Chapter Nine Jie opened his eyes. In the early morning light, the first thing he saw was Megan. Their bodies had moved apart in their sleep but she was facing him, on her side, her body curled in a fetal position. She was sleeping peacefully, her breath rising and falling in a steady rhythm. Errant strands of her silky hair fell across her cheek and her lips were slightly parted as she breathed.
