Kaia Celene
I woke up as the sun seeps through my window curtains but that’s not the only reason why I opened my eyes. I can feel my wolf Leah getting restless again.
I tried to reach her but for some reason she’s not talking to me; she keeps blocking me out. Sighing I got up from bed and went into the bathroom, took a shower and readied myself for school.
When I reached the dining, I saw Alexia on the phone. I’m not the type to eavesdrop but given that I’m a werewolf, hearing things at a wide range is normal.
“Of course we’ll be there. Kaia will be thrilled to know this. Alright see yah.” A frown slowly formed on my forehead. What is this girl up to this time? She’s bouncing like a kid as she approaches the table with a big smile on her face.
“What’s up? What is this thing I’ll be so thrilled about?” I asked the moment she sat on the opposite side of the table.
“Well, this afternoon Shane is having a party at the lake. All seniors are invited and we are going to have fun.” She said way too enthusiastically for my liking. Humans and their love for parties never gets old.
“Yey! Shane’s party, I’m so thrilled.” Alexia rolled her eyes at my sarcasm.
“What’s wrong with you? Jeremy will be there.” Oh yes. She had a thing for this human football player.
“Fine, I’ll go.” Alexia smiled from ear to ear and she even blew me a kiss.
We had a quick breakfast then we’re off to school. As we neared the school, my wolf’s getting more restless than ever.
‘Leah what the hell’s wrong with you?’ I asked her but instead of answering me, she just blocked me out.
Arriving at the school parking lot I can already smell the scent of werewolves. I parked the car to my usual spot and went out.
“I can sense them at a long distance.” Alexia whispered.
I gave Alexia a quick glance and we walked towards our classes. The moment we entered the building, I saw a lot of mutts lingering around. As we walked down the corridors, all eyes are on us. Everyone had this disgusted look on their faces, some held fear, some held curiosity and some held anger and hatred.
“What’s their problem? Tsk.” Alexia said slightly annoyed.
“Ignore them.” I whispered but I know the werewolves heard it. We continued to walk along the corridor until Shane showed up.
“Morning beautiful. We have a lot transfer students today. I heard that their previous school was burned down so as solution, their director decided to send them all here.” I just raised my eyebrow at the information but I don’t give a s**t about their pretty little lies.
I ignored Shane’s presence and glanced at Alexia who’s silently cursing the werewolves for all their staring. And as for Shane, I am not in the mood to play with this human so it’s better to avoid him.
“Let’s go Alexia.” I walked passed Shane but then I suddenly bumped into someone.
“Oh I’m sorry.” She said bowing her head a couple of times. Tsk. Shewolf. I just gave her a cold look and went on.
“Hey. Why are you apologising to her? She’s a rogue. If someone has to apologize it has to be her. She’s a parasite; she has no place here.” I heard one of the mutts say probably to the girl I bumped into. Say whatever you mutts want, just don’t get on my bad side or I’ll show you hell.
“Why that little-----“ Alexia was about to turn around but I grabbed her arm making her look at me.
“Let them be. We already expected this.” giving them one last glare Alexia rolled her eyes and walked away. Could this day get any worse?
~~~~~~~
The day went on in a flash. Of course the new students had this special class every afternoon as a catch up lesson. Psh. Learning the history of werewolves is a catch up lesson?
Alexia and I was advised to join but I can’t stand those mutts staring and giving us dirty looks. I might end up ripping their eyes out of their sockets.
Alexia and I skipped that special class and went straight to Shane’s party. It’s already getting dark as we arrived. I saw a bunch of humans swimming by the lake, some are getting wasted and making out here and there. I saw Shane standing by his truck until his eyes landed to us; he smiled and ran his way to us.
“I thought you’re not coming. I was about to go and get you myself.”
“Oh we wouldn’t miss the party. Have you seen Jeremy?” asked Alexia. Shane pointed Jeremy’s direction and Alexia excitedly walked over to him leaving me with this human.
“Is there something wrong babe? Did I do anything to upset you? You were ignoring me this morning.” I gave him a forced smile and said, “Oh sorry. Mood swings. I had my period so… you understand.”
“Of course I do. Can I get you a drink?” I nodded my head in response.
I saw Alexia and Jeremy whispering to each other and it seems like she’s having way too much fun.
“Here you go.” Shane handed me a bottle of beer and I accepted it.
“Can we go somewhere more private there’s something I want to tell you.” I let out a long sigh and nodded my head. I am not in the mood for this party but I’ll just play along with this human to kill some time. I’m sure Alexia doesn’t feel like going home early.
Shane and I walked into the forest, getting farther away from the party. The music’s getting fainter as we moved deeper into the forest.
