I just smiled at her but this time I meant it. I appreciate her effort of buying and choosing the clothes for me not that I needed it but I am not the type to ignore one’s efforts. “Thank you for the clothes. I like it. It’s not really my style but it’s better than nothing. Again thank you…….” “Irene. My name is Irene Anderson.” she held her hand for me to shake and I accepted them. But when I accepted her hand, a sudden connection was formed. I pretended not to notice and gave her a smile. “The King also asked me to bring you to his office. I’ll lead the way for you.” said Irene. I pretended to be friendly with her but at the back of my mind I know I can’t trust this b***h. Touching her hand was a form to connect with me. I don’t know why she wanted to connect with me but I will never let her succeed. She led me to the upper floor of the castle but as we moved along I can feel something or someone knocking on my walls as if trying to read my mind. I stopped my tracks and this seems to catch Irene’s attention who’s walking a bit ahead of me. “Stop doing that.” I gritted my teeth and gave her a glare. “What are you talking about?” she asked innocently. I walked closer to her with a deadly look on my face. I saw fear started to pool around her eyes as she took a step back. “I know what you’re trying to do Irene and if you continue doing this, I might end up killing you. Believe me I would. I just killed a human boy yesterday.” her fear grows even more and tears started to pool around her eyes. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to. The King has asked me to read your mind so he could learn things about what and who you are. I swear I was against it but I just can’t defy his orders. I’m sorry truly I am. Please spare me.” she pleaded. A smirk formed my lips as I find sincerity in her eyes. “It’s fine. I know you were just following orders. Sorry for threatening you but just so you know, I meant it. My name’s Kaia, I can either be your enemy or your friend but the latter would be better. You don’t want me as an enemy; trust me.” “We can be friends but I value trust and I don’t tolerate betrayal.” I continued. Her fear slowly sub sides and a strong willed woman stood in front of me. “I want to be your friend Kaia and I promise my loyalty to you. I will be your accomplice from here on now till the day of my death. This I vow in the name of the ancestors of my ancestors, the guardians of the elements and the Moon Goddess herself.” Her words had me frowning. I heard those words before; Alexia told me the exact same words. But that’s not possible; Alexia’s a witch unless Irene is a---- “I, Irene Miranda Anderson, half werewolf half witch, hereby give my life and soul to my accomplice, my master.” She rested her hand on her chest and bowed her head to me. She just confirmed my theory. Like I thought she is a hybrid. Vows and promises are considered sacred to witches and warlocks. Breaking a promise or a vow to a witch is like having a death wish. But once you get a loyal witch on your side, you can always count on them. “Before I accept your vow, I want to ask you a question. Did you know that you can’t vow to another master if you already vowed to one?” understanding what I meant Irene answered, “I never vowed my loyalty to the werewolf king. This is actually my first time and I’m a bit nervous.” She admitted shyly. “Why are you giving me your loyalty? You barely know me; in fact you just met me.” I looked into her eyes intently. She met my gaze and answered, “I dreamt about you and you may not remember but you saved me.” “I saw you in my dreams a couple of nights ago. I was making a vow to you and I saw you sitting on the throne.”  I raised my eyebrow; I can’t remember saving anyone aside from Alexia. “About me saving you, I don’t think you got the right person but I accept your vow and hereby be your master for life but once betrayed, you will owe me your life.” I held my hand as a gesture that I accept her vow and when she accepted it, a thread of light appeared tying our hands together. I can already feel our bond and Irene smiled as she did too. “Now take me to my mate. I want to get out of here as soon as I can. You are free to come with me if you want.” A glint of happiness appeared on her eyes as the idea of getting out of the kingdom came to her mind. Only a blind person can’t see that. “I want to come with you but I’ll take you to the King first.” I smiled and we continued to walk to my mate’s office. “What’s the King’s name?” I asked. “Ashton Black.”