The moment Shane stopped walking he turned around and face me. His hands cupped my face and started giving kisses on my cheek down to my neck. I don’t like this.
“Shane stop.” I pushed him away and he took a step back.
“What’s wrong Kaia? I thought you loved me.” I stepped back and a frown started to form on my forehead.
I snorted and said, “I don’t love you and I never even said I liked you. Yes we had a fun time together but that was it. We didn’t even sleep together and you act like this?”
This is irritating. I looked at the bottle of beer in my hand and drank everything down.
“Look Shane, you’re my friend and I care for you but I can’t give you more than that.” I turned around to leave him but I suddenly felt a slight burning pain on my chest.
‘Wolfsbane; that treacherous little human.’ Leah growled. I gritted my teeth and turned to face a grinning Shane.
“Kaia, I love you I really do. I know you’re a werewolf; my mother is a werewolf too but I didn’t inherit her gene instead, my brother did. But once my uncle transfers my brother’s wolf to me, I will be your mate. I can feel it. I know I am your mate.” I can’t believe what I’m hearing. Nobody can turn a human into a werewolf.
“So what does it had to do with me?” I asked.
“You have to come with me. I will take you to my uncle’s lab and have you bonded with me so we can be mates and we can be together forever.” Oh he is crazy. And his uncle is crazy. He took something from his pocket and it turned out to be a silver handcuff. Really?
He walked closer to me and I growled. I shifted into my wolf making him fell on the ground wide-eyed.
“H-how can this be? I put enough wolfsbane on your drink to keep your wolf away for days.” I grinned and took a step closer to him. He stumbled back in fear.
“Unfortunately wolfsbane doesn’t affect me. You should have known better than to betray me Shane.” I attacked him and ripped his body limb by limb. My fur is stained with Shane’s blood but it made me feel good. It’s been so long since I killed someone in my wolf form.
I inhaled the air and smelled humans coming.
‘Hunters. He had connection with the hunters.’ Said Leah.
‘They’re coming; five of them. Let me take control.’ And I let her. My werewolf form is stronger if Leah takes control and I am stronger if she takes control over my body; without her I’m no different to a mere human.
Leah waited for the hunters to arrive and when they were a few meters away, they started shooting at us. We dodge the bullets and found the hunters behind the trees. Leah clawed their necks killing everyone in a flash.
Blood splattered around the forest; the blood of the fallen hunters.
“Tom? What happened? Answer us.”
I saw a blinking light on the dead hunter’s jacket pocket. I walked closer to it and crushed it using my paws. As the wind hits our nose we sensed more of them coming. Reinforcements. Fifty of them.
I ran away from the place as they started shooting silver bullets. I have to outrun them. I started running, dodging the bullets at the same time dodging the trees that gets in my way. But one of them was able to scratch me on my shoulder.
I continued to run as far as I can until the shooting stopped. I inhaled the air and dug my paws deeper into the ground feeling the vibrations.
‘We lost them.’ Leah whispered. Tomorrow is the full moon and all those fighting and running drained our energy.
‘You should rest Leah.’ Leah slowly nodded her head and I shifted into my human form. I touched the wound on my shoulder and hissed as I felt small bits of silver in it.
“I need to wash them.” I looked around the area and I can hear the sound of a flowing water not far from where I was standing. I slowly walked over to the river not giving s**t about being n***d. Once I reached the river I dipped my body and let the cold water wash away the dirt and the blood visible on my body.
The moment my wound was thoroughly cleaned and the small bits of silver was removed, slowly it healed; leaving no trace of wound at all.
I looked around the area and saw a bunch of humans having camping. Slowly without making any sound I walked closer to them and took one of their bags hoping to find something to wear.
Fortunately I found a new pair of T-shirt and a pair of shorts. There’s also a new set of underwear. The tags are still there. Hmmm. They must be quite rich considering the prices of these clothes are undeniably at high cost. Luckily, I have taken a woman’s bag.
I wore the clothes and returned the bag to them sneakily. I walked aimlessly not caring where my feet bring me as long as I get farther away from those humans.
Those hunters must be looking for me so it’s not safe for me to go back just yet. I know Alexia can handle herself and I know she can sort things out if anything goes out of hand. Right now I have to focus on the night of the full moon.
When I feel like I was far enough I rested by the tree and relaxed my body. I let out a long sigh. The least I have to do is regain my strength and after two or three days I’ll go home. Slowly my eyes felt heavy, the last thing I knew I was already fast asleep.
~~~~~~
I woke up as I hear noises around me and it’s cold too. I slowly opened my eyes only to be met by three wolves. f**k. I can see them looking at me with rage and without a warning the brown wolf attacked me. I was thrown to a tree my body feeling all weak. I want to shift but I can't I'm too weak to shift. I was about to stand back up but my vision is starting to get blur and the next thing I knew I was falling to the ground.
I woke up when I felt something burning. I can feel my wrist burning but I ignored it. I blinked a few times trying to adjust my vision finding out where the hell I am. I looked around and it seems like I am in a prison cell. Tsk. I had no idea I crossed a pack border. I was probably too weak to notice and the fact that tonight is the night of the full moon. I was chained on a chair definitely no way out.
I looked around the room and saw t*****e weapons hanging on the walls. Great. I’m a rogue and I’m a threat therefore I have to get punished. Lovely. This is exciting. I wonder how high my tolerance is. It’s been many years since I was tortured.
'I can't believe you.'
'oh Leah you're still there.' I can feel her rolling her eyes at me.
'Do you realize the situation we are in right now?' she asked and this time it's my turn to roll my eyes.
'oh right. We are about to get tortured I know that Leah.' I said in a duh tone.
She was about to say something when the door suddenly burst open revealing a man in his early twenties. He's wearing a black shirt his hair all messed up like he just f*cked some pack s**t, well believe me every pack has one or two or even more, he actually smelled like it and he is the most unattractive guy I have ever seen.
"So what do we have here?" he said with a cocky grin on his face. How I wish I could mop his face on the floor but instead I showed him a bored look.
"Nothing but a gorgeous shewolf; why do you ask?" I kept my face void with any emotions and this seems to piss him off. Definitely one of my intentions.
"You do know the consequences when you pass our territory little rogue." He said as he circled around me.
“It means death.” He whispered behind my ear giving me goosebumps all over my body.
“You pack mutts are too over yourselves. Just because a rogue crossed your border doesn’t mean they’re a threat; some are just lost. But you mutts are all narrow minded to understand that." he let out a vicious growl filled with rage.
"Rogues like you are nothing but a threat, a disgrace, a vermin, and a parasite that needs to be terminated.” I snorted at his statement and he growled.
“If you think rogues are a vermin and a parasite what do you think of yourself? A God? A king? An Alpha? You’re nothing but a petty little servant dog who fetches the stick when his master ask him to.” He slapped me hard; so hard that I can taste my own blood. A small laugh escaped from my mouth and it got him even angrier.
Left and right he slapped me but he’s still not satisfied. He took a whip coated with silver hanging from the walls; his eyes burning with the desire to punish me.
He started hitting me and I just bit my lower lip to contain the pain. As the whip cut my flesh open, I hissed as I felt a slight pain.
"You should know who you're talking to little rogue. I am the lead warrior of the werewolf king’s army and soon to be delta of the royal kingdom. Know your place. You should be begging me for mercy." Again another whip was given to me this time it was harder. A smile formed on my lips until it turned into a loud laugh. Surprisingly, I still have the energy to laugh at this situation.
"Third in command? A Delta? That's what you're proud about? That still doesn’t change the fact that you are a pathetic little dog who dies and live at the orders of his master.” He growled. I heard his footsteps behind me and then later on he started whipping me again but something is different. The whip is dipped into a dust of silver leaving its particles inside my open wounds making it sting. He whipped me two or three times then he took something from behind me.
He stood in front of me holding a container of silver dust.
“This is no ordinary silver. This silver is mixed with wolfsbane; if placed on a werewolf’s skin, it’s enough to burn them alive.” I held a cold look and just waited for him to do it and get things over with. He walked behind me and I’m sure he’s going to pour the dust on my wounded back. I can feel him raising the container over my head but he was stopped when the door was opened with a loud bang.
I suddenly felt my whole body weaken. Although it’s faint, I can smell a sweet scent of minty chocolate.
'Mate? No this can't be.' I open my eyes shock at what Leah said.
'What the f*ck did you just say Leah?!!!’ before Leah could say anything a gorgeous man in his early twenties is standing in front of me. He is the owner of that scent. My vision is starting to get blurry and my body is weakening.
"Mate." that was the first thing he said to me but I gave him a disgusted look.
“Mate? Are you sure? Or are you just drunk? I never actually asked for a mate and I don’t want to mate with someone like you. So if you please release-------“
I gasped when I received a punch from my so-called mate. I gave him a one sided smile then it turned into a small laugh. My vision’s starting to get blur and I know in any moment I am going to pass out but before it happens I should at least say these words to him.
I looked up to look at him in the eye but everything’s a blur but that didn’t stop me from saying, “F*ck you.”
Those were the last words I said before receiving another punch causing me to completely lose consciousness.
